Sherlock holmes two. Having seen the trailers i think it looks a bit poor.

It was pretty good actually. Not Golden Globe great, but a solid 8/10.

Bit of advice for everyone, don't go anywhere near Hostel 3. You have better things to do with 90 mins of your life!

G.A.G.U.S

I only watched to first one and wasn't impressed, didn't watch the 2nd cos i heard it was crap and basically a sadistic porno... didn't even know there was a 3rd.

Try watching sweat shop,,,absolutley brutal,worst film i have ever seen.....

29 Dec 2011 19:29:58
Has anyone here read The Hunger Games and seen the trailer?

Was wondering if I could get opinions on the trailer and how much they think it'll match the book.

RenegadeRed

Never heard of this before but after doing some research gonna go out and buy the books.

Nah i'll get something manly on like north sea hijack or sea wolves. {Ed007's Note - Just fart at a romantic moment, that has worked in the past for me, when a woman lets rip it's time to jog on lol puts me right off!}

North Sea Hijack now there's an unappreciated classic! In fact thats a couple of great Roger Moore films there, perfect for a lazy non football Saturday afternoon. Almost Bond but not quite.

24 Dec 2011 00:10:12
No she's not called moneypenny. Only problem is its too bloody long and the wrong kind of film for winter. I'm shivering. Get suckered everytime, grease, dirty dancing, bridget jones. Draw the line at twilight. {Ed007's Note - Grow a pair mate! Dirty Dancing....RRRREEEEEAAAALLLYYYY???? Twilight, what age is she, 15??? Make her watch Blue Velvet and see how that goes.}

23 Dec 2011 23:06:48
Bond we must have seen it three dozen times. And i always make the same mistake every time. Gets to the painting scene and i get a crack in the ribs for going phwoar {Ed007's Note - Are you me? lol

23 Dec 2011 22:48:36
Yes bond. Worse films to sit through i suppose. Wee kate indeed {Ed007's Note - Well I don't want to spoil the story for you :-)

23 Dec 2011 22:29:33
Does anyone else get dragged into watching films with their mrs and end up enjoying them? {Ed007's Note - You watching Titanic as well mate? Worth it for wee Kate though.}

23 Dec 2011 17:07:26
wanna talk about up coming films what do people think about the remake of American psycho? also what do you think about remakes and current films at the mo. what would you like to see.( anyone have any news on Halloween 3,friday 13th 2 or nightmare on elm street films Im a horror geek sorry)

Nightmare on elm street 2 is already made m8 due out summer 2012 as for halloween and friday 13th not to sure .....MovieBuff

Nightmare on elm street 2, hasn't been remade. Though it is slated for next year, it's looking doubtful..

23 Dec 2011 16:50:13
so many people question what films are being made and remade but if i ever had the chance i think The Borribles could be the biggest and best trilogy better than twilight and the pirates film or potter since the star wars trilogy for a fantasy project. it pains me to put this out in the open domain but i am so eager for this book to be made into a film. It has been looked at and passed on by so many but it would (if done correctly) be awesome. I think Eddie Marsan would make an excellent Stonks.lets hope this film does get made so i can re-live my childhood lets hear your cast ideas lets get this made.I always wanted this to make my fortune but hey ho

Better than Twilight?! Wouldnt take much..

22 Dec 2011 15:12:47
Having recently seen both the bounty hunter and horrible bosses i have to say brad pitt is a very silly boyo

Just watched moneyball in which mr pitt stars and produced and i thought he was excellent

Think he was referring to brad Pitt leaving jenifer aniston, she was in the 2 films he mentioned

22 Dec 2011 09:40:40
finally got round to watching Dale & Tucker last night,hilarious from start to finish,usual plot-american kids go camping and meet the local hillbillies but then the film totally turns the usual happenings in these sort of films and is a blast,watch it and let me know what you think

mark d

I have to agree this is a brilliant low budget movie but its packed with great laugh out load material especially the incident with the wood chipper brilliant

The wood chipper incident is hilarious and i was still laughing about it the next day,so glad someone else loved it

With the trailor for the hobbit released (i advice you watch it) i done some snooping into the production team, i now couldnt be more excited! Peter Jackson still directing, the same screen play people, and most importantly for me its still Howard Shore composing the soundtracks! Also with much of the cast returning from lord of the rings surely it cant disapoint as lord of the rings imo were three of the best films ever.

What do you people think?
Spoc.

Watched the trailer myself the other day it looks wonderful but in my opinion the dwarves look very child friendly would have liked them to be a little more rugged.

20 Dec 2011 17:10:40
has anybody seen Grave Encounters ? what do you think??

Yes ive seen it scary or what....unlucky alf

20 Dec 2011 13:33:07
Why hasn't anyone remade 'The Warriors' . what a bloody thirsty film this could be.

Couldn't beat the original .Pure classic of my youth "warriors come out to play" ah memories,try and catch The Wanderers if u haven't seen it great dust up at the end......DH {Ed007's Note - The Wanderers was a classic to my generation DH.}

It gets shown regularly on Movies24 or Movies for men on sky bring on the Baldies......DH

The Warriors and The Wanderers are both legend!

Bluegenius

Sorry but i don't think we will see a warriors film any time soon as its in production hell basically walter hill is still involved at the mo but i don't think it will see the light of day for a long time plus it will never be a classic like the original

I couldn't help myself when I saw this... The warriors is so awful. Never have I seen such an overrated film!

Percy

Percy,,,,get a life,give me your view on a good film then....

20 Dec 2011 11:19:09
what is everyone's opinion here about lord of the rings trilogy. For me, i think it's the perfect example of how a movie should be made.
U.P. {Ed001's Note - whereas I think it was typical ruination of a great set of books. Far too much left out and far too many changes made simply to get Liv Tyler a bigger role. I just wish I hadn't read the books so many times when I was younger, then I would be able to just judge them as films on their own merits.}

Yeah I agree about leaving so many things from the book. But, then it would be impossible to include everything in just three movies. i just think, just as a movie they were perfect.
U.P. {Ed001's Note - I have to say they did nothing from me, but I will never know if it was because I was so disappointed by what they chose to leave it and the crap they added in. Personally I just don't enjoy them at all.}

Certain stuff needed to be chopped like Tom Bombadil, but they could have incorporated bits of it a bit better. I know people who saw it first then read it so its more of which you did first. I like the films, but prefer my own imagination when reading them. I read them at 13 then left it until the films came out, loved the films but after an adult reading went off the films a bit. Still entertaining though

I actually prefererd the films! Although the books are very good they are imo a bit floaty and spend too long appreciating the scenery etc.

The films I enjoyed thoroughly although I do agree should not have missed out as much. I own the 3 extended films totalling about 12 hours. A day well spent (again) over the holidays I think!

bluegenius

I think the third one is fairly dreadful, and Elijah Woods just doesn't do the role justice. On the other had, the first two are very enjoyable, if a bit drawn out for my taste.

What do we think of the new star trek then? Liked the casting. Liked the design of the enterprise. Hated the water turbine thing. Didn't like the time travel story line. Hated the destruction of vulcan. Didn't like the idea of doing a prequal shows lack of ideas.

Come on mate how many Star Treks were weak on story lines...Most of them

MJ

True, but i didn't see the need to do a prequal as good as the casting was, total lack of ideas, and surely they could have done soemthing better. Some of the othe rmovies had good ideas.

Thought it was excellent..

As a big star wars fan it pains me to say but i loved the star trek film and am looking forward to the sequel yes it was a bit silly and over done but in my opinion that's what star trek was always about

Anyone else wish Hollywood could have some new ideas of their own rather than re-hashing old ideas or re-making foreign films because Americans can 't read subtitles ? Lincoln Rob

Totall agree but its just the same tired old things rehashed.

Remaking some films isn't that bad an idea, i don't mind watching stuff with subtitles, but you tend to spend an hour and a half staring at the bottom of the screen and missing whats actually going on, your too busy reading captions to actually focus on the actors performance and you miss a lot of little things like changes in emotion and so on because your having to read subtitles. Its not so bad if its a film in which you can speak the language so you can follow to a degree, but the majority of people can't. I love a lot of the Chinese films that have appeared over the last decade, they truly are a visual spectacle but you do miss bits from having to read the subtitles. And i'm not learning to speak it either.

Besides they've been remaking foreign films into an Americanised version since the 60's anyway, just look at Seven Samurai/ The Magnificent Seven. If its done in the right way then you make a very good film like in the example above. If its not done as well then you end up with something like The Ring.

But yes there is a bit of a lack of imagination around at the moment, its all comic super hero adaptations which has now been going on for about 15 years. And when you do get something new and fresh like The Hangover they then make endless sequals squeezing the life out of them just chasing money, they get bogged down into franchises.

Sorry babbled on a bit Mort.

With techology being bigger in this day & age, Film Director's original visions can be met - I believe this is a big part of the reason why older films are being remade.

Look at what happened with george lucas, he had to start with ep 4,5 & 6 with Star Wars because the techology wasn't about to create huge clone wars etc etc in the first 3 films.

Gumbo

Gumbo, very true with something like Star Wars although i really do think george needs to stop mucking around with 4,5,6 and maybe go back to 1,2,3 and sort out the bits in them that don't work out.

But some the remakes that arre around at the moment are done mainly for commercial rather than artistis reasons.
Mort

{Ed033's Note - Wasn't there a very small chance at some point of them making Star Wars 7, 8 and 9

There was Ed, i think the cast grew too old though and now George doesn't know what to do. Would be interested to know what his idea was for a final trilogy especially given the amount of post Endor books that are around. Mort

Any idea on this tv series Lucas was supposed to have been doing? And are the animated ones any good? Mort

Let's hope if George does decide to do 7,8,9. He lets other people direct them.

Saw Catch me if you can last night, quality, quality film.

Ted

17 Dec 2011 15:33:06
After hearing alot of talk about an old Shane Meadow's film called "Dead Mans Shoes" i finally watched it last night.

What a great film, never in a million years did i think Paddy Considine could pull off violent and intimidating but he did it .... and did it brilliantly. He just gave off this unpredictable vibe and the ending was shocking but brilliant.

i would strongly reconmmend it to anybody.

Scotty Bhoy

So glad you loved the film

mark d

Hope you watched This Is England on Channel Four last week. Shane Meadows is such an excellent writer and director. Lincoln Rob {Ed001's Note - both series have been as excellent as the film it must be said. Very unusual for a spin off TV series to come anywhere near matching the original film.}

Luckily I have seen This is England and it was fantastic, the TV series is just as good! It is good to see that there are great British writers/producers out there that can deliver such good shows, gives the Americans a run for there money! Lol!

Looking forward to the new Mission Impossible film, fair play to Tom Cruise doing his own stunts, jumping off the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. You have bigger kahunas than me my friend!

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - He didn't jump.......I threw him to try and stop a Top Gun 2 getting made ;-)

Haha! Take my breath away.......

Gumbo {Ed001's Note - I wish someone would do something to stop him making films, the guy is too old to do action films, it is embarrassing now.}

I do tend to agree, but I must admit the new M.I film is look good. Who could take the role of Ethan Hunt from Cruise in future M.I Films?

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - I do like the M.I. films (which surprised me TBH) but I think it's franchise could rival modern day James Bond and who would have thought Daniel Craig could have made such a good job of that. Maybe Christian Bale after his Batman tenure is over could play Hunt or Matt Damon???}

Bale I think will be too old by then to take the role forward. Damon is always gonna be linked to the 'Bourne' films which is a far too similar action film.

What about James Franco (127 Hours) if he bulks up a bit? (Like Keanu did in Speed!)

Gumbo

Orlando Bloom

Maybe Chris Pine who was in Star Trek?

14 Dec 2011 09:07:44
anyone know if there's plans for a bad boys 3 planned?

Hope not ....unlucky alf

Yes bad boys Three is planned for release in 2014 m8 both will smith and martin lawrence have signed up to do it the reason we will have to wait is that will smith has alot of movies he is working on independance day 2, hancock 2, i am legend 2 and also he is producing a movie for his daughter at the moment so all that before he films bad boys.... im a huge will smith fan and cant wait myself. hope this helps........MovieBuff

Independence Day has supposed to have been coming for 15 years so i wouldn't hold my breath on that one just yet.

And how can he do a sequal to I am Legend? He died.

And as much as a Will Smith fan as i am, Hancock was pants.

I am legend is going to be a prequel

After watching pursuit of happyness you cannot not be his fan
U.P.

Independence day 2 is being made

mark d

1. What is the point for an I am Legend prequal? Anything of importance you saw in the flash back scenes.

2. What was wrong with Pursuit of Happyness, a feelgood film that delivered.

3. Independence Day 2 has been coming ever since the first one came out. And it keeps hitting set backs all the while. Until i see it confirmed on twitter, den of geek and empire and see a trailer i'm not going to believe it. Also again i really see the point of a sequal. {Ed007's Note - Since when did Twatter confirm anything?????????}

Cos sites like den of geek and empire tend to update their twitter accounts first ed to advertise that they will updating their actual website so they can generate more hits.

also certain people in the movies can't keep off it and tend to drop a lot of hints.... {Ed007's Note - Football sites use it as well to get traffic to their site, 99% of their stuff never happens either does it?}

Thats my point though ed, its a case of sifting the bs. sites like den of geek and empire are quite reliable though. so if i see it on there then its coming. There has already been discussion of dog about it, and last i read they were taking it with a pinch of salt. {Ed007's Note - Cheers. I don't keep up with films as such but I'll check they sites out. Moneypenny is more of a film buff than me.}

No worries ed

denofgeek.com/ does a lot of cult tv and film, stuff like sci fi mainly but also do a lot on the marvel/ dc stuff and all sorts, usually have a lot of gossip and entertaining articles. They tend to source a lot of stuff from rumour sites so they filter the bs or tell you something and let you know if they think its bs. They do reviews on tv/ film. dvd releases etc as well. good site.

empireonline.com/ in their own words "The world's leading movie magazine, bringing you breaking movie news, film and DVD reviews, celebrity interviews, competitions and more." {Ed007's Note - Thanks. The Sci-Fi stuff/cult stuff would certainly interest me.}

Yeah there's some interesting looking stuff on their today.

"I have had it with these motherf**king snakes on this motherf**king plane!"

Movie and actor. If you can't get this then there is no hope for you!

G.A.G.U.S {Ed001's Note - one of the worst films ever made!}

Snakes on a plane - Samuel L Jackson
Thats to easy man.
Herbie

And also a spoof quote from epic movie, which was appauling
sj9

I agree Ed, sh*t movie! But that line is pretty good.

G.A.G.U.S {Ed001's Note - not a fan of Samuel either, despite him having good taste in footie films he is a complete arse. Him and his retinue took over the Adelphi while shooting 51st State, the lot of them were far too big for their boots. They were not exactly popular by the time they left.}

I don't particularly like him either Ed! I can't think of a single decent movie that he has done.

G.A.G.U.S {Ed007's Note - Jungle Fever, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Unbreakable, Fresh, etc. He has been in some decent films GAGUS, but a lot of 5hit ones too.}

The bad far outweighs the good. When Snakes on a Plane is only remembered for one line, you know it's sh*t.

G.A.G.U.S {Ed003's Note - Unbreakable was good }

Star wars {Ed001's Note - the prequels were not particularly good films, and Unbreakable is awful, one of the worst films ever, though Pulp Fiction is worse. All Tarantino films are dreadful, I don't understand why people rate him, they are a case of style over substance.}

Ed wasnt to keen on star wars 1 and 2 but revenge of the sith was good. Agree with you on unbreakable but pulp fiction is class so was resivour dogs Jackie brown was average {Ed001's Note - I thought Jackie Brown was the best of them at just abysmal.....}

I fell asleep during Jackie Brown so thats how good it was.

I think Star Wars are decent enough if you look at them for what they are. The problem is though that our generation who grew up with the originals look at them and dismiss them totally out of hand. Yes they had problems, yes they should have been sorted, and Lucas should stop faffing with the originals and maybe tweak the new ones instead.

Well done Ed and Friends, another great site to check daily.

Not been many mentions of The Dark Knight Rises movie yet, a bit wierd when there are many rumours going around and everybody seems to be talking about it.
I personally cant wait and have been soaking every little bit of information up, with all this new information i am still none the wiser about what is going to happen in the film. I have loads of little idea's in my head about what i think will happen, anybody else on here excited about the film and want to share their idea's about what they think?

Cheers
Scotty Bhoy

I think its partly because their are so many rumours flying around.

And partly a lot of people are trying to avoid them.

I for one am trying to avoid anything until a proper trailer is out. persoanlly i've had enough with films being spoilt and surprises ruined.

If anyone wants to post them up go for it, but just give and advance warning first please and thanks.

Ive been told in the comic that bane is she only villan to have broken batman. He breaks his back and puts him in a wheelchair. This is bales last batman film so I am wondering if the movie could mirror the comic strip

Yeah that is true, Bane is most famous for destroying batman and breaking his back. Batman does later recover so maybe this is where the "dark knight rises" but will just have to wait and see.

To the first person to reply, sorry mate. I will put up warning if I mention anything considered a spoiler but mainly just wondered what people thought about the stuff we already know! Like u I cannot wait!

No mate no worries, i too think that the title could be a clue, especially as i think the one where Bane snaps him was called Knight Fall?

I am massively looking forward to this after the first 2, and don;t mind hints, just wouldn;t want to see the whole thing laid out.

Yeah that's understandable mate, I will not post anything that will ruin it! You are right though it may be loosely based on a trilogy of comics from 1993 called; Knight Fall, Knights Quest and Knights End. Very good comics and i would recommend giving them a read!

Thanks, defintely getting excited. I really wonder what they will do once Nolan and Bale depart?

Anyone a fan of Asian cinema ? If so, any films I should look out for. Obscure if poss, as I already know most Hong Kong and Korean films. Lincoln Rob.

There's an absolute tonnes of them mate.

i'd suggest some of the old classic black and whites from japan like seven samurai.

Or if you have any favourite actors just look them up, see what else they have done, bound to be something.

Also the Chinese are banging out a lot of good stuff ever since crouching tiger.

hero, curse of the golden flower, house of the flying daggers. etc etc

I#ve got a load queued onmy lovefilm account.

Thanks for the post, but already a big martial arts fan. Was looking for less well known films that were well received. Ps If you like martial arts, check out Wu Xia with Donnie Yen.

Machine girl is good
weird but good
also you could try some classic anime
fist of the north star, akira, ghost in the shell,
dominion tank police are all good imo.

Favourite clint eastwood film? {Ed007's Note - NOT a fan of him at all!}

Bond i'm shocked.

Escape from Alcatraz. Firefox. Where Eagles Dare. Dirty Harry. {Ed007's Note - The Line Of Fire!!!!!! Bridges of Madison County!!!!!! Heartbreak Ridge!!!! My father in law is a huge fan, says it all really.}

Admittedly Ed he's done a couple of clunkers in his career but i think almost every actor can say that.

Even the great Will Smith dropped a pink moon mouse when he did Hancock. {Ed007's Note - The great Will Smith???? Get a grip :-)

Ah come now Bond, the Willster has a good volume of work, Independance Day, the first Men in Black, Puruit of Happyness, I am Legend, Ali.

Some good stuff in there.

Come on Ed who's your top actor? Who's the one that you always try and catch their films? {Ed007's Note - I don't really follow actors as such. Big De Niro/Pacino fan though.}

I'd have Will Smith in my top 5 actors, with Hanks, Damon, Di caprio and Foxx.

OK yeah couple of good names there, getting on a bit now though. {Ed007's Note - Pacino is a better all round actor IMO, De Niro is a bit stereotyped but Raging Bull is my favourite film ever. Christian Bale doesn't make much rubbish either, American Psycho and The Machinist etc, and the best Batman EVER!!!!}

Lee marvin for me ......unlucky alf

Yeah Bale is very solid ed.

Nobody around you think can take the mantle left by de niro/ pacino? {Ed007's Note - OOOfffttt no idea mate.}

Big shoes.

I do like the look of Di caprio/ Damon being built into something similiar after the departed but doubt would happen. {Ed007's Note - Ed Norton could do a job.}

IMO the worst of Bale's films is Terminator Salvation, it was dire.
sj9

Bale, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, Gary Oldman, the late Heath Ledger, Steve Mcqueen, Fassbender. Just a few names I would throw out there tbh. Larkin

Just read that Tom Cruise is in talks for Top Gun 2 with the orginal producer Tony Scott. Leave the classic as a stand alone or go for it? Thoughts?!

Gumbo

...just following on from my last post...I'm guessing Val Kilmer will not return as 'Iceman' as he would no longer fit his now obese body into the seat of a MiG-29s!!

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - Have you seen Kelly McGillis lately??}

I heard this too but nothign wa involving Tom Cruise ... and there was a chick who was gonna play the "main pilot" ...... yup .... u guessed it ... it will be jobbies !

Germinator {Ed007's Note - Have a read at this Germ mate:

timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-interviews/Tom-Cruise-to-reprise-his-famous-Top-Gun-role/articleshow/11046448.cms

..just looked her up...wow, she hasn't aged well at all!. Guess she would be worth a little cameo role!

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - I don't think she will need serenaded in a night club this time around, a couple of double JD's should be plenty.}

Thanks Ed, now I have nasty images of the new love scene between Cruise and McGillis. I think a little bit of sick has just come up into my mouth.

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - That's just shattered all your pubescent fantasies mate, sorry ;-)

Or would it skip forwards 20 odd years where Pete "Maverick" Mitchell is a Gulf War vet and now running the Top Gun Naval Flying School having taken over from Mike "Viper" Metcalf.

Now "Maverick" has to deal with a new generation of Top Guns.... {Ed007's Note - You have put a lot of thought into that.......maybe TOO much thought ;-) Is that you Tam? You are a bit old for all that, best bet is to forget it!}

Actually i'm Tony Scott and i'm very excited about this project.

Just wait till you see Shia LeBeouf seranding Megan Fox with a stunning rendition of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.

The Hangover III confirmed. Will be set in Los Angelos. Bring it on!

G.A.G.U.S

Flogging. A. Dead. Horse.

The new American pie, 1 joke film stretched to an increasingly unfunny franchise chasing $$$$ and people will keep going to see it....

Talk about a lack of ideas. And set in LA so it will be cheaper to make.

Hangover 2 was awful,i enjoyed the 1st one but the 2nd was just same story different location

mark d

Hangover 1 and 2 are the most overated films in years. Both are absolute muck.

Dar88

Hangover 1 was brilliant, Hangover 2 was way too similar to the first one. They are changing it up for the third one though!

G.A.G.U.S

Hangover 2 wa just annoying .... that dentists guys overacting did my nut in ! first one was genius 2nd was soo lazy .... wont be expecting anything better from the 3rd.
Germinator

I watched the 2nd one last night, good, funny in places, liked the monkey. But yeah does just seem to be a one trick pony, for the next one they really need to shake things up. Maybe have a womens cast instead, maybe the guys wags perhaps and see what scrapes they could get in.

O and Mike Tyson is an awful singer, but i wouldn't tell him to his face.

Step Brothers - Funniest film ever for me. :)

Your joking right!!

MJ

Very funny not as good as something about mary and get shorty
chicklovesduck

You don't find Step Bros funny MJ? Maybe not your kind of humour - Will Ferrell is a comedy Genius in my eyes - waht about the 'baby jesus' grace scene in Talladega Nights?

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - Talladega Nights was funny but Step Brothers was pretty dire.}

Its defo not dire! I would challange anyone to watch that film and not laugh - Yes the story maybe pants but its all about the gags!

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - So is You've Been Framed on TV, doesn't make it a great show does it?}

Ok ok I can't convert you Ed - and i best get back to work.

Gumbo {Ed007's Note - ;-)

Ohhh ohhh look at me my names Will Ferrell I'm going to put on a funny deep voice and then scream a little and ran around in circles while making a weird face for the next 40 minutes before being all really serious...and then running around with a funny voice and weird looking face for the last 50 minutes of the film! {Ed007's Note - Not a fan then?}

Gumbo I think will ferrell is funny as hell mate just couldnt get into Step Brothers

MJ

I really enjoyed dinner with smucks.

matty b {Ed003's Note - That reminds me it's nearly Christmas }

Shake & Bake.

Gumbo :)

I quite liked step brothers but then simple things amuse me lol

LFC94

Will Ferrell is the very funny in most of his films. Yhe only time i laughed throght the whole of wedding crashers is for the 5 minutes he was in it. I liked semi pro, step brothers and zoolander but his best 2 are Talladega nights and Anchorman are his best 2 {Ed001's Note - Will Ferrell is talentless in my opinion. I don't get what is funny about anything he does myself.}

06 Dec 2011 23:21:18
Transformers is brilliant

06 Dec 2011 18:12:28
Ok guys i have a very vague question but hopefully some of you movie buffs will be able to answer...British film about a man who left the army to help his simple minded brother who was having trouble with a gang, And he picks off the gang members one by one but at the end it comes about that his brother hung himself and he has been speaking to his brothers ghost...Brilliant film but i cant remember the name of any of the actors

MJ

The film is Dead Mans Shoes,starring paddy considine and is a brilliant film made in 2004

mark d

I agree. Dead mans shoes was one of the best revenge plot films that i have seen in a long time and paddy considine was brilliant in his roll with a nice twist at the end.....MovieBuff

Thats the one thanx guys

MJ

Cheers for the spoiler brought the film about a week ago had not got roung to watching it yet -
:)

chicklovesduck

Still watch it,very underated film

mark d {Ed007's Note - I'll need to try and catch it, it sounds decent.}

Glad i could help

mark d

Ed007- I highly recommend that you watch it m8 im not sure what kind of films u are in2 but every bloke in the world loves a great revenge film and it had me gripped from start to finish.... let me know what u thought if u get to watch it....MovieBuff {Ed007's Note - It sounds like the kind of thing I would watch MB. I'm not really into all the Hollywood 'blockbusters' as such, I prefer my films with a bit of grit and an edge, (apart from Star Wars of course).

06 Dec 2011 13:26:19
Quite often on here I notice people talking about the same films. (not complaining). I was wondering which films we each reckon are lesser known but impressed us. Im not saying no-one will have sen them but they are lesser discussed than the Usual Suspects, shawshank, terminator etc.

* The Last Boy Scout - Bruce Willis at his best

* Summer Of Sam - gripping stuff - strong characters

* The Fifth Element - Another Bruce Willis effort - good entertainment

* The Crow - The second best comic hero based film behind only Dark Knight.

* I.D - The best football hooligan film ever! Simples!

Bluegenius {Ed001's Note - I do love both the Crow and The Last Boy Scout. I have absolutely no time for films about football hooligans or the hooligans themselves, I have seen those scum at work and do not think glamourising them on screen is the way it should be. I don't get why anyone would enjoy the Fifth Element, it was terrible and Milla Jovivich just needs to eat a damn good meal once in a while. One less well known film I have to suggest you watch (if you haven't seen it) is Fan Boys, it is all about Ed007. He is Windows!}

Ed i'm inclined to agree about the hooligan film genre as a whole but the main character in this film is an undercover cop who gets carried away with his role. Very good stuff.

Fifth Element I just thought was great fun! I agree Jovovich needs a feed. She looked best back in her Kuffs/dazed and confused days!

Bluegenius {Ed001's Note - I have never liked her, even her accent grates on my nerves.}

Crow,Last boy scout and fifth element are all great films never seen summer of sam or I.D as Like ED001 i do not like Hooligan type films although i was forced to watch CASS and did enjoy it...It is definately worth watching it

MJ

I think its about how they do the hooligan films, its like anything to do with crime.

If it just glamourises it then its a no.

But if it shows the realities of hooliganism/ drugs/ crime whatever and that reality is either prison or the morgue then thats fair enough.

Fifth Element is just an odd film, i just can't get into it. She did look alright in Resident Evil though, but could definitely do with a good meal or too.

Unbreakable,to live and die in la,heat,manhunter,last of the mohicans,nobodys fool ,any given sunday!!

05 Dec 2011 22:54:33
Lets do as one shepherd said to the other and get the flock out of here. Which film?

Think this is from "Lethal Weapon"

Yes was watching it last night.

05 Dec 2011 08:32:12
watched the thing last night,the new one that is and please dont waste your time or money, same old same old,stick with the original version

mark d

04 Dec 2011 23:20:50
If you disobey societies rules they send you to prison. If you disobey the prisons rules they send you here. Whats the film?

Escape from Alcatraz. It was on last night!
Bluegenius!

Correct, very good film and one of the films that got me into Clint. the other being Where Eagles Dare.

04 Dec 2011 23:12:04
Starship troopers to be remade

They will just ruin the original

04 Dec 2011 22:52:15
Just watched In Time and gets an 8/10 from me. Really enjoyed the storyline as it was different and i hate to say it but Mr Trousersnake seems like he can act with a little help from Amanda Seyfried i must say, but all in all an enjoyable film. I recommend this one......MovieBuff

04 Dec 2011 11:27:02
How do people think sixth sense was a good twist. Was fairly obvious to me. Got it as soon as the brat who couldn't act said i see dead people. I mean it started with bruce getting shot by that nutter hiding in his bathroom.

I thought the twist in the Sixth Sense was awesome....... I never guessed that the little boy was Keyser Soze!!

04 Dec 2011 09:30:19
My top 10 movies with best end twists:
1. The Prestige
2. Sixth Sense
3. The Usual Suspects
4. Shutter Island
5. The Fight Club
6. The Illusionist
7. Along came a spider
8. Identity
9. The Others
10. The Game
U.P.

Prestige is a brilliant film.

Sixth Sense, didn't like it, for me was very predictable.

Usual Suspects was great. And even when you've seen it and know the twist you can still watch it for the acting.

Shutter Island is good but the twist depends on your interpretation, was he Teddy or not?

Fight Club is great and like Suspects you can watch it again and again, and i always pick up something new,

Illusionist i haven't seen.

Spider is an alright film.

Identity i only saw the once so can;t really remember it but i enjoyed it.

The others, its ok but you can only really watch it once, got the twist about 5-10 minutes before it came.

The game i haven't seen.

Slowburn had an excellent twist

For me, when i watched it all those years ago, sixth sense really got me. I don't know if i had watched it for the first time now, it would have. i think movie tastes also changes with age. For instance when i watched there is something about mary all those years ago ,i found it very very funny, but upon watching it recently, not so much.anyway the twist of sixth sense did surprised me when i watched it any way its easy to say, it was obvious. The most obvious in that list was in the illusionist, but it was a good movie.
U.P.

True romance
the way it was supposed to end with cristian slater being killed at the end.
thr darparted had a good twist as well
chicklovesduck

Old boy was the film, for me, with a twist, which I found incredibly predictable (partially), but still managed to be good.

Has anyone seen the trailer to Titanic 2. I have the link to it here on youtube.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=f720MNvOeVc {Ed007's Note - God help us!!}

I heard celine dion was doing the song again for it, it's called sink twice.

02 Dec 2011 23:33:35
does anyone know if immortals is any good, just wondering what sort of performance our good ol' henry is turning in before the man of steel(superman) comes out.
huddz red

I watched it at home last weekend i enjoyed it,similar to 300 etc but definitely worth watching

mark d

Cheers mate.

01 Dec 2011 17:22:32
Does anyone like the Omen series? {Ed007's Note - I was a fan when I was younger and have the box set, I do still stick them on every now and again.}

Yeah i own the first one on dvd but for some reason never got the other 2.

Then on, i think, saturday night omen 2 was on. I hadn't seen it since i was 11 (don't ask) so was curious cos i couldn't really remember it.

Omen 3 as i recall wasn't that good.

Omen 1 and 2 great, 3 was poor, 4 (if you knew there was one).... let's not speak about!

'If they ever tell my story, let them say I walked with giants. Men rise & fall like winter wheat but these names will never die. Let them say I lived in the time of Hector, tamer of horses. Let them say i lived in the time of achilles'
U.P.

I know some people don't like it but for me its a quality film. Have you seen the extended version? So much better. {Ed001's Note - what is it?}

Troy Ed, the quote is Sean Bean's Odysseus.

The extra 30 odd minutes in the extended version do make a difference, for me anyway. {Ed001's Note - ah right, I only watched it once and I thought it was dire, absolute cack.}

Each to their own ed, i think its an alright film, good one for the weekend, couple of beers. Not saying it couldn't be improved of course. {Ed001's Note - perhaps I just expected too much, but I loved the story of Troy and Odysseus as a kid, I just didn't think it did justice to a truly great story.}

Well first off i thought the bird who played Helen wasn't good enough. And Patroclus was far too girly. I think Brad Pitt struggled at first, but the extra 30 minutes strengthens the performance. O and Orlando Bloom is wet in everything he does.

The good bits, well i thought Hector was great. Bean and Brian Cox were very good and Peter O'Toole did well with what he had.

I'd give it a 7/10 overall.

I haven't seen the extended version, but i think it as a good movie, and different version of trojan ar than we read as a kid. it was a ok movie considering other bad movies that are out there for example, if anyone has watched 'alexander' with collin farrell. Now that as horrible, so much so that i deliberately skipped all collin farell movies after watching that.
U.P.

Well thats it mate, compare it Alexander and Troy is the better film. {Ed001's Note - Alexander was abysmal, but being better than that doesn't make Troy good!}

Step in the right direction though ed. Next time its on tv try it again, beats that jungle rubbish. {Ed001's Note - naw, I will give it a miss, unless the choice is jungle or it.}
