The missus just took me to see Wonder Woman as she got paid and I have to say I am glad she was paying. It had a few funny moments but overall it was cringeworthy rubbish. It felt like they were so busy trying to make Gal Gadot powerful (and look like Lynda Carter which is a good thing) that they lost sight of making a decent story.

It felt too much like a Captain America reboot set in the WW1 rather than WW2 at the end. Similar story, one bad super genius, one baddy super powerful. Though it did go on from there it never really worked for me.

However I could just be down on it because of all my childhood fantasies of the original Wonder Woman, and this just never lived up to them. Gadot is a good looking woman, but she never approached my childhood memories of Carter. So maybe that was all it was.

For me I just thought it got caught between the darkness of the war itself and trying to be funny. I would have just liked it to stick to the dark style that worked so well in the Dark Knight trilogy. WW1 was such a dark time with so many terrible events, it makes me a little uncomfortable to see it being made light of. Especially when there was no need to, the light bits were not essential to the film, nor anything but a pointless distraction.

It just ended up a bit of a confused mess, with WW herself becoming almost Superman like. She lacked human flaws to make her truly someone you could identify with, like Superman, which makes her a bit bland.

The gf enjoyed it though, but she loves mindless action flicks. And wrestling. Which is what this reminded me of. It was that pure pantomine of wrestling, rather than the gritty realism of Dark Knight trilogy.

I think dc need to pack in making movies. They made the the best super hero movie in the dark night. Call it a day.

{Ed001's Note - or make the films in that sort of style?}

What I'm amazed by ed is that the dark night set the bench mark, everything about that film is amazing. Yet, all the new films they release are just naff. It's like they've gone backwards. If it were me I would be making films to try and better the dark night. Just doesn't make sense to go for mediocrity or worse.

{Ed001's Note - they are just concentrating on churning them out quick to make money, rather than quality.}

Watched it today ed, I'll write a review in a bit but once again our opinions differ, I thought it was really good and easily the best Of the new DC films.

{Ed001's Note - the best yes, but that is because they are terrible.}
