Batman v Superman is being to get my interest now:

26 Nov 2015 19:28:56
I just saw a trailer for Suicide Squad, it looks good. I am getting excited for that movie too now, there are some really good superhero (or antihero in this case) movies coming up.

26 Nov 2015 08:49:53
Not that I am suggesting Hollywood lacks originality but there are yet more remakes and sequels in the pipeline.

First off Men In Black 4, but this time there is a twist. Not much of a twist, just a woman in black. Hardly earth shattering or even interesting.

Then there is the remake of the Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle, Kickboxer. Oh and they are already planning a sequel to Kickboxer as well. I am yawning already and I love martial arts films! Even worse news for the chances of them being well acted, JCVD is in them.

25 Nov 2015 07:00:19
Does anyone have any surprising choices for film genres they like? Such as Ed007 who loves chick flicks.

My brother in law to be loves Bollywood films, even though he has no idea what they are saying half the time as he doesn't speak the language!

Oh and his other half, despite being a sweet, kind hearted woman, absolutely loves violent action movies. The more violent and bloodthirsty the more she seems to like them.

26 Nov 2015 17:26:58
I kind of enjoy a lot of B movies. Even though they are utterly she*p, I can't pull myself away from some of them for some reason.

{Ed002's Note - There are some great B movies out there.}

26 Nov 2015 19:27:17
I like some B movies, and anything with the Marx brothers in it.

26 Nov 2015 22:23:17
Ed mate with respect I don't think knowing the language makes much difference in watching Bollywood films.

{Ed001's Note - I have to say I wouldn't know. I am sure no one watches them for the acting!}

27 Nov 2015 21:28:27
Definitely ed. They all look to be the same plot anyway.

{Ed001's Note - it is the musicals aspect that I particularly dislike, I really can't stand musicals. When they burst into a song routine, I want to put my foot through the TV screen to end my misery.}

28 Nov 2015 12:40:50
I just pop on the earphones whenever i go to watch any Bollywood flick. Half of them you don't even need to hear the whole film to tell the story

28 Nov 2015 14:06:18
Easy on the eye harsh on the ears

25 Nov 2015 05:50:08
The first trailer is out for Captain America: Civil War and it looks sooooo good!

{Ed001's Note -

25 Nov 2015 13:40:46
Black panther looks good. I was surprised there was no Spiderman shown.
Looks like war machine dies.
Captain America seems almost arrogant in the trailer,in his defense of bucky,will be interesting to see how it plays out. I am curious to see how vision and scarlett witch are used,in posters they look like they're on opposite sides,but traditionally in the comics they fall in love. The trailer did look good though.

Falcon really needs to step up in terms of getting show time,his character is a bit on the periphery in all 3 movies he's featured in.Could do with some real development here,but the trailer seems to focus on Bucky and Cap vs Stark.

{Ed001's Note - Cap is always on the arrogant side in the comics, I never liked him as a character there, but they toned it down a fair bit for the films. Or at least that is how I remember him.}

25 Nov 2015 13:43:29
BTW also looking forward to Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo the main antagonist.It's a good character and I like Bruhl as an actor.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't know who he was, but now I have looked him up I remember him in Rush, where he was excellent.}

25 Nov 2015 13:58:26
I've seen him in goodbye lenin ,2 days and paris,and as you mentioned Rush,he was brilliant in all 3 for me. Given how cold and calculating he played Niki in Rush I'm hoping for something of the same transitioning into his character in Civil War.

I personally never liked captain America in comics and avoided those story arcs with him in. He was just bland for me,and so inflexible in his morals,except when it suited the writers.

26 Nov 2015 19:27:56
I agree, bland is a very good description of his character in the comics.

28 Nov 2015 14:05:10
Just too American. I know he is captain America but all that yo go us were so cool ra ra team America stuff just bored me. And yeah boring character. At least Thor an tony stark have a personality.

{Ed001's Note - I really like Robert Downey as Stark. Not keen on Thor personally though. I do like the Thor movies, but because of Kat Denning rather than the films themselves.}

28 Nov 2015 15:01:05
Prefer Natalie Portman myself. I like the first Thor movie was quite good. Second dropped off a bit. Downey as stark is good because he does play him as an arrogant arse.

{Ed001's Note - I thought the second Thor was better and Portman has the figure of a boy, she doesn't even have boobs.}

28 Nov 2015 15:15:12
Yeah was still a good film.

28 Nov 2015 16:37:04
So eds a boob man

{Ed001's Note - yep.}

28 Nov 2015 16:46:34
Now Scarlett Johansson your talking. Kat dennings I think her mouths too big for her face.

{Ed001's Note - she is ok, Johanson I mean, Dennings is hot.}

28 Nov 2015 16:50:17
Personal preference mate if we all went for the same type it would be a bit boring.

{Ed001's Note - very true.}

28 Nov 2015 18:04:41
As wise man once said variety is the spice of life

{Ed001's Note - you didn't need the word man in that sentence, once you said it was someone wise, you knew it would have to be a man.....}

28 Nov 2015 21:40:25
Now would you say that to ms dennings?

{Ed001's Note - damn right I would. If she hasn't got a sense of humour she would never cope with me anyway.}

29 Nov 2015 00:22:29
But do Americans get scouse humour?

{Ed001's Note - not sure they get humour, judging by Will Ferrell and Jack Black. So probably no chance of getting Scouse humour. Luckily I still have my youthful stunning good looks to win her over with....}

29 Nov 2015 05:34:57
Kat dennings huh. well at least you must have those pics of hers to satisfy you 😂😊👍. Never really thought there was anyone particularly hot in the avengers movies but the one played Scarlett witch was good

{Ed001's Note - isn't that Scarlett Johanson that Mort was talking about above? Or have I got her mixed up with someone else?}

29 Nov 2015 11:41:36
Johansson's black widow. He means scarlet witch, Elizabeth Olson, younger sister of the Olson twins.

29 Nov 2015 17:22:05
Kat dennings was one of those celebs who got hacked and had nude photos posted on the web ed.

{Ed001's Note - damn, why haven't I seen those? So where can I go for a look at those????}

29 Nov 2015 21:04:34
Dunno I was too distracted by Jennifer Lawrence

{Ed001's Note - well that's no good.}

29 Nov 2015 22:30:13
It wasn't from her point of view indeed. I rather enjoyed it

{Ed001's Note - hahaha.}

29 Nov 2015 22:32:50
Try a google search

{Ed001's Note - not sure that would be a good idea.}

30 Nov 2015 18:29:04
Try a Google search in incognito mode 😂

01 Dec 2015 23:03:05
I was there the day it all broke on reddit.

Was one of the most exhausting days of my life.

02 Dec 2015 21:26:41
Haha true. I didn't catch it till late. Was almost late for work.

23 Nov 2015 09:09:44
aother GI Joe movie, really? Why? I mean why subject the world to another?

23 Nov 2015 14:07:57
Look at what's going on in the world Ed. They're softening it up for us by making a Hollywood movie about it.

They did this after 9/11
They did it after 7/7
Now they're doing it after this Paris "attack".

{Ed001's Note - watching GI Joe might make us welcome something to put us out of our misery!!}

23 Nov 2015 22:33:20
I actually enjoyed the first one. Wasn't perfect but pure nostalgia. The second was complete Barry White. Did watch the cartoon movie back in the summer.

23 Nov 2015 09:06:17
Does anyone here rate Vin Diesel as an actor? I can't be the only one who thinks he is rubbish can I?

Or is everyone else looking forward to Fast and Furious 48, Riddick 4 (and spin off TV series Merc City) and XXX3?

23 Nov 2015 14:09:18
I liked a few of his movies, the one I remember most though is Pitch Black. That was pretty decent for what it was.

23 Nov 2015 22:35:16
Pitch black was decent. I don't mind the fast franchise. Pure pop corn. No I don't think he's the best actor. But then how many of that sort of action type actor have been good actors.

21 Nov 2015 08:35:12
Has the new Star Wars film really got any chance of living up to expectations? I just can't see how it can be as good as people are expecting it to be.

21 Nov 2015 15:47:59
Reminds me a bit of phantom menace Everyone of certain age was over excited an over hyped it.

{Ed001's Note - I was one of them people.}

22 Nov 2015 11:49:40
So was I. But look how that turned out. Also it involves the most overrated person in Hollywood this time around so I'm going in with low expectations.

22 Nov 2015 15:51:53
It will never ever live up to bloated expectations. I always think Nostalgia ruins film series.
The script writing acting and directing in the originals were far from good.BUT the concept was so new to the audience it covered up for that,whereas now,people have played games,seen films,seen spinoffs etc,you can't just rely on ''the force'' and ''lightsabre'' duels to carry weak parts of the film.
For me I have 0 doubt it will break the box office takings. I almost think to ensure they get a good write up,they'll have to kill a main character (Likely Chewy or Solo),just to satisfy fans thirst for a plot thickener.
I personally hope as a fan they explain a bit more of the force,and go deeper into its power and use,for a side plot,rather than it just be about the galactic infighting after episode 6

26 Nov 2015 19:41:29
A friend of mine who is a few years older than me, he and his friends dressed up as jedi's with all the peripherals and stuff to the cinema when they went to see Phantom Menace.

{Ed001's Note - Ed007 dresses up just to watch them at home, let alone when he goes to the flicks.}

28 Nov 2015 00:04:49
Long as he ain't dressing up as Leia. Especially when she's on jabbas barge

{Ed007's Note - I dressed up as Darth Vader last week to go and pick up my new PS4 for it's midnight release :)
Before the new film comes out you just know that everybody's going to pan it, it won't be 'cool' to say you enjoyed it.... I've had a premonition. For me Star Wars is a bit like sex - even bad sex is good.}

28 Nov 2015 14:01:29
Sex is like air bond. Its only important when you ain't getting any.

{Ed007's Note - My sex life went downhill when I got married, they never tell you that bit :(

28 Nov 2015 15:02:00
Did you never hear about the one thing guaranteed to kill a women's sex drive, wedding cake.

{Ed007's Note - Unfortunately I hadn't but I did make sure all my friends did!}

28 Nov 2015 18:03:57
But do you know the reversal trick?

{Ed007's Note - She doesn't drink so I'm snookered there....

28 Nov 2015 18:39:45
Its more expensive than that. Usually involves shoes

{Ed007's Note - My Mrs isn't a shoe fan, I don't think she's ever watched Sex in the City right enough which seems to be where women's fascination with shoes stems from.}

28 Nov 2015 20:20:36
I thought it was hardwired in

{Ed007's Note - Nope, think back to when it all started....

28 Nov 2015 21:38:03
Cant say I've studied the phenomenon of female obsession with expensive footwear that much.

{Ed007's Note - Not even sniffing them?}

29 Nov 2015 00:21:42
Er no

{Ed007's Note - Tut, you've never lived man!}

29 Nov 2015 00:53:01
Shoes or women?

{Ed007's Note - Both!}

29 Nov 2015 14:56:54
One maybe definitely not the other

{Ed007's Note - Go with the shoes ;)

29 Nov 2015 21:05:03
Depends who's wearing them

{Ed007's Note - That's part of the allure...

19 Nov 2015 15:28:05
Who would everyone like to see as the new Bond if they can't convince Craig to come back? Who IMO was the best Bond ever.

{Ed001's Note - I agree on him being the best ever, not sure who could replace him. I honestly can't think of anyone off the top of my head.}

19 Nov 2015 16:37:52
I know I'll get flak for this. I am by no means a racist but I just wouldn't want to see Idris Elba in the role. Yes he is a good actor, changing a traditional character like Bond it just wouldn't do for me. When you think of Bond you get a certain image and I just wouldn't want to change that next time i go to a bond movie. The Pc brigade thinks otherwise though. As for someone to replace him
Fassbender would be a good choice IMO.(Magneto) Another one who would fit is Statham if they decide to make itan all out action affair

{Ed001's Note - Fassbender doesn't have the right physicality for my liking.}

19 Nov 2015 21:07:40
Idriss is a top bloke and a great but I don't see him as bond. Fassbender I'm not sure on. And I don't think Damian Lewis is right for it.

As for best. Dalton is closest to book bond. Connery is the template. And Craig is very good.

20 Nov 2015 11:48:33
Oh and as an outside shot. Andrew Lincoln from the walking dead?

20 Nov 2015 11:47:53
He's still contracted for another film isn't he?

Gerard Butler may be one,as long as he doesn't have to do an accent and could be himself he's not a great actor but against previous bonds he can't be much worse.

I liked Chitwell Ejiofor in Serenity,playing the bad man,and he did some good actions shorts.

It would be nice to see it go to some one well under 40,that's always been my main stickler with Bond,I can't imagine a 40 year old doing the stuff he does.

22 Nov 2015 09:17:11
Henry Cavill has the Bond look about him.

22 Nov 2015 11:50:18
Isn't he the guy in person of interest? If so then yeah.

22 Nov 2015 15:45:24
Mort I think that's Jim Calviezel

23 Nov 2015 14:11:30
Michael Caine.

My names James Bond, not a lot of people know that.

23 Nov 2015 22:36:39
Yeah I always get them two confused. Thanks bobatron.

18 Nov 2015 07:26:25
Yet another reboot in the pipeline, this time Lara Croft Tomb Raider. If it couldn't work with Angelina Jolie in the lead, it might well be just unworkable at the moment. Mind a decent script might help make it worthwhile!

18 Nov 2015 22:22:28
Depends who they cast. I do like Jolie. One of the better actresses of her generation. I just thought the films, especially the 2nd, just wasn't tomb raider.

26 Nov 2015 19:54:13
Almost every single game to movie has failed. Doom, Red Faction and Tomb Raider are prime examples of this.

Personally, I think you need to have a game which already has an enormous story involved in it. Something like Warcraft, Half Life and Warhammer which are already being made are good examples. Warhammer especially, it's got a 40,000 year history which is full of epic battles and wars.

One game I believe needs a movie is Command and Conquer, this is only if it follows the Tiberium storyline though.

18 Nov 2015 07:23:55
So now, along with plans to do a Fast and Furious universe of films and spin offs, Universal are planning a classic monsters universe of films which interweave. Starting with The Mummy reboot, they plan to bring in Dracula and Van Helsing etc to storylines together.

The idea I like, if done well it could be brilliant and settle the old Horror Top Trumps arguments over who were the scariest monsters! It does feel like it is jumping on the 'universe' bandwagon though.

18 Nov 2015 22:23:23
I'm sure I heard universal were planning rebooting everything starting with the mummy

18 Nov 2015 07:15:16
I was just reading about Bladerunner 2, I am not sure if I am looking forward to this or not. The original is a classic, one of my favourite films of all time. I just don't see the need for a sequel to it.

17 Nov 2015 21:05:30
just watched the Gods of Egypt trailer my god no pun intended it looks good, well if your into fantasy type films that is haha it's about the gods of Egypt fighting and has Gerard butler in it, cheers ok.

18 Nov 2015 07:13:58
I was just reading about this, looks good to me too. I want to see this movie.

18 Nov 2015 13:56:44
Yeah Ed001 I can't wait,I know trailers can be deceiving but I love films like this,not surprising I used to watch stargate haha cheers pk

{Ed001's Note - I never got into Stargate, thought the film was rubbish and the show was worse.}

18 Nov 2015 14:13:20
Haha nooooooo don't say that Ed001,what programs you into Ed,I'm into anything Sci-fi or fantasy and murder,cop,killings and her indoors calls them lol cheers pk

{Ed001's Note - sci fi, fantasy, Sherlock Holmes, comedies. Not a fan of murder mystery or cop stuff to be honest, gangster stuff in the main bores me to tears.}

18 Nov 2015 14:44:22
Do you like the American Sherlock Ed001 pk

{Ed001's Note - that one with Lucy Liu? Elementary? Not really, it was watchable because of her but he was an awful Sherlock.}

18 Nov 2015 14:59:03
Haha I was thinking you might say that about Lucy liu,I don't mind it myself,l like the new British one but my favourite Sherlock is Jeremy Brett

{Ed001's Note - Jeremy Brett and Basil Rathbone were both great, though I think Cucumberpatch is the best of the lot.}

19 Nov 2015 15:22:14
Cucumberpatch just about beats every thing i have read on all of the pages 😂😁😂😁😂😁😂

23 Nov 2015 14:13:59
Lucy Lui mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

But this Gods of Egypt looks like it could be another one of those John Carter films or what ever it was called. Although I did like his pet dog thing, I really wanted one of them.

17 Nov 2015 07:50:32
X-Men spin off Gambit has been delayed again, which is a shame. I am actually interested in seeing this film, as I always found the Gambit character interesting in the comics.

17 Nov 2015 16:24:41
Yeah woefully underused in the films

18 Nov 2015 07:13:00
I agree, it is odd as, along with Wolverine, he is probably the most interesting character in the X-Men. Cyclops is yawn inducing, as are most of the rest, but Gambit has an entertaining personality.

18 Nov 2015 22:32:24
This may be heresy but I'm so bored of wolverine.

19 Nov 2015 15:23:25
I always liked Jean Grey. Wolverine is a nice character but hugh jackman urgghhh. Hardy would be an excellent fit for it.

{Ed001's Note - I really don't like Huge Jackoff either, awful actor.}

20 Nov 2015 12:56:14
It just became the hugh Jackman franchise when there is so many more characters. And a few more interesting. He even had to have a cameo in first class for no reason at all.

17 Nov 2015 07:48:01
DC are putting out a film version of 'The Flash' but not relating it to the ongoing TV show they have. That seems odd to me, why are they doing that? Is the show struggling?

23 Nov 2015 00:20:58
The shows doing really well, The CW's biggest show at the moment, DC are just seperating their tv universe i.e Arrow and the flash from their movie universe because they want to go in a different direction story wise and in terms of tone. If you're into scifi you should check out The flash really enjoyable show

17 Nov 2015 07:45:47
Why on earth has Snow White and the Huntsman got a sequel? It was terrible, one of those films I switched off out of boredom partway through.

17 Nov 2015 07:42:32
So Momento is getting a remake, despite being acclaimed as one of the best films of its time. It is only 10 years or so old, does it really need a remake already? Why can't people watch the original if it is so good? What happened to originality?

23 Nov 2015 14:16:28
I don't understand all this remake and reboot stuff.

Maybe they should bring the drugs back into Hollywood, as at least they had some creativity back then.

17 Nov 2015 07:39:47
I see they are continuing to make Fast and Furious films, with a trilogy more in the pipeline, after 7 is done, to be followed with a bunch of spin offs. I am not sure that there is really a need for any more of them, they have done enough surely?

17 Nov 2015 16:26:21
You'd think so but £££$$$€€€¥¥¥ rules. Should have ended it after walker died. They finished 5 as millionaires and got they're pardons after 6 so what else is there to do.

18 Nov 2015 07:11:40
they should have ended it after the first, or even better before it! Because of these films, every car scene in movies is utter crap and overloaded with music.

18 Nov 2015 22:47:28
Eventually though someone will realise that and decide in order to make their film different it has to stand out. The problem with Hollywood is if something works ($$$) even copies it.

17 Nov 2015 07:37:12
Anyone have idea what Stephen King's The Dark Tower is about? I see they are talking about casting Matthew McConaughey in one of the lead roles. I just wondered what kind of storyline it has and what it is about?

17 Nov 2015 16:29:13
Its fantasy. This guy the gunslinger is after this bad guy who killed his family and chases him across different worlds and dimensions including earth. The Randall flag character from the stand pops up and I think there's a few hints at pennywise from it as well. If done right it could be very good. But given hollywoods track record with king adaptations.

18 Nov 2015 07:10:40
the stand? What's that Mort?

18 Nov 2015 22:39:53
The stand starts with a soldier doing a bunk from a top secret us military research station after an accident. And he unleashes a super flu virus which wipes out 99% of the population. The survivors end up in a supernatural battle of good vs evil. It does sag a bit in the middle where he wrote himself into a corner. But the depictions of society collapsing and the survivors immediate aftermath are quite good. The tv version had Gary sinise. Good but best done over 2 nights. It was kings version of an American lord of the rings. With Las Vegas replacing mordor.

It. Well anyone from the 80s who's scared of clowns.

The dark tower is 7 volumes. Took him 30 years to write. Links a lot of the king novels. Again lord of the rings was a big inspiration and the good bad an the ugly.

20 Nov 2015 12:56:56
As I say if done properly it could be good. I just think a film would be a bit rushed.

12 Nov 2015 07:16:20
Has anyone got any details about the forthcoming Doctor Strange movie? He is a character I have heard of, but I have no idea what he actually does, in terms of powers etc.

13 Nov 2015 21:04:59
He's a doctor of something and he's strange.

{Ed003's Note - fantastic input.}

14 Nov 2015 00:24:46
Sorry was in a flippant mood till I turned the tv on to see how England had done and instead found out about Paris. I think the guy who plays Sherlock is involved? Beyond that I don't know much.

{Ed001's Note - I have only seen a mention it was in production in passing, so that is more than I know!}

14 Nov 2015 17:32:37
I can't wait for this film,watched the cartoon film with my kids that's my excuse haha,anyway if I can remember benedict cumberbatch is playing Dr Strange who is a famous surgeon who has a accident and can't use his hands and goes on a journey to find someone to fix his hands as you do ends up in Tibet anyway ends up being a sorcerer and fighting the dreaded evil lol cheers pk

{Ed001's Note - is he a good character then?}

14 Nov 2015 17:57:42
Yeah Ed001 I like him as a character a bit dark ,and even though i watched a cartoon,it's one off those you immediately say this would be a good film,so I'm hoping as the marvel films have got better that they stay dark cheers pk

{Ed001's Note - if it goes along the lines of the Daredevil series that would be good.}

14 Nov 2015 21:08:38
Rachel McAdams in it too and the guy from 12 years a slave not going to try and spell it.

{Ed001's Note - I am not a fan of hers, she is not very good at acting and doesn't look particularly good either. Mind, she might not have had roles that allowed her to act, that I have seen, as I tend to watch action and martial arts flicks in the main. Hopefully she will be good in this.}

15 Nov 2015 14:21:25
I've only seen a couple of her films she's competent but nothing great. As for her looks that's personal aesthetics.

The other guy though is a very good actor. You know the one I mean?

{Ed001's Note - Cumberbatch? My daughter loves him.}

15 Nov 2015 21:55:54
Well yes he's a good actor.

And so is the other dude from 12 years a slave

16 Nov 2015 04:47:59
I have not seen it, nor do I have the slightest intention of doing so, it really is not my thing, so I have no idea who is in it, to be honest. I will have to take your word on his acting abilities!

17 Nov 2015 16:29:52
He's been in a lot of stuff I will have to cut and paste his name

{Ed001's Note - hahaha difficult to spell?}

18 Nov 2015 22:42:04
Chiwetel Ejiofor just a bit

10 Nov 2015 15:04:31
I went to see Spectre today, just because I was passing the cinema on my way home and there was a showing just about to start, so I thought 'sod it' let's see what it is like. The first thing that came to mind, as it has with all the recent Bond movies, is how long it was. It went on and on and on, in large part with no real need, and no real thought put into large portions of the story. In places it felt dragged out, in others rushed, it was a bit weird.

The action scenes were just poor, in my opinion, with far too much focus on trying to give a feeling of being in the scene, rather than telling the story. It became difficult to follow at times, though it worked well in some instances, such as the close quarters fight on the train. Like so many others, Sam Mendes, the director, ruined the car chase, it was so poorly done, similarly to the Fast and Furious series of films, rather than the Bullitt, which still stands out as the best car chase ever, while F&F stand out as crappy popcorn movies. It was badly filmed, far too busy trying to be arty, with music over the top of the sound of the cars, in complete contrast to the way the fight scenes focused on trying to make you feel a part of it. The car chase stepped back and the music removed any chance of you feeling involved, which is particularly frustrating as the Aston Martin and Jaguar being used have gorgeous sounding engines.

It was that bit of the film that particularly stood out as a reason why it just did not work. The director ruined it, with the shots in that sequence particularly emphasising the feel of the film all the way through. The way so many scenes were just about looking good, rather than serving a purpose to tell the tale. Like it was a fashion shoot at times, rather than a tale being told. I am struggling to think how to describe what I mean, but it really was an odd way of filming what is in essence an action film. It was almost like he was making an effort to try and be artistic, rather than making it fun, with scenes that simply added nothing and felt drawn out, then it would suddenly rush through story telling scenes because so many minutes had been wasted on pointless bits.

Personally I just can't recommend this film, it was overly long, but just lost its way and the story was weak, extremely weak. The bad guy was just a bit weird, and offered no real fear factor, he was more sort of pathetic than bad really. It has all the ingredients to be a great film, but they just got mixed up in the wrong order for me. And please, to any director doing a car chase, stop watching those F&F type of movies beforehand, the car scenes in them are not what makes those films watchable, they are the weak links. Music over the top of the engine sounds does not increase the excitement, they just make you feel detached from the experience, which is fine in some circumstances, but not for a film like Spectre, where the director has worked hard to try and make the action involve the watcher, then all of a sudden you are completely detached and it is just silly. Not a bad film, but just do not pay to see it, it is not worth the money overall, though you do get your money's worth in time!

Less is more especially with music.

Other car chases I thought were decent were robin and the first Bourne film.

14 Nov 2015 00:23:23
Ronin stupid auto correct

17 Nov 2015 07:35:59
Ronin I have not seen. Will have to take a look, but I do agree on the first Bourne film one, it was decent.

18 Nov 2015 07:20:33
I have to say, one thing about Spectre is that Daniel Craig really does Bond well. He is too good for this film. Craig makes Bond into what I imagine Bond to be, rather than what Bond was in previous films. Now if only the script could match his charisma, as it is that which makes him stand out as Bond, rather than his acting.

23 Nov 2015 00:26:30
I think it was the opposite, in my opinion he was what brought the movie down, Christoph Waltz was immense but the story was poor I was bored by the end of it if i'm being honest

{Ed001's Note - Waltz was the baddie? He was truly awful! His acting made me cringe, it was proper over the top comedy baddie he was doing. Not as bad as the bad guy who was chasing him. The whole thing was almost taken back to the crap that Roger Moore was doing, trying to be funny rather than doing an action movie. Craig was playing Bond as he has done but everyone else was acting like they were in a spoof movie.}

Hi Eds and fellow readers.

Anyone know any good free streaming sites with no registration?!

Many thanks!

{Ed007's Note - I use Kodi for my films mate.}

09 Nov 2015 10:53:02
popcorn time

12 Nov 2015 07:14:47
popcorn time tends to have good quality streams and the app allows you to download and watch later, so you can watch them offline

07 Nov 2015 06:02:41
I was surprised to hear they are making a sequel to 'Olympus Has Fallen' to be entitled London Has Fallen. I never knew the original was a success, not sure it was worthy of a sequel.

08 Nov 2015 14:03:01
Entertaining film. A little different from the usual in terms of the setting, I was surprised it was allowed to be made. But yeah no need for a sequel.

10 Nov 2015 13:58:39
How the 1st one got the greenlight is a joke,even with the cast and good script,surely people would be wary given the effects used dated circa 1998

04 Nov 2015 09:04:46
Now I have just been reading about a sequel I am actually interested in - Bad Santa 2! I really enjoyed the original, I just hope the sequel lives up to it.

03 Nov 2015 11:22:56
I saw The Last Witch Hunter, with Vin Diesel on Friday, it was very much like Blade, with Vin Diesel as Wesley Snipes and witches replacing vampires. It was ok, but it lacked something to really make it anything more than ok.

06 Nov 2015 21:45:06
Sounds like most of his films.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the fast and furious films an the first two Riddick films. Perfect popcorn films

{Ed007's Note - I've never seen a Vin Diesel film I've enjoyed, the one was enough, XXX and I only put that on because I thought it was going to be porn. You know how every now and again someone comes along that you just want to punch in the face over and over again? Well Vin Diesel is one of those people.}

07 Nov 2015 06:01:16
Now I know you don't like him, I suddenly like him so much more.

{Ed007's Note - You've always been into those well groomed macho types so I'm not surprised by that.}

08 Nov 2015 14:05:50
End of the day he does what he sets out to do. If I'm paying ten quid plus same again if its a date plus the sane again for a drink and whatever else then I expect to be entertained. Not sit through dull pretentious rubbish like birdman or the artist.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on that, he is far from the worst actor out there.}

08 Nov 2015 14:24:29
I've sat through films with good actors that have been rubbish because of bad plots or directors. I've sat through films with poor plots saved because of the actors in them.
I've sat through films with great plots but ruined by the actors or directors.

End of the day its an art form and art is about being entertained whilst making a few quid on the side. Problem is too many pretentious wafflers looking down their noses at anything popular claiming its no good. Like some fool in the guardian the other week who dismissed terry pratchett as crap because its popular then admitted he'd never actually read any of his book, which surely invalidates his point, then spent the rest of the article moaning how people don't read some obscure foreign author because he's not popular. Bizarre. But its idiots like that that push arty rubbish like the artist or birdman or life of pi which are total snoozefests.

I'm not saying I don't like ab intellectual film that makes you think. But I don't walk into a cinema to see those. I want entertainment. If that means meatheads with muscles on muscles blowing stuff up and doing unrealistic stunts then so be it.

{Ed001's Note - I don't enjoy Terry Pratchett books myself, but I would personally want to read them before I wrote about how rubbish they are, just in case. I like to be entertained, sometimes it can be crappy Transformers movies, which I know are crap but make me feel like a kid again so I enjoy them. Birdman was dire, it was so utterly boring I had to switch it off, so glad I didn't pay to watch that dross.}

08 Nov 2015 14:25:19
Who goes to a vin diesel film expecting hamlet after all.

{Ed001's Note - I really hope he takes a role in Hamlet next!}

08 Nov 2015 14:43:30
I've read about half a dozen terry pratchett books. I liked them as they make a change to the usual crime novels, thrillers etc. Sometimes a change of genre freshens things up.

But I just thought the article was stupid. Criticising something as rubbish then admitting you've never tried it. Its like saying curry is the worst food in the world then owning to never having set foot inside an Indian restaurant.

Transformers are so bad there good. I remember watching the first one in cinema with my mate an the girls and everytime some classic line came out we were like kids. But that's what I pay money for.

Yeah i'd love to see vin diesels take on hamlet now. A modern twist maybe.

{Ed001's Note - I love fantasy stuff, but Pratchett just annoys me, I just don't find him funny. I agree though, ridiculous to slag something off without any experience of it.

Ed007 is salivating right now at the thought of Vin Diesel in tights.}

08 Nov 2015 14:58:55
Doesn't have to be in tights. He could do a modern version. John hamlet humble mechanic by day, street racer by night who's gangster father is murdered by his uncle so he sets out for revenge.

{Ed001's Note - you will be working in Hollywood with visionary writing like this mate.}

08 Nov 2015 17:03:57
Ha thanks. I think its got mileage.

08 Nov 2015 17:22:55
Could have a whole series. Meathead Shakespeare. Stallone as king Lear. The rock in Romeo and Juliet

09 Nov 2015 13:58:28
There's just one problem with casting an action version of hamlet.

Can you guess what is?

09 Nov 2015 21:34:26
No female action stars.

{Ed007's Note - Melissa McCarthy............

03 Nov 2015 11:21:02
Anyone seen Spectre yet? Is it any good? I was thinking of going to see it on Friday.

03 Nov 2015 18:54:19
No sorry not a bond fan my dad seen it but he's 64 and has no enthusiasm for films so his review was ,it was predictable and loud lol

04 Nov 2015 09:04:03
predictable and loud could sum up so many films these days!

06 Nov 2015 21:46:33
Chap at work saw it last night said it was good, not as good as skyfall but good. To be honest I thought skyfall was a bit over hyped.

02 Nov 2015 06:03:09
One for Ed007 now - Elstree 1976 trailer:

02 Nov 2015 06:01:52
Is anyone interested in watching World War Z 2? I was really disappointed in the first film, I wasn't impressed at all. Not sure I care about watching the second.

02 Nov 2015 09:30:02
I didn't mind the first movie,I know those who read the books were disappointed it missed key parts out. I think going into it as a non reader it did exactly what it said on the tin,it was a zombie movie. What's the plan with it,are they going to show it from another family mans perspective?

{Ed001's Note - all I know is that Brad Pitt has been signed up and that they have brought in a new writer, the guy who wrote Utopia for Ch 4, to fix the script. Bringing in new writers is usually a bad sign, they kept doing that on Ant Man and that was dross.}
