Hi everyone just wanted to know any hood movie or TV Show which is related to spiritual journey or how to find yourself or discuss about one belief in a constructive manner.

Hi Hope,

I have a few titles in mind, plus if I remembered clearly I've read certain lists about these kind of films in IMDb but only some that I've watched or liked from those lists.

My suggestions are more on those quite recent films though.

I would recommend Before We Go and Papertowns, however these two are a bit like love stories as well but for me they have kind of nice and warm messages in them.

Next are Gravity and The Fountain. The latter is a bit difficult to watch though, but it have some great visuals though the narrations and the story itself are quite deep. Got some religious element in it as well.

Or maybe Apocalypto and Life of Pi. Apocalypto is one of my favourite.

I also in the thought that there are lots more films that actually have these kind of messages in them, however it depends on how we view them, how we enjoy them. Even Zootopia has this message about discovering your ownself.

Sorry Hope. I missed the word "hood" in your post. I'm not so sure about hood movies though. I'm sure you have watched Straight Outta Compton. I can only relate this film with those that you are looking for.

Give Boy's n tha Hood a try mate, that's a proper 'Hood' movie ;-)

{Ed001's Note - love that film! Menace to Society as well, that is a good watch, with a great soundtrack if you like rap.}

Boyz n the hood is my favourite hood film and I also love Menage to society as well Ed1, top film. Some other I'd recommend are 'Baby boy', 'Training day' and '187'. 'Four brothers' and 'American history X' could be in that category too.

Not enough of these films made. If you want a series in the hood you want to look at ' the wire 'and a more modern one 'power' both quality but I'm siding more with power I think, it's bloody brilliant.

{Ed001's Note - Training Day was a brilliant movie. Denzel makes a very convincing bad guy! Have you seen the Training Day series? If so is that any good?}

Ed I love Denzel, he's one of my favourite actors, loved him especially in Training Day, Deja Vu, A Man Apart and American Gangster but he's done loads of great films hasn't he.

I'm yet to watch the series of training day mate. I thought it'd be good and it does look good but I was surprised there was only one season, usually with something like that there would at least be a few but I'll definitely give it a go and let you know mate, I have a few days off so it's time to binge watch some stuff lol!

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on Denzel. He is defo amongst the best ever actors.

I look forward to hearing about the Training Day series, so I know whether to add it to my watch list or not.}

Ed1, please do yourself a favour and don't watch Training day the series, to be quite frank mate it's terrible, they tried to hard and failed imo it's hard work to watch. 4 episodes in was enough! I'd rather watch England play I think. It's a shame because I thought it'd be good but it was very disappointing, it might've got better after the 4 episodes but I highly doubt it mate.

{Ed001's Note - that bad? Wow.}

Training Day the series was ok until Bill Paxton died and now it's been scrapped
