Fate of the Furious

Basically the story centered on Dom, blackmailed and went rogue, and so got hunted by his very own mates. Just like Furious 6 and Fast and Furious 7, again, the film was more like a super spy agents taking on a villain who wants to take over the world.

Surprisingly, as I really didn't like the previous two (especially the 7th), I found this one very entertaining and somehow better. I watched it by trying to put aside the ridiculousness (1. A group of former street racers and convicts trusted by the government to solve a global terrorist. 2. Two groups of people who were once enemy to one another working together, yes to stop a global terrorist).

Statham character felt more like one of the main in this film; he has lots of scenes and lines. There were lots of humours too, and they weren't just from the Tyrese character, but even from Statham's and the Rock's. And just like the previous films, the part of the story about family and respect and friendship, was rather charming and warm.

Not much to say about the action; it was loud and big (and stupid), and definitely it didn't dissappoint.

And the ending, by again praying tribute to the character Brian, was really nice.

This is a really entertaining action film, with casts that are having great chemistry among them, and easily (in my opinion) the best compared to the last 2. Now I'm looking forward for the next Fast 9.

I was forced to watch this with the Mrs and her Mum.

I honestly hadn't watched any ff since Tokyo Drift and that was a big pile of crap.

I had guessed within minutes who Helen Mirren was and where it was going. So I had to sit there for a good hour even though the ending was obvious.

And one thing that really annoyed me - their EMP took out a nuclear submarine but the car the emp was atattached to was fine? Started up and drove away. then again I was in a mood about watching a film where I knew the plot and was probably in the mood for picking faults.

Oh and how can Helen Mirren have such a terrible cockney accent?! It was like a mix of Dick Van Dyke, Brick Top and that aussie from Green street!

There were loads of them, the ridiculousness, in it not just the EMP. The wrecking ball (after first swing, the baddies were so insanely stupid couldn't think about dodging the second swing), the cable pulling Dom's car doors (the door was off only after Dom kicked it), Hobbs driving a truck able to match the speed of a torpedo, and that jetsuit Shaw was wearing before getting in the plane, is that even real?

Oh. I couldn't help but to think they are actually trying to revive the Brian's character (not the baby, and not directly of course). The new young agent, driving a Supra, and then an Impreza during the last chase scene, it was so Brian.

{Ed001's Note - it is odd that the series has been so successful as the characters are so weak. They are like a kids cartoon character, with no depth to them.}
