The avengers without a doubt

Your having a laugh the dark knight rises made the avengers look like daredevil

The dark knight ( ledgers finest performance ) is the best of the lot

Were talking about this years batman film not 2008s

Defo Avengers!

Too many plot holes in DKR for me.

i saw dark night rises 1 of the best movies of all time bain was brilliant in it {Ed039's Note - Seen it last Friday. Thought it was a great end to the trilogy .......... And Anne Hathaway in leather was worth the fee alone)

Not enough of her and her getting close to batman/bruce should ha ve had more substance than one quick good luck kiss
huddz red

I think huddz red was hoping for some softcore porno there ;)

tom hardy is an immense actor

The Dark Knight Rises is one of the most amazing films I've ever seen, simply brilliant!

I was lucky enough to see the new batman film on Saturday and it is a fantastic film, maybe fantastic doesn't give it justice. Christopher Nolan has given us one of, if not the greatest trilogy of all time. I was worried that due to Heath Ledgers captivating performance in The Dark Knight the next film would forever compared to it. But Dark Knight Rises can easily stand on its own, the whole cast was on top form but for me Tom Hardy stole the show, maybe i'm biased being a big fan of Toms but his performance will surely get him at least nominated at the Oscars. The Brutality of Bane was the first time we have seen batman physically intimated and with good cause.

There were a few great twists that im not going to spoil as some might on here, but anyone who knows the batman story maybe by playing on the games like me will see a few things coming.
One thing that was good to see was so many british actors in probably the biggest movie of the year.

My advice if anyone has the chance to see Dark Knight Rises get your tickets booked now as im sure you wont be disappointing, it maybe a long film but i really can't see any Batman fan getting bored.

AAR

Ive heard that batman might be redone again what a con these three films are the best and will nevr be equalled

25 Jul 2012 22:05:17
Dark knight rises is superb...however it could never be better than dark knight...heath ledger was just wow!
Loved amazing spiderman! So much better than the ones with Toby maguire!
This means war is the best new film out on DVD! Completely different to other spy films
Does anyone know whether they are making a Robin film after the end of dark knight rises?

ive not seen the dark knight rises yet, but ive recently wacthed the first two after becoming interested in all of the hype and ive got to say i loved it, especially the dark knight. but i was just wondering what everyone feels about the "man of steel" trailers that have been released, from some of the people responsible for the dark knight trilogy. i have to say, i am very very excited and if its anything like the dark knight movies, you know, the more dramatic superhero movies instead of geeky, it should be awesome
mitch

I don't get it!

23 Jul 2012 15:48:56
ED im getting the hint of another batman and robin. in the dkr the detective changes his name to robin and then begins training in the batcave. thoughts? {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen it yet, so have no idea, sorry.}

Lucky ive seen it but you have just spoiled it for a lot of other people. by the way robin is his real name.
huddz red

But thats where im getting at. his name is robin and then later is in training. i dont care if i spoiled it. no the only one

21 Jul 2012 20:06:46
went to go see the dark night rises last and what a film it is, yes there are a few minor gripes for me but that is just me, it really doesn't feel like 2hours 45 mins at all it is really well paced, the story is solid and bane is bad
huddz red

Went to watch the Dark Knight Rises last night and thought it was a great film. People who know anything about the comics will be able to work Crain things out before they happen, but still a brilliant film.

Don't want to compare it with The Dark Knight because there is no beating Heath Ledgers Joker. However, that is not to say Bane is a poor bad guy. In fact he is quite good because he is ruthless and so physically dominant. Cat woman was a good inclusion as well.

Will have to have a Batman day around Christmas time where I watch all three films one after the other. Will be a long, but very enjoyable day.

Everyone needs to go and watch TDKR in the cinema. Such a great film, with a tears moment or two. Thanks for the memories Bruce.

Yeah i really thought catwoman should have had a bit more time. you can't really compre the dark knight to this one as they have differing theme this one being hope and the dark knight being escalation.
it was really a fitting end to a movie although i was dissappointed with how a certain character went out at the end. heath ledgers jokers brought a psychotic craziness together with intelligence, bane brings a brutalness with the intelligence and cold ruthlessness so they cannot be compared but in my opinion both are truly great villains. great to see a nod to a certain other person at the end as well.
huddz red
p.s thought the man of steel trailer was crap

Man of steel trailer confused me. Hope it is allot better than it looks after that or it will be another superman flop

20 Jul 2012 20:22:08
ed what film have you seen that you would like ti see a sequal made for me it would be zombieland {Ed001's Note - well I will rule out films that are going to have a sequel, otherwise it would be Avengers. Probably have to say Warrior, though I can't see how it could be a continuance of the original film and be a good film. In the hope it could be, that would be the one I will pick.}

Has to be the goonies,i am 42 and i still love that film and so do my kids and i know there was talk of a follow up but never happened

mark d {Ed001's Note - great shout!}

Imagine Goonies: The Next Generation. {Ed001's Note - I was also thinking I wondered what films or set of films people would like to see remade. For me it would be the Cannonball Run movies and Gumball Rally, the car scenes were really weak in the originals and could be so much better now.}

I liked warrior aswell although i didnt think tom hardys accent was that great (it pains me to say coz tom is fast becoming one of my favourite actors). i agree i dont know how they could do a decent remake tho lol
Bedford Gooner {Ed001's Note - made a nice change from having Americans make pathetic attempts at British accents though!}

Yea dont even get me started on that lol the stereotypical posh old british accent!
Bedford Gooner

talking at work about movie sequels that are better than the original film. We had godfather part two, aliens, dark knight, rocky two and american pie two. Anyone have anymore?

Hmmm i disagree with rocky 2 ... first one was amazing. i know im in the minority here but i preferred batman begins to dark knight. the rest i agree with tho (even the aliens one and i feel we might be in the minority there) another dodgy one is that i preferred T2 to T1 ....(yes I await my backlash) preferred spidey 2 to spidey 1 also .... star wars ... empire strikes back and return of jedi both better than a new hope

I agree with you with the above post

Craig

Ok cheers, well i'll explain my reasoning on rocky 2. Don't get me wrong i like them all even 5, but i prefer 2 over 1 because there's more action to it. I know its all character building in 1 but all the stuff with Adrian just bores me, sorry but thats it lol.

Alien is a good film, very tight claustrophobic horror and very good, but again Aliens its more action.

I did consider T2 over T1 and we did have a lengthy argument on that which still isn't settled.

Star Wars was too big a can of worms to open really, but I would go with Empire in 1st place as well.

To be honest I thought the Dark Knight Rises was even better than the Dark Knight. It was a great film.

Sitting at home supping a glass of red watching Falling Down on tv.

Have to admit I forgot how good a film this is!

19 Jul 2012 21:24:43
I'm going cinema on Sunday to watch new batman film..... Hope it's not a let down like spiderman was

I thought the new spiderman was superb...a lot better than the Toby maguire films

19 Jul 2012 00:14:12
ed any good comedies ypu would reccommend that have came out this year
fancy a good laugh {Ed001's Note - one of the other eds suggested the latest American Pie film, not sure if it is any good though. He also said he found the new Spiderman funny, not sure if that is counted though? Sorry, I couldn't think of one good comedy from this year, that I have seen. I only tend to go watch films with my daughter, I tend to watch them mostly when they come on a movie channel or something. So I haven't really seen a lot from this year.}

Ted is really hilarious mate. Great film, helps if your into Family guy though.
KiwiRed

Wonderlust was a good comedy with Jennifer Anniston slightly gross though!

I was surprised how funny the new American pie was..... I'd recommend it to anyone..... I thought it would be a huge let down but it's not...... Check out the end credit scene with stiflers mum and kind dad..... Still makes me laugh

Why don't you get a dvd with a famous comedian e.g russel howard and watch that, that way you get to watch something you will know you will laugh at.
huddz red

I know it didn't come out this year but I love the inbetweeners movie

Hasnt came out in america yet

21 jump street and the other guys both are very good

18 Jul 2012 15:39:38
anyone know why glasgows imax theatre aint showing batman in 3D ?!

I don't think it's in 3d pal, it's not at Scunthorpe were I'm goin

Chris Nolan doesnt do 3D lol. Tbh, it doesnt really need it, great film as is

16 Jul 2012 14:38:33
has anyone seen "tucker and dale vs evil"? really funny and worth a watch if you haven't.

JK92 {Ed001's Note - I have to agree, it was surprisingly good.}

14 Jul 2012 12:39:54
Fancied starting a little debate on here. What are peoples favourite film series ( e.g. star wars ) and reason why.
sparky

What a good question! Let me think......Has to be the matrix trilogy..... Just all 3 films r a really good watch

I'll always say the original 3 karate kid films coz they remind me of my childhood, il always remember watching that Crane kick at the end of the 1st film over n over lol, Great fun to watch and I loved the soundtrack too!

Evil Dead Trilogy. Ash is indeed the King.

Cez

Only 2 and 3 were good of the evil deads. the first was supposed to be a proper horror but it was crap. hoppefully when i watch the dark night rises it might be the nolan batman triloghy, i did enjoy burtons two batmans as well. and the first two aliens(and prometheus). i suppose there is no perfect trilogy but a couple of good films and a s**t one/two in the series.
huddz red

Has to be Polica Academy.

My top 3 are Indiana Jones, back to the future and star wars.

Shrek {Ed001's Note - that was unexpected!}

The dark knight but I hope it soon changes to the dark knight rises

Lord of the Rings

andydee MUFC

The Bourne Trilogy!

dmedly {Ed003's Note - how was the red wine ? }

Excellent, Ed003...went very well with the rib-eye!

dmedly {Ed003's Note - good man,headache in the morning maybe }

Lethal weapon !! not individually the best films but collectively up there defo {Ed001's Note - that is the difficulty, every single set of films has a weak link, so how can you pick a set of them? I really can't think of one set that doesn't have one film that spoils them, at least.}

Dragon tatoo trilogy hasnt got a weak link

Toy story

TDK trilogy, best set of films I've seen in a long time

12 Jul 2012 23:50:56
well first twitter reviews of dredd have come through and it seems to have been given an all round thumbs up by film critics. basically they said loads of violence and blood, urban never takes his helmet off (good) and the script is good. oh and lena hedely is pretty good as the villain as well. can't wait to see it now.
huddz red

12 Jul 2012 16:28:05
ed trying to decide what film series to watch nigtmare on elm street friday the 13th scream or tex chainsaw
what your thoughts {Ed001's Note - no good asking me, I think they are all awful, sorry. I find horror films dismal, particularly Scream, which was one of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to see, in my opinion.}

I thought the 1st scream was good back in the day, but now not so much, I love the 1st nightmare on elm street ( 1st horror film I ever watched n shot my pant as a teenager lol ) But yet again the rest were awful, I really don't think there is a good set of horror films, it tends to be the 1st is good n the rest are crap...... If u wanna watch a good stand alone film then seven is really good

10 Jul 2012 16:00:00
Anyone else think that spiderman wasn't a good film?.....yeah I enjoyed the reptile baddie coz he's my favourite of them all, but on the whole it was just telling the same story over again!! I was expecting alot better? The end credit scene was awful too......I won't be wasting my money on the DVD or the sequel

Yeah I thought it was an poor film too. By the end I was bored to tears with it. The lizard character looked awful in my opinion was way too weak and defeated so easily. Also I thought some of the acting was terrible only Andrew Garfield the only one who was any good but was massively let down by such a weak script and a very poor story line. Massive disappointment! But hey this is only my opinion.

Waghead

We all new it was an origin story that is why it was just retelling the story

the sequal would be different as it culd be more original as it is set more when he was still discovering his powers and it would be still at school

I actually thought it was a really good film. They had to do an origin film otherwise it wouldn't make sense having all new characters.

Consider what Nolan did with Batman. Had to do an origin story because it was a reboot. Batman Begins was a decent film, but The Dark Knight was in a whole different league to it because they could advance the charatcer and bring in darker characters, i.e. the Joker.

I thought they did Spiderman really well. Got the origin in, but tried to show us Peter's human side, i.e. he was on a personal vengance mission rather than trying to save the city. He wasn't a hero, but the situation made him become one.

I imagine the next one will be darker, with Spiderman having to make difficult decisions, i.e. not all characters will survive unlike the Raimi trilogy.

I'm looking forward to it. Although I agree the end credits added nothing to the film. But then again, after watching the next film it may make perfect sense. They wont give too much away in the end credits. Want to get people talking and returning for the sequel.

Stewie Griffin

Good point stewie griffin, thanks for the comments..... Looking forward to new batman film..... I'll post when I've seen it

09 Jul 2012 20:07:38
cannot wait for the new Bond film "Skyfall", seen the trailer and it looks epic.

Check it out

Hope its a return to form a la Casino and a massive improvement on Quantum.

Looks awesome

Its still not a patch on casino royale but quantum of solace does get better each time i see it.

09 Jul 2012 04:58:59
Off to see Ted this weekend. Looks hilarious, anyone seen it? And if so what did you thjink of it?
KiwiRed

Im thinking of watching it online. I watched the first 10 mins or so, and it was pretty funny. I suppose it depends on how much you like Family Guy and other Seth Macfarlene produced shows?

Jigglypoof

Ok cool. I love Seth Macfarlane produced shows tbh and am really looking forward to this.
KiwiRed

Genuinely excited for the dark knight rises, I really enjoyed the two previous films and cannot wait. Very rarely can I not wait for a film.
sparky

I hope it isn't a let down after how epic the Dark Kinght was. But I just can't see them letting us down. This seems to be a mixture of 1 & 2 for me. A Bruce Wayne who is unsure of who he is without Batman and because Bane is stronger than him, he is unsure of his strength as Batman.

Probably see Batman either give his life or walk away with a serious injury as they will want to end the trilogy so that no further movies can be made in this universe.

Can't wait to watch it. Gutted all the IMAX showings are booked otherwise I would have loved to go see it in IMAX.

06 Jul 2012 18:30:26
Watch Paul. Thought it was very funny.

04 Jul 2012 14:26:49
went to go see the amazing spiderman with my son last night, got to say it was pretty good. it spends the first hours fleshing out the characters which is good in my opinion as it makes it a more 'human' spiderman. any way my boy liked it and so did i, so go watch it people.
huddz red

Some of it was really cool! But like all comic book nerds I cant live with changes to the source material....Doh

Jigglypoof

It had to be a it different from the first raimi spidey film as they're both essentially telling the same origin story. ut to be honest apart from the lizard not even remotely looking like the lizard from the comics a lot of it did try and stay fairly close to the comics such as peter and gwen in high school before mj came along and captain stacy dying. i think now its confirmed to be a trilogy gwen will probably die in one of the next two films, but who will the villians be?
huddz red

Yeah Gwen will die, but in the comic she blames Spider-Man for her fathers death, which obviously added to the storyline. I was disappointed that Harry and M.J werent in the film in some capacity, because Gwens death brings Peter and M.J's relationship closer leading to there romance. On the plus side I did enjoy the blossoming friendship of Peter and Flash towards the end...... I didnt really understand the end of credits scene? Was it Norman Osborn? and as Peter never found Uncle Bens killer and they made a point of the tattoo he had on his wrist will he return in the sequel? Will Peters quest to hunt down Uncle Bens killer eventually lead to the killer feeling the need to protect himself from Spider-man and acquire powers himself? If so? I think he may turn out to be Electro.

Jigglypoof

I am with you on the electro thing, how else would he be able to et in and out of the jail cell without the guards knowing, although someone did suggest it coukd be the vulture.
huddz red

Chameleon perhaps? Im sure he made android versions of Peters parents at some point, in an attempt to prove that Peter was actually Spider-man? And it would explain how he got in out of the prison with no problems.

Jigglypoof

The bully flash is being lined up to be venom in a venom movie

03 Jul 2012 00:11:08
Why does everyone love the SAW films? I think they're all sh!te.

A film I just saw the other, Fast Five. Give it a watch. Very good!

G.A.G.U.S {Ed001's Note - I agree with both, Saw bores me to tears and I quite like Fast 5.}

Fast five is ok ut its gone way off topic for me, the fast and furious series is about cars and fast five doesn't nearly have enough racing in it for me, ut thats not to say i don't like it.
huddz red

Here are changing the fast and furious films from racing which have become stale to more of a hiest type

Have had it just arrive on rental. Agree SAW are awful, sicko's enjoy them.

No the 1st saw was a quality film n all rest were awful.......

The first saw is a great film, it is the only time I've walked out of a cinema thinking 'wtf just happened there?' and was totally taken by surprise with the ending. The 2nd one wasn't too bad, the rest are forgetable

Gothamsreckoning
