The Accountant (2016)

Ben Affleck plays a math savant who works as a freelance accountant to some of the most dangerous criminal organisations on the planet. As a cover, he runs a small business as an accountant to hide his true business behind. With the US Treasury Dept on his trail, he decides to take a legitimate job doing the books for a robotics firm after a glitch was discovered by an accounts clerk there.

For some reason that is never really explained, he takes a liking to the accounts clerk, played by Anna Kendrick, and then spends the film trying to save her after it is discovered the glitch was a criminal act and the firm try to cover up the problem by killing them both. What follows is well acted, with some really good action setpieces, but the story lacks any substance.

Watchable in the John Wick mindless action flick way, mindless fun. I enjoyed it but I thought there would be more to it, with a better storyline.

Iv just watched this aswell ed, I enjoyed it. Liked the ending aswell!

{Ed001's Note - I was a bit disappointed with the 'twist' myself. You could see it coming a mile off. Well both twists I guess. I forgot about the first one as it was so obvious, almost glaring at you throughout the film.}

I thought this film was ok. It had a great premise and good actors but it seemed to build up to a big finale only for it to shuffle off into the night whilst pausing momentarily to tie up the treasury dept and flashback storylines In a rather underwhelming fashion.
