Who's everyones favourite movie character? For me its Heath Ledgers joker in The Dark Knight.

Great Choice Op rather than copy you il take Tom Hanks Forrest Gump.

Larky Bear

Jack Nicholson as Randle Patrick McMurphy. Outstanding.

FTE

Was that One flew over a cuckoos nest? Only seen it once brilliant film though.

Larky Bear

Sure is LB. When Nicholson was in his prime he was an absolute power-house of an actor, completely mesmerizing.

FTE {Ed001's Note - I have to say, it is hard to argue against that being one of the greatest performances of all time. I wouldn't have it as even close to being a favourite though, great as he was in that role. My favourite character would have to be between Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon and Darth Vader. Though I also would have to give an honourary shout out to Yoda and any of the Yuen Baio, Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung characters in the series of Hong Kong martial arts films the three did together. I have to stress, these are my favourites, rather than being the ones I would call the best.}

Definitely jar jar binks

I liked jack Nicholsons character in the departed, but I think all actors in the movie played there part really good

I liked jack Nicholson in anger management, still cracks me up every time I watch it, especially the part where they go to the budda place

Anthony Hopkins in .red dragon, silence of the lambs and Hannibal . As Dr.Hannibal (the cannibal) Lector!

Id have to say Heath Ledger as the Joker as well.

what is everyones most overrated movie? {Ed001's Note - Pulp Fiction, it was dire but everyone raves about it.}

Grease, totally hate that movie an unholy passion. Even though I've not actually seen it.

FTE

Don't know how you can say Grease when you've not seen it. The Expendables for me.

Larky Bear

Sometimes LB, you just know it in yer bones.

FTE

Brilliant mate carry on!

Larky Bear

Harry Potter.

Jason Vor Hees
Scouse_Pride {Ed007's Note - Harry Potter must be up there but basically any film my Mrs wants to watch is chronic, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Scream, Pretty Woman etc. I've never seen The Goonies, because she likes it I reckon it must be honking. Anyone over 12 that likes Harry Potter needs help, I watched half the first one and just thought... WTF!!}

Laughs to the above! - my Mrs loves Footloose!

What did people think of the hobbit?

Thought it was like dancing angels on my eyes

30 Jun 2013 11:29:10
it was good and excited for the next part, can't wait. Not as good as the rings obviously but it is good.

I liked it but didn't think it needed to be 3 hours, felt very drawn out. Looking forward to the new part aswell {Ed008's Note - I felt it was a good film like all films it has its parts where it's interesting and the rest is storytelling..

I actually prefer movies that are long. gives time for the story to be told and expressed.

The hobbit was a bad let down

28 Jun 2013 12:03:19
What's everyone's favourite movies from there childhood?
It's way before my time but I loved The Swiss Family Robinson. Bought it on DVD recently & its still ace.

Larky Bear {Ed001's Note - Goonies!}

Jurassic Park

28 Jun 2013 14:54:27
Goonies, he Man, transformers the movie, flight of dragons.

Cannibal Holocaust and Beastmaster

FTE

The land before time when I was little.
huddz red

Flight of thé navigator.

Matty b {Ed001's Note - what was the name of the film where some kids build a spaceship out of a fairground ride? Then fly off and meet aliens? Sounds terrible, but it was a classic, I loved it as a kid.}

I think that was called the explorers and was it not made out of a bin? It starred river phoenix and Ethan hawke

30 Jun 2013 19:47:57
Ace Ventura still hilarious

Bulmer

Short Circuit 1 & 2, They Live, Robocop, Predator, Childs Play, Cool Runnings to name a few

28 Jun 2013 09:13:57
what is every ones top 5 best action movies

28 Jun 2013 14:34:54
lethal weapons, die hard, the rock, and I know its classed as a war film but I think its more of an action film i'd say where eagle dare.

Last Boy Scout, Tango and Cash, Commando, Universal Soldier and First Blood.

FTE

Mannequin! sorry its a guilty pleasure as is secret of my success and adventures in babysitting! lol - can't beat die hard and commando though!

27 Jun 2013 22:06:52
Has anyone seen Life Of Pi what was your thoughts on it? I recommend it to all I passed it round and got mixed reactions but what a stunning spectacle of a movie it was all the way through great FX great story captures the imagination must see there's a twist which I wouldn't ruin for anyone kind of bugged me what do yous think if uve watched it? Great site bit of a movie geek myself.

Larky Bear

Life of Pi was the most boring film I've ever seen! - good special effects but i'd rather watch paint dry! - rubbish!

27 Jun 2013 21:16:31
What are people's favourite movie scenes ever? {Ed001's Note - for me it is the moment when Bruce Lee rips some hair off Chuck Norris, right at the end of Way of the Dragon.}

That's a belter Ed watched the fight on YouTube not so long ago Bruce just makes me laugh man! Great question Op there's so many great scenes in some serious films that I couldn't pick one this just popped out there and I love when Tom Hanks swims ashore to greet Lt Dan as his Boat Jenny smashes through a small pier then Forrest says "that's my boat!" Gets me every time Haha Hanks has so many great lines in that film it's always a feel good movie for myself. Just as I thought about Hanks there a great scene where John Coffey uses his magic on the Wardens wife in Green Mile Michael Clark Duncan was an awesome actor!

Larky Bear

Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken in True Romance.

Ok which do people think was the better franchise? Die Hard or Lethal Weapon? Myself i'd go Lethal Weapon, good balance of action and humour, better humour, less annoying characters, more realistic, less repetitive, just better all around. {Ed008's Note - Die Hard 1-4 were really good as a franchise with for me Die Hard being one of the best films I've ever seen. I've seen Lethal Weapon but Die Hard is better for me.

Got to be die hard for me lethal weapon is very good also but die hard edges is although the new die hard was aweful

dio1989 {Ed001's Note - I would go Lethal Weapon, purely because only the first Die Hard is any good, the rest are dire. Whereas Lethal Weapon 1 is good and 4 has Jet Li in, though two and three aren't up to much either.}

Die Hard 3 is good ed. {Ed001's Note - I didn't enjoy it myself.}

28 Jun 2013 14:32:08
I think all the lethal weapons are good whereas die hard just got progressively worse. At least they knew when to call it a day with lethal weapon. With lethal weapon they always managed to freshen it up a little whereas die hard just seemed to be the same stuff over and over. First die hard is quality but the others aren't upto much. And I think the weakest lethal weapon (number three) is still better than the die hard sequels. And yeah ed Jet Li say no more.

22 Jun 2013 12:31:32
Has anybody watched world war Z if so is it any good is it worth going to the cinema to watch.

Haven't seen it but I hear it really good.

Its awesome, a lot better than expected

Excellent film

Thought it was good though I'd like to see them release a version with the Russian ending.

whats everyone's favorite sports movie, for me its Any Given Sunday, weather you like american football or not the film is fantastic another great performance by Pacino and his speech before the last game could get anybody pumped up.

always a red

Brillent film great speech but mine is the express {Ed008's Note - Money ball is mine

Have u seen the express ed and is that the one with brad pitt? {Ed008's Note - Nope not heard of it till now will look it up, and yes the one with Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill

I recommend it if you like american football movies with a twist and never seen it I not that found of brad but may give it ago

Great shout Ed I thought Moneyball is a great film, was nice to see Jonah Hill step away from comedy and show he's a good actor.

always a red

Coach Carter for me, really good film

Coach carter, remember the titans, tin cup and legend of bagger vance

Ack17

Dodgeball

Theres only one Jimmy Grimble is a goodie imo.

KiwiRed

Just watched man of steel it was a good movie really enjoyed it.

Just been to see it movie of the year in my opinion {Ed008's Note - Haven't seen it yet but it'll be hard to top Django Unchained which was brilliant!

Loved Django ed, haven't seen man of steele yet but it's made by Nolan (batman) so it should be good. but it will never be as good as batman!

I liked man of steel but I though it just fell short I duno if I was expecting to much but it wasnt in batmans league I don't think an not in djangos league either

dio1989

Batman was good but man of steel was much better more action batman got a bit boring at times but man of steel never got boring throughout the film.

I felt man of steel could of been an epic. but it just looked a bit rushed. should of been more of costner. he was awesome and more of clark finding his place in the world. but hey you can't make a 5 hour movie can you. the effects were good but a bit over done. but it was ok. 3rd best superman movie. which isn't bad isit. hope they put a bit more character building in the sequel with a more solid script. 7 out of 10

Im not talking bs here but I did nod off for a few mins whistle I was watching it I was tired I didn't think it was much action in it tbh they spent 2 hours telling u how why an where superman came from an why he is like he is an ladt 15 mins fighting the last fight seen against zard or how u spell ot wasnt very good should have been longer an better the fighing sence in matrix in tje city was much better

Dio

I thought Man of Steel was a cracker personally. Highly recommend it.

World War Z is coming out soon and since zombie films are a firm favourite of mines, I for one will be going to see it, what's your thoughts, what's your favourites and what's the worst?

Top 3
Dawn ( Romero Obviously )
Return of the living Dead
28 Days Later

Bottom 3
Zombie Flesh Eaters
Video Dead
City of the Living Dead

Demon dead, alien dead, chemically dead and C. H. U. Ds all count

FTE {Ed001's Note - I quite like Zombieland.}

Zombielands a cracker, Woody Harrelson is great in that.

KiwiRed
{Ed008's Note - Loved Zombieland! Really enjoyed these Zombie films Shaun of the Dead, The Crazies, 30 days of Night, 28 weeks later and Rec.

Shaun of the Dead is great Ed008! Love the scene where they go through the record collection to see which ones they can throw at the zombies!

Never heard of the crazies, I take it its good? Is that a serious zombie movie or a more light hearted one like Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead?

KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - I had forgotten about Shaun of the Dead, that is a classic! Crazies is serious, but a very good film, I had forgotten about that one too, as it was not really marketed as a zombie film.}

Isnt 30 days of night bout vampiers ed?

dio1989 {Ed008's Note - Lol yeah my bad their all the same to me anyways!

Lol they all eat people and have you seen the sequel to that its like putting nails in your eyes any thought on the new superman film {Ed008's Note - Exactly so their zombies and nope haven't seen the sequel haven't seen it yet will watch it next week trailer wise looked really good.

Man of Steel looks immense. I will defo be going to watch that, comes out on my birthday too so should be a good prezzie to myself.

KiwiRed

Continuing the Zombie theme, World War Z looks like it could be a good one as well.

KiwiRed

World war z does look a good film just came back from man of steel I thought it started off really well but was a little disappointed a little with the film I think I was expecting to much still a good watch tho

16 Jun 2013 10:39:03
personally I didn't care much for shaun of the dead. Have any of you seen the Peter Jackson film Dead Alive? Worth a watch.

Dead Alive aka Braindead, now that is a classic. Some of thee best death scenes in zombie history.

P. S. I kick arse for the lord.

FTE

I have read World war Z and if the film is half as good then you are in for a treat. The one thing I don't like though is tha these zombies are more like the things out of I am legend whereas in the book it is the classic (Imo better) slower zombie.

Who's everyones current favourite actor? For me its Di Caprio, not sure who else could have pulled off them roles in Shutter Island and Inception! {Ed008's Note - Bruce Willis or Christian Bale add that with Jake Gyllenhaal can't pick out of them 3 pushing for an answer then Bruce Willis.

Di Caprio, Christian Bale and Matt Damon (I'm serious, Bourne movies. )

Sorry I forgot Tom Hanks, so Damon can get out the way!

08 Jun 2013 17:39:24
Hanks was great but has dropped off. Matt Damon is a very good actor.

Di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Levitt/ Morgan Freeman/ Gary Oldman/Will Smith (really cannot decide on the third choice)

Stephen graham anyone? Fantastic in everything he's been in, even if the movie/program wasn't that good, I don't think I could have made it to the end of Best Laid Plans if he wasn't in it.

always a red

Josh Brolin is a very good actor in my opinion, I quite like Di Caprio too

KiwiRed

Bruce willis is in some good films including red pulp fiction and sin city. But as far as acting goes he has got to be one of the worst along with Arnie.

Gaz {Ed008's Note - His acting skills were brilliant in The Sixth Sense you can't judge someone acting in action films for me as its fast paced the whole way.

Still got to disagree. He was good in sixth sense not brilliant. He was still poor in pulp fiction even if it is a good film. Batman films are action but christian bale and heath ledgers are still. both very good {Ed008's Note - Die Hard is action all the way though? Whilst in Batman they tell a story in between action scenes it might just be me loving Bruce Willis too much lol

Di Caprio for me thought he's been on fire for years loved him in Django thought that film was great. Everything Tom Hardy touches just turns to hold at the moment aswell. Watched Gangster Squad recently & though Josh Brolin & Sean Penn were both excellent!

What channel in england does everybody hates chris come one {Ed008's Note - I'm sure that's a old program from a couple of years back used to air on Channel 5 not sure if it repeats on it.

02 Jun 2013 12:07:57
having recently bought the 50th anniversary Bond blu ray boxset would anyone be interested in a review at some point?

01 Jun 2013 23:14:53
Just watched Shutter Island, great movie and one of my favorites.

Probably my favourite film ever. If anyone hasn't seen it I recommend you watch it.

02 Jun 2013 12:05:33
Ok but what's your take on it. Was he actually mad or wasn't he?

Yeah I think he was insane.

I think by the end he had realised what had happened and in his moment of clarity decided he no longer wanted to be that person. So rather than regress he decided to pretend to be insane again to receive the lobotomy.

Awful disappointing film kept waiting for something to happen and nothing ever did, and I worked out the plot half way through the film. {Ed001's Note - I was beginning to think I was the only one who didn't enjoy it then! I found it a real letdown too.}

Terrible film. Sussed the twist early on, there is a scene when he is walking round the institution with one of the wardens/doctors. He is wearing the exact same clothes as the patients -turned it off pretty much then.

Any good heist type movies? And is Oceans Eleven any good? {Ed039's Note - Oceans Eleven was surprisingly good, I enjoyed it, I watched Tower Heist a couple of weeks ago, Ben Stiller & Eddie Murphy comedy hiest movie, I have a silly sense of humour but I liked it)

Silly sense of humour sounds just like me! I'll have to give them a watch. Thanks ed

02 Jun 2013 11:53:13
Ocean's Eleven is very good. I assume your talking the Clooney/ Pitt version. On paper it does look a little unworkable with such a big cast. I'm guessing that's why you were surprised it worked Ed39? Ocean's 12 however isn't as good, its daft in the middle and not good daft either. Shame as it was shaping up nicely. Ocean's 13 is an improvement though and is more like the first one. {Ed039's Note - Thats exactly why I was surprised, I have been meaning to watch the others, I will get round to it at some point)

Italian job (original)
Also the killing. its an old stanley kubrick film. really enjoyed it

Best heist film is INSIDE MAN twists that will leave your head hurting or SWORDFISH was massive in my world.

Kopping a feel

Saw Inside Man last night. Absolutely brilliant film, very clever and well directed.

Can pick this one up cheap in Tesco it's Called the Town pretty sure Affleck wrote it & Directed definately Started in it alongside Jeremy Renner they were both excellent exciting funny wee bit different. If uve not seen Argo It's a fantastic film worth a watch also Ben Affleck he's really started to impress me recently.

Larky Bear {Ed001's Note - good call, Town is a good film, surprisingly good, Affleck is excellent in it.}
