Kevin Spacey in Horrible Bosses
Christian Bale in American Psycho
Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Basterds
Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight
Tobin Bell in Saw {Ed001's Note - I have to say, much as I was shocked because I was expecting it to be awful, Horrible Bosses was a decent watch.}

Watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've always liked Kevin Spacey's acting. Jennifer Aniston looked amazing. {Ed001's Note - it was one of those films I didn't want to watch but thought I would give it a try because someone was talking about it on here. Fair play I am glad I did.}

I watched it on similar circumstances, the missus wanted to see it. i agreed, if she agreed to watch what about bob or dirty rotten scoundrels, but i'm glad i watched it. {Ed001's Note - oh damn, I hope you didn't tell her you enjoyed it? You will never hear the end of it now!}

Yeah i've had the i told you so's all day, but she's going to enjoy What About Bob tomorrow night, she probably won't admit it though. {Ed001's Note - you will get it every time she wants to watch anything you don't mate, you will be getting crowbarred into every chick flick for the next 20 years with that leverage.}

She's not really into chick flicks, but i've had to sit through some awful horror flicks in the past. {Ed001's Note - I am not a fan of horror flicks personally, so you have my sympathies.}

Yea forgot about him in Horribly Bosses...seen it with the lads n everyone crossed their legs with jennifer anniston...she was delish, I actualy thought colin farrel was alrite in it aswel
Red Kev

Now i want to see it! Big fan of Ms Aniston, she looked the ebst thing in the trailers.

Not a fan of horrors either.

hmmm 5 evil characters i will get back to you Mort.

Mark strong - kickass/sherlock holmes/robin hood
dennis hooper - speed,waterworld
gary oldman - leon, true romance

The best evil actors by far imo

gary mccormack...acid house
sake kimura...to end all wars
judd..kes

Who has seen and liked die hard with a vengeance? I came across the alternative ending the other night and thought it woulda been a whole lot better if the decided to go along with it, woulda made die hard 4 a whole lot better...story line wise. {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen that, the original film was terrible I thought. What was the alternative ending?}

It's on YouTube ed...it's alot darker and that's why it wasn't used {Ed001's Note - ah ok, cheers I will check it out later. I will need something to do to keep my mind off the pain after the dentist butchers me!}

Well it's only 6mins long...u had better crack open the vodka aswell! {Ed001's Note - I don't drink mate, got Captain America in 3D to watch as well, so am going to settle down now and watch them both.}

Will look that up didn't know there was one, does he end up killing Jackson? Seems to die in everything else.

Ed Captain America is a decent enough film, typical Marvel suspend your disbelief but some good action bits. I still prefer Thor and Iron Man though.

Ed did you see Captain America ? {Ed001's Note - yes mate, it was a great trailer for the forthcoming Avengers movie and really got me in the mood to see that. But, as a stand alone film in its own right, it was not one of the best, distinctly average I would say. Though the woman in it was very watchable it must be said!}

Like i said the other night Ed, its a decent enough film, alright to watch with a mate or 2, some beers and pizza/ takeaway. Not as good as Iron Man 1 or Thor but better than a lot of dross out there. {Ed001's Note - I agree completely, though I have to say I would recommend not bothering with the 3d version. It was just pointless having 3d on it at all really.}

Yeah the ending was great in Captain America, simply because it showed how he ends up in the Avengers. But the rest was cheesy and supremely average. You should watch Thor ed, that was brilliant i thought. Plus who else is really looking forward to wrath of the titans?
KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - I have Thor, decent film, but I prefer the Iron Man films myself, they are the best of the current comic book hero crop for me, or the latest Batmans. It depends on the mood I am in, Iron Man are fun, Batman is better for a serious mood. As for Wrath of the Titans, I am not looking forward to it after Clash of, that was a dreadful film. Still it couldn't be any worse than that!}

Huh, interesting. See i enjoyed clash of, but I know people who didnt like it at all so i know where your coming from ed mate. But the Avengers for me, will be film of the year. Going to see it on the 25th or 26th when it comes out over here in nz.
KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - I am looking forward to that, it should be awesome.}

starship troopers three. What the carp?

Actually not a bad film, better than 2.

Not as good as Roughnecks lol.

has anyone ever noticed in american tv and films anything set in new york always has a blue tint to it.

Lol what?

No honestly it does, New York in various tv/ film, the exterior has a very blue wash to the film.

Like Heroes, CSI, Payback etc etc. I know on Heroes they cam eout with some reason why they did it, can't remember now but you could always tell which segments were meant to be in NY as they were very blue compared to lA and the rest of the US.

Watched Payback last night and noticed it again, the outside scenes were very blue.

23 Feb 2012 07:10:58
Watched Woman in Black the other day and have to say it is a very typical Hammer film. Very atmospheric, great cinematography, brilliant score, and most importanty extremely wooden acting. Harry Potter was out acted by a 6 year old boy in the first scene and never convinced me beyond that as if he had any emotional connection to the role.
If you are of a nervous disposition then this film will be a good watch. If the only suspense thriller you enjoy is halloween then leave this one alone.

Paso

Radcliffe is a poor actor, anyone who's watched all 8 Potter's will attest to that. In all them he only has one expression that "o what you mean me" sort of range of fake surprise.

He was regularly outshone by Rupert Grint and Emma Watson his co stars and also by guy who played Draco malfoy (Tom Felton?) and the guy who was Neville Longbottom (sorry don't know his name) despite those 2 very often being nothing more than supporting actors at best and cameo parts in the main.

You would think that working with practically the who's who of British acting including the likes of Alan Rickman, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Gambon, Gary Oldman and so on that he would have picked a few tips up.

Yes you are correct, in the potter films he was very akward and wooden

Is star wars the best movie theme music ever?

whole soundtrack is good.

I always liked the soundtrack for Conan the Barbarian... Oh and Willow! Have know idea why though...

Quadrophenia was awesome!

Mr.Roller Coaster

What about the stand by me sound track?

Willow is a good shout, and i always have a fondness for Starship Troopers especially the music in Rico's first big battle when they invade the Bugs planet only to get battered. Sends shivers up the spine it does.

Need to listen to Conan more.

Quad goes without saying good shout. {Ed001's Note - it depends on the music you like really, anything with a score done by Quincy Jones tends to be very good, if it is your kind of music.}

I recognise the name Ed, whats he done film wise?

Basil Polidouris is quite good too. {Ed001's Note - Started off with a film called 'The Pawnbroker', and he has fully written the film scores for 33 major films. He also does a lot of the film score arrangements, as they call it, where he chooses the songs rather than just writes them. The man is a legend, worked with everyone from Frank Sinatra onwards. You would be surprised how many films and TV series he has worked on.}

Peter Best's score for Crocodile Dundee has to be up there as well.

Jaws, The exorcist

Scott Pilgrim.

Johnny cash film

Judgement night ( bit 90's ) {Ed001's Note - I had that soundtrack, was a rock/rap mix if I remember rightly.}

It certainly was ed some great pairings on it, slayer and ice t, cypress hill and pearl jam. Excellent from start to finish!

Wondering if anyone liked the films Push and Jumper? i loved both of these but there doesn't seem to be any sequel plans. Jumper the book was completely different from the film and it had a sequel Reflex which is also good.

I thought Jumper was alright, not as bad as people made out.

I enjoyed both of these movies but unsure if any sequel is to be done. However, there's a new film out which you may enjoy if you liked these. Its called chronicle. Not exactly the same but does look good, this and I am number 4, haven't seen either yet but they look interesting so gonna give them a go over the weekend, unless they're not as good as they look? anyone??

WelshScouse {Ed001's Note - I have seen I am Number Four. It was a bit of a kids film, I thought. For teens I mean, rather than a really good film. It was so memorable I had to look it up on IMDB to remind myself just which film it was! It isn't a bad film, but not one I would recommend either.}

Not seen either, saw the trailer for Chronicle, its a maybe, don't go to the cinema as much these day i'm afraid :(

Friend saw chronicle said it was superb

Have seen Chronicle and it was a good film, although I could have waited to see it on the telly but missus wanted to go to cinema and forced me and that was only thing that took my fancy. Other choices were the war horse/iron-lady.
Bit s**tty in places but the lead actor reminds me of a young Dicaprio, Basketball Diaries style.

But that should be the point.!!

Just seen the trailer for hunger games and it looks remarkably like battle royal. If you haven't seen it it is a quality Asian film with the same concept of hunger games except the kids aren't trained and the are all from one class. Well worth a viewing.

Paso

Battle Royal is one of my all time favourite films it is superb...Not oscar winning material but still is a fantastic film

MJ

Great film, so glad the american remake got canned.

Did not know a hollywood remake was ever on the cards - thank feck for that not happening as they ruin all Asian remakes, the only exception was The Ring.

Paso

Er Paso not sure how to break this to you, but it looks as if the Hollywood version is actually back on....

Just looked it up, and found there's a page for it on imdb.com with a release date of 2015 for it.

Honestly the last time i looked it had been canned.

imdb.com/title/tt0814023/

Seriously not looking forward to it. It is a great film and you just know it'll be a load of 90210 cast offs and Jocks.

Fingers crossed that Hunger games is too successful and the studio that owns the remake rights realise they are battling against a hollywood institution so decide to can it. Agree if it goes ahead i will unfortunately watch it as i love the original so much, but there is no way they are getting a single penny out of me for it - 1channel all the way!

Hi Eds just wondering ever since you took away the links from the top of the pages and hidden them the talk forums seem to have gone really quiet recently with little crack going on. just wondering if anything can get done about this to get the crack flowing again? {Ed001's Note - I will get the links put back I think, you are right I have noticed it too.}

10 Feb 2012 19:37:58
Hi ed. Could you give me a few decent comedy's i could watch? {Ed007's Note - Depends what kind of comedy you like mate. Not much recent stuff has impressed me.}

Agree with Bond, too much average stuff.

I did think i wouldn't enjoy hangover 1 and 2 but they were alright. {Ed001's Note - but they didn't exactly make you laugh till you were ribs hurt though, which is the problem these days. Comedies are too busy with a story to actually concentrate on just making you laugh!}

The inbetweeners

Agreed Ed, the other day i watched Police Academy and i was chuckling every couple of minutes.

Bring back the pythons {Ed003's Note - Is their not something in the pipeline about them doing something new ? }

I hope so ed life of Brian is still one of the funniest films around

Gaz {Ed001's Note - that is a work of genius!}

I do like Python, but i think its a sad state of affairs whereby modern comedy has got so poor that a bunch of guys in their 70's have to come out of retirement.

Where is the new Python? Even when they packed in you had the Not the Nine O Clock News team, Only Fools, Blackadder. Ok all on Tv and the last 2 were sitcoms but where are the good sitcoms?

Anyone says Outnumbered you want beating like a gong!

07 Feb 2012 14:15:51
Really looking forward to the hobbit, parts 1 and 2! but begs the question, star wars or lord of the rings?

got to be lord of the rings for me!

Spoc.

Ah now theres a question and one hell of a movie marathon, you'd need plenty of stims for that, bacon sarnies on an iv or something.

For me LOTR is a great read and a good film series, but there's something about Star Wars that gripped culture more. There not even that good as films, people do tend to over hype them because its there childhood, but who as a kid wanted to be aragorn, we all wanted to be Luke, snd i think thats because Star Wars appeals to the inner child wheres LOTR is more adult at least as a book.

Aragorn is my man crush! I dont want to be him - but inside him... Couldnt say the same for Luke. ;)

Fireball XL5

To be honest the 3rd comment has disturbed me.

06 Feb 2012 11:03:10
what with war horse being out at the cinema is there any other world war one movies? Its seems to be all ww2 all i can think of is paths of glory, all quiet on the western front and gallipoli.

Band of Brothers is superb.

has any1 else seen bank job with jason statham in it just seen it amd thouht i wood say it was a worldey {Ed001's Note - excellent film I thought, also enjoyed Killer Elite with him in it. That was a good film, from a book by a guy that since become more known for walking to the poles than his release of national secrets! I mean Ranulph Fiennes, in case you didn't realise.}

Yes seen Bank Job several times, good film. would love to read the secret files.

If you both like Jason Statham then i recommend you both watch the mechanic as that has got to be his best outing since transporter..........MovieBuff

Mechanic was good, and for once it wasn't entirely predictable as well. Transporter is a good shout as well.

Whats the one where he plays a detective looking for a cop killer? That was quite a good film as well. {Ed001's Note - I was trying to think what that was called myself, I like that film too, if you mean the same one as I do!}

Blitz {Ed001's Note - that's it! Thank you, it had been bugging me as I couldn't even order it without a name.}

Yes thats the one Ed Blitz, good film. Wasn't expecting much but was good.

Statham is a consistant performer and bangs out loads of films.

04 Feb 2012 22:12:02
anyone know of any decent horror films i can add to my rental list for the Mrs. No a big fan myself so cant think of any

Gaz

Depends what sort of horror mate, slasher gore fests or mess with your mind psycho ones?

She likes any sort mate.

Easily pleased i like it.

I'd say The Rite with Anthony Hopkins, that was a spooky little affair bit like the exorcist. Last one i saw recently.

The Invasion with Dan Craig and Nicole Kidman not really horror per se but a good take on Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I'm told the remake of the Omen was pretty good not seen it myself.

Cheers mate ill add them now

No worries if i think of anything else i'll put them up

Not a big fan of hoorors but there is a new series just finished in usa called american horror story- its very good, this coming from someone who does not like horrors, ------- u can dl it from well known sites i would of throught its going to be shown on sky as well
spanner

Its already fiished on sky it was on FX. The reason im not a fan of horrors is cos alot of them bore me but American horror story i couldnt stop watchin its far better than any horror film ive seen.

Drive = is most overrated big pile of steaming monkey crap I have ever seen! Discuss.....

I know a lot of critics went mad for it, but i've not seen it, the reviews i read put me off and i tend to avoid anything with too much hype unless its something i really really want to see such as dark knight etc.

Literally just finished watching drive and i thought it was good actually, not at all what i expected but gosling played his role very well and as a result the film turned out well imo
