so disney are buying lucasfilms for £2.5 billion and have already decided to film star wars episodes 7, 8 and 9 based on a whole new story rather than the timothy zahn series of novels the thrawn triolgy which strats off 5 years after return of the jedi. bit of an odd decision to me that. would like to know what other star wars fans think?
huddz red {Ed001's Note - I was discussing this with 007 last night, we are both huge Star Wars fans and we can't decide whether it is a good thing or not.}

I think the best option would be to set Episodes 7, 8 and 9 as far as possible from the orginal trilogy. A good fresh start would probably be best thing for the saga - and not for George to write the screenplays!

I love Star Wars and the fact there making new films sounds good but Disney making them worries me
LP

George will not be writing the screenplays, disney will have their own men to do it, after all episode 1 and two were dire and 3 was a bit better. i thought the thrawn trilogy was pretty goodand i think they would make (if done right) decent editions to the episodes. to have a whole new start then they might as well not call it episode seven and make it a whole new saga, makes more sense to me anyway.
huddz red {Ed001's Note - they are not just making 7, 8 and 9, they intend to make more.}

Firstly i'd like to say i do like Star Wars, i enjoy watching them and find them entertaining.

BUT!

I am about to commit heresy. They are not actually that good.

As i said i fidn them entertaining. I like the story, plot and the the entire concept. The Force and Lightsabres are brilliant.

However the dialogue is awful and so is a lot of the acting. Not to mention the gaping plotholes. Never mind Disney doing 3 new films they should remake the first 6. I think the prequels get an unfair battering. They do have their problems, but no more than the original trilogy which has many of the same issues. Its just because many of us grew up with the original trilogy that they tend to be viewed throguh rose tinted glasses and some think they are imune from criticism as they are such a cultural icon.

Huddz/ Ed1 i heard Lucas had written the basic theme and they were just after a script writer and a director.

I agree Eps 1 & 2 had their issues, interested to hear what you didn't like? {Ed001's Note - that Binks thing, the annoying brat that Anakin was and not much better teenager. Any scene involving the child, who was just an awful actor. I am sure there are more things, but those are just off the top of my head.}

I know they intend on making more ed but tey have to start somewhere i was just my preference that all and eps 1 and 2 are truely awful. so what would you like them to do with the series ed?
huddz red {Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I remember so many comic books, as a primary school kid, that had some great stories expanding the universe. I really don't mind where they start, so long as they don't make the same mistakes they did with episodes 1, 2 and 3. The Thrawn story was ok, but the most important thing is finding the right man to direct, he will set the tone of it and that has to be right. You only have to look at things like Avengers, the right feel is essential, more important than which story they choose. If you don't tell the story well, even the best story will be awful.}

I thought revenge of the sith was very good. But 1 and 2 were just like very poor kids films. Im glad theres gonna be more films but would of prefered if it wasnt disney. I think they would do a good job if it was just 3 new ones and maybe remake the original 3 but i have a feeling after paying so much there gonna keep making them till its boring and annoying. For the 3 new ones i wouldnt mind seeing it go further back with yoda starting the jedi.
Gaz

Get what you mean Gaz, young Yoda would be entertaining but he didn't start the Jedi. Personally i would rather see more stuff in the Old Republic, thats where most of the best expanded universe stuff is rather than the post Empire stuff.

Ed Binks was annoying but at least they recognised that and cut it down to what 2-3 scenes in the 2nd and nothing in the 3rd.

And yes the kid Anakin was annoying but blame Lucas, surely he was at casting. And he wrote the part. He should have had Anakin as older, maybe pre-teen or early teen so he's already got a surly nasty edge, which would have made the councils reluctance more understandable. After all the age they went with wasn't much older than the younglings seen in the next 2 films.

The Anakin of parts 2-3 again wasn't good casting but again I think the part was written wrong. The romance between Anakin and Padme just seemed so forced and creepy, especially given the age gap. In fact watching them in part 1 knowing that the annoying kid was going to boff Natalie Portman wigged me out. Again they should have been closer in age it would have made much more sense from a Romance point of view.

There was plenty of potential there in the story of Anakins fall but it seemed so poorly handled and rushed over the 3rd film.

For me it should have in part 1 they discovered 13 year old Anakin, talented skilled but cocky and arrogant. Part 2 10 years later Anakin's done his trainging about to become a Knight, he romances Padme, but his mum dies and he starts going off the rails with him being turned at the end of the film. Then part 3 could have picked up straight from there with his fall "official" and they could have fitted a lot more in regards what went on rather then the rushed last hour we had. {Ed001's Note - I agree with most of that, the romance was extremely creepy, reminded me of those dirty slapper 'Twilight' moms. You know, the old hags chasing underage boys that were in teen flicks.}

Never watched twilight sounds like a lucky escape. Lucas is a good ideas man but poor in the execution. The prequels could and should have been so much better. With just 1 tweak in Anakin's age we've already improved it lol.

Is the story not already in place? Lucas wrote 9 episodes originally so id imagine the last 3 should be his, continuing on from rotj. Would be interesting to see though considering what happened at the end of the originals.

Lucas supposedly wrote 9 episodes but after watching the prequels it makes you think exactly when he wrote them. As said above he's supposedly written the story it just needs Disney to find a script writer and director. George can't write scripts to save his life as Ford once said "You can write this **** George but you can't as hell say it"

Also i hope they discard most of the novels as well. They vary in quality from some which are excellent to some which are total cack and nothing more than cheap cash ins. And i hate the Jedi twins, awful awful awful.

How can they be as far away from the originals as possible? It must have jedi in it, and theres only a handful left after return of the jedi!?!
Liono74

In regard to Episode 1 to 3 tinkering, if you look at the pre-production art for Phantom Menace, you will see that Anakin must have been orginally going to be a teenager. Pity they changed it as it would have made more sense having a older Anakin, rather than the bin-lid!
Weyland-Yutani

Yoda spin off - origin story and his battles vs the real Sith. How could they fail lol. CheltBlue

Weyland-Yutani i haven't seen that, it then makes the decison all the more stupid. An older Anakin just works so much more better. Why change it?

Marketing, no doubt, my dear boy. Marketing.
Weyland Yutani

Skyfall has to be one of the best Bond films in a long time.
sparky

A lot better than the last two films, definitely room to remake some of the classics now
LP

Better than the last 2? OK Quantum was crap but Casino Royale when it came out was being hailed as the best Bond ever.

Will they remake anything of Series 1? I'd think it would be tricky as most of them are rather out of date plotwise now.

I think skyfall is superb but hope they move forward and not back,the old ones are classics and should be left alone in my opinion

mark d

Skyfall was really excellent, but not the "Best Bond Ever!" as the newpapers would led your to believe. If they were going to remake any "Classic" Bond movie, it should be "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Craigs' Bond would be a good fit with the story which could be updated to include Quantum.

Gold finger for me is the best ever
LP

For me its From Russia With Love then Live And Let Die then You Only Live Twice then The Living Daylights then Casino Royale then The Man With The Golden Gun.

Hey guys
Iron man 3 trailer now up on YouTube, check it out
LP

Looks good, lets hope ben kingsley's mandarin sticks petty close to the comics and his rings have power and are not there for show.
huddz red

Huddz, I hope to also and with the avengers movie bringing Thor and aliens into the iron man world I can see him using them in the way he does in the comics.

Nox3

No head of marvel kevin feige has said no laser beams or ice rays coming from them(the rings mandarin waers), nothing cosmic about them even tho they are from an advanced alien race. the plot is also taken from the extremis sgtoryline from the comics which i thought was pretty good.

Anyone knows Hrithik Roshan? {Ed001's Note - Bollywood guy?}

24 Oct 2012 16:07:19
ed favourite actor {Ed001's Note - tough one that, but I would probably say Jet Li, what about yours?}

Not the op but i'd agree with Jet LI makes a very chilling villain in some films.

I'd also mention Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Daniel Craig, Will Smith & Jamie Foxx as actors i regularly watch.

Actresses is harder.

Ben kingsley, gary oldman or micheal caine for me. All older actors but all versatile and very good.
huddz red

Denzel Washington, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Spacey

Good shouts for Oldman and Denzel. {Ed001's Note - it's really difficult to choose one, there are a few great actors around at the moment, Brian Cox is another who is always good, even though he tends to play bad guys.}

Yes Brian Cox always brings something to a role, makes a good bad guy, very good in Bourne.

Lots of great actors around not so much actresses.

How about Stephen Graham for favorite actor steals the show every week he's in Boardwalk Empire

AAR {Ed001's Note - I do like him as an actor, and a fellow Liverpool fan (along with Daniel Craig and Clive Owen), I am trying to think of a single time I haven't thought he was excellent. It is a shame he is not a good looking chap, or he would be a huge Hollywood star, because he is a fantastic actor.}

Is that stephen graham the one who always seems to play somesort of psycho nut in films like con air and armageddon, if it is then deffo good actor. would love to see him as a bond villain. also isnt brian cox that scientist fella that does wonders of the solar system and used to be in that band in the 90s
huddz red {Ed001's Note - Stephen Graham is the scouse lad that is on Soccer AM a fair bit, he was in This Is England (which is a fantastic film it must be said) as a psycho nut sort of. Snatch is the first thing I remember him from, as Jason Statham's sidekick, whose name escapes me right now! I certainly don't remember him in Con Air and I have yet to suffer through all of Armageddon. As for Brian Cox, no that is a different guy, both British though, Brian Cox was the one who said in an interview that he always has to play bad guys in American films because Americans are scared of intelligence.}

Just googled who i was on about who is alson boardwlk empire i think, its steve buscemi is who i was on about. sorry about that
huddz red {Ed001's Note - close enough I guess.....}

Tommy from Snatch Ed.

Brian Cox is ace, great comment lol.

Tom Hardy as well for British actors and Jim Broadbent

No-one's put Rowan Atkinson, shocking!!

Favourite current actors: Gosling, Hardy, Harrelson, Damon, Pitt, Di Caprio.
Favourite past: Newman
Favourite alive actors that were amazing but now are innactive or make crap: Nicholson, De Niro, Pacino {Ed001's Note - I completely forgot about Woody Harrelson! I like him as an actor.}

22 Oct 2012 20:32:28

part 3 of forward unto dawn (halo) was amazing!

really wish they'd make it longer than 20min.

20 Oct 2012 00:51:02
out of all the american pie sequels and spin offs whats everyone's favourite? I think 2 edges wedding and beats reunion. Of the spin offs band camp is the best by far.

Agreed AP2 is the best out of the cinema releases not counting the 1st one. The Wedding is a bit hit and miss.

Of the direct to dvd films, most of them are rubbish and band camp is the only one i can sit through. The most like the original in spirit. The others were just sort of jumping from one gag to the next with plot and story largely forgotten.

Wedding is easily the best.

KiwiRed

I really liked number 2 and reunion best, didn't think much of wedding

Kiwi a lot of wedding is good in parts, especially jim/ stifler and finch/ stifler. Jim's dad is always good and it nicely closed off the original trilogy. At times though stifler was very annoying and not like the stifler of the first 2 films. And it was a waste of time having Kevin around.

I can see why they did reunion but not sure it was really necessary.

19 Oct 2012 14:43:58
now that warner bros have won the rights to superman outright, theyare planning to start shooting a justice league movie next with a 2015 date to go head to head wth avengers 2
huddz red

Avengers all the way really

Would be a tough one to cast especially being so used to Bale as Batman .......DH

Not really, batman doesn't have to show his face so could be anyone with a gruff voice, superman- obviously Henry cavill, Martian manhunter, again anyone as prosthetics will be applied, wonder woman can't really think of any decent leading ladies out there then that leaves flash who I'd like Nathan fillon for but I don't think he'd do it, would anyone else like to hazard a guess at potential cast?
Huddz red

Personally i think Batman is the only interesting character there, the rest are all a bit meh.

17 Oct 2012 21:39:46
just watched the prestige if anyone hasn't seen it I would strongly recommend it
sparky

I have it's a great film ! Loads of twists.
golla

Yes very good film, something a bit different and always good to see Tesla get credit for stuff.

Best film I've ever seen

not exactly a movie but has anyone been watching the forward unto dawn halo episodes? ive watched the first two and they're pretty good. {Ed001's Note - what is it?}

It's a live action web series based of halo(the game).
20min long videos.
it's about a group of marines who are training to become soldiers.

www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/10/5/3457278/halo-4-forward-unto-dawn-bold-experiment-web-video

They are 15 min promo episode that show the events leading up to halo 4, they are live action as well and i have to agree they arent half bad.

I see they have pushed back the release date for the Robocop reboot to 2014, February 7th to be precise.

They need to make it worthwhile, special effects etc, with that kind of delay.
Ed001

It bloody better be since it was due next august.
huddz red
p.s it'll still not be better than the original one. ;)

Huddz thats a good date Feb 7th, 1 week before pointless romance day, so you can go see that first then a week later treat the mrs.

Or combine both "o yeah babe, off to the cinema for a date, new film just out last week, robocop...."

16 Oct 2012 23:00:05
just watched ip man ed. Very good. And how hot is mrs ip? {Ed001's Note - I would ;o)}

I would as well. Opportunity for anpther cheap Donnie film, 14 blades has arisen. {Ed001's Note - I love that film.}

Just as well i'm getting it then. {Ed001's Note - I think you will enjoy it. Seven Swords is another good martial arts film that just came to mind. Not sure who is in it, I haven't seen it in a long time, but I do remember enjoying it.}

Ok i'll have a look then. When i get 5 minutes i'll list all what i've watched. I'm sure someone a while back was asking what good martial arts types films were around.

16 Oct 2012 22:01:12
Need For Speed movie - anyone excited about this idea at all?

They did thjis, its called fast and furious

Just watched a trailer of the new evil dead film it don't look to bad.

Didn't even know there was a new one. Will have a look cheers.

It was on a site called bloody disgusting but after an hour or so it was taken off but like I said the film looked quite scary and gory.

14 Oct 2012 17:06:58
Great news that Agent Coulson is back, played by Clark Gregg once again. Bad news is that it is not in a new movie, but in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series that Joss Whedon is making.
Still, it should be good, Coulson was defo one the stars of the recent rash of Marvel films.
Ed001

Hmm not sure a TV series would work, but if anyone could pull it off it would be Joss Whedon.

Yes i read the same, hopefully it will be set before the avengers so it isnt only flashbacks of him, and being a tv show is bad thhat is great especially if they keep his dry humor and hopefully a cameo or two from the current avengers and maybe a few new ones. hulk is also possibly being made into a tv show
huddz red {Ed001's Note - I just read it as being confirmed it is set afterwards and that he survived. At least that was how it read in the article I got it from.}

Could you please post a link for me, would be greatly appreciated mate. thanks again
huddz red {Ed001's Note - now I have read it again, it doesn't actually say anything about whether he is alive or not: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/news/a430513/nycc-agent-coulson-returns-in-joss-whedons-shield.html?rss
I read it too quickly on first viewing!}

Thanks for that reading it now

14 Oct 2012 17:04:14
Disney have released a synopsis for Thor: The Dark World now, so it should mean it will be released soon, hopefully. Good news is Kat Dennings is in it again, which cheers me up anyway.
Ed001

Ed was she Natalie Portman's sister? Thought that was good casting there, they have a resemblance that was believeable they could be related. {Ed001's Note - I thought she was just her assistant, she is fit as though.}

I take it u watch 2 broke girls ten ed? lol. hopefully it will be good as the first, which phase 2 marvel film are you looking forward to most ed? for me it hhas to be cap america 2: winter soldier as that story is great in the comics
huddz red {Ed001's Note - why's that mate? Is she in it? If so, I will have to make the effort to give it a try! I am looking forward to Iron Man 3 myself, I am not a fan of Thor or Captain America at all.}

Yeah she is a main character in the e4 series that has just finised.
huddz red {Ed001's Note - dammit! I will have to try and find it then.}

Yeah think its her assistant Ed, just my imagination at work.

Cap'n Yank i think was a bit too gung ho Yay Go USA for me, but then thats what wartime propaganda is like and thats what he was designed for. It will be interesting to see how the character fits into the 21st century.

I liked Thor, wasn't my favourite comic but very good film. {Ed001's Note - I liked Kat Denning, but the film itself I found a bit average. I just didn't take to the characters, I couldn't stand most of his friends from Asgard to be honest. The fat one that was in a version of Punisher and was in the TV series Rome, I find a particularly poor actor. I mean he played the fat one in Thor, not he is fat himself!}

To be honest Ed, i like Branagh as a director, i thought that was a bold choice. I like Natalie Portman, and its always good to see Idriss Elba pop up in stuff.

Yeah his mates from Asgard were a bunch of suck ups, but they were only there for background filler.

I think its got potential and it makes a change from the usual mutations-caused-by-radioactivity/ radiation that they come up with like Spider-Man, Hulk and the Fantastic 4, gets kinds boring having a freak accident at the start cause a mutation. {Ed001's Note - I do agree, there is a lot of scope for Thor, and it can be taken further, I also like Branagh. It was just the original scene-setter of a film, well it was just a scene-setter, a build up. Not enough of a stand alone film for me.}

True, i think that Marvel were more bothered about the Avengers film and the megabucks it would make so they had to get Thor and Captain America out so the pieces were in place. I think America suffered from this more than Thor did i think Thor sits a bit better. Iron Man had the luxury of 2 films first so it was a more rounded out part of the universe. I think perhaps they should have held off on the Avengers another year first. {Ed001's Note - I can see your point, but I think they needed to Avengers out to build up the audience for Thor and Captain. Neither were particularly huge releases, but the sequels will now be anticipated by all those that saw Avengers that weren't previously fans. They have also gained a huge market of people going back and getting the first films to see more about them. Marvel might just have got it right this time.}

Yeah thats a fair point, I just feel that if they'd put more effort in on those films first then they'd be better, more stand a lone like the Iron Man films, instead its like their just warm up acts. Perhaps delayed Avengers to Christmas? massive marketing campaign for months. maybe from the money making point of view they got it spot on as you say, artistically though i think they were a little off. {Ed001's Note - I do agree with you, I should have mentioned I meant from a marketing point of view that Marvel got it right. Let's just hope they keep the momentum going with great follow up films.}

Yeah i'm sure they will. I think the mistake will be if they start banging films out for every last character, it'll reach saturation point, should just leave it to the core characters that they've got going. {Ed001's Note - they will make as many films as they think will make money. I have a feeling Natasha Romanov will have her own film soon, as all the teenage boys will go to see that.}

Law of diminshing returns though Ed, people will get bored. It seems every other film is a superhero comic book adaptation. Agreed they'll knock out a Black Widow film, but it will be just to make money. There's no other reason for minor characters to have their own films. {Ed001's Note - they will get bored, but enough hype in the build up will mean it will still make money and that is all that matters.}

Thor was a great movie. I enjoyed it way more than the Hulk movie - that was average.

KiwiRed

11 Oct 2012 18:44:03
Ed1 you like your martial artsy films, whats your opinions on Ip Man and Goemon? If you have seen them? {Ed001's Note - Ip Man is brilliant, one of the best martial arts films of all time, in my opinion. Donnie Yen has grown as a martial arts actor in recent times and this is probably his best film. I haven't seen Goemon yet, I will add to my list of films to watch though and let you know when I do. Just one more thing, Ip Man 2 is also a good film, but not even in the same class as the first one.}

Ok cheers Ed, i've got the opportunity to acquire said films at a cheap price. {Ed001's Note - I take it you don't mean on offer online or something? Only, if Goemon is on offer somewhere, I would really appreciate the heads up!}

Heads up on a charity shop ed. {Ed001's Note - ah right, ok, good find then.}

Think Goemon though is £4 on amazon though.

Can get some good bargains if you hunt around, seems some people buy stuf, wathc it once then discard. Obviously check the discs out first but i think Goemon is online for less than a fiver, still not a bad price. {Ed001's Note - cheers I will have a look, I have some money on topcashback I can turn into an Amazon voucher.}

Its 4.77 on amazon ed, non blu ray, the only blu ray is us import. {Ed001's Note - oh cheers, I will get that, shame it's not blu ray though, I do love my blu rays. I always spend my vouchers on blu rays!}

Yeah i'm building a small colelction of blu rays.

These 2 from the charity shop still have the super market stickers on them, not sure they've been watched. {Ed001's Note - even better, nice one.}

Well Ip Man works fine just tried it on the pc, 1 of the trailers stood out: An Empress and the Warriors, also has Donnie in it, looks good might have to rent that. {Ed001's Note - Flashpoint is another excellent Yen film, Sammo Hung as the bad guy is excellent too, I always did like him.}

Yeah Sammo is quality, didn't choreograph Ip Man as well?

I must admit i do like a lot of Chinese/ Japanese films, less BS than Hollywood. {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, he was certainly involved with it, so it is possible. I like a lot of Korean films too, Arahan springs to mind as an excellent film.}

Korean cinema doesn't seem to get so much publicity. Worth a look though. Seen a couple of good trailers. {Ed001's Note - I have a few, I will have to dig them out and remind myself of the good ones for you. I tell you what film did surprise me, though I can't say whether it is a good or bad film as I had to switch it off quick, was Shinjuku Incident, with Jackie Chan. My daughter was having a couple of friends over for a sleepover and were hogging the living room and the TV, so I was in the room next to it and decided to watch something on the PS3 and though a Jackie Chan film will be safe if the kids come in. Except this one wasn't! Never knew he had even done a sex scene in a film, but typical one started just as they came in the room! I had to switch it off quick and have never got round to watching it again since.}

Haha thats always the luck!

No i didn't know he'd done anything like that either. The last film i watched with jackie Chan in was Cannonball Run, and its just hard to imagine him getting it on. {Ed001's Note - I was so disappointed by the way they misused him in those, he was the only reason I wanted to watch them. I ended up more excited about them using the same kit car as me dad had at the time in the second one, the bright yellow thing that the birds end up half inching, with a roof that lifts up to get in. It was also the Condorman car, hence why I have seen that film so many times even though it is sh not very good.}

I do like them, i like my comedies like that, and you couldn't make a film like the Cannonball Run today.

I agree i was a little disappointed in Jackie's appearance, its very stereotypical portrayal of asian martial artists but its a film thats very much a product of its time, like the abuse Sammy Davis Jr gets (Chocolate Monk!) Thankfully a bygone era. {Ed001's Note - I don't know, sometimes we go too far against it. I mean calling someone chocolate is hardly an insult, most people love chocolate. It was more a term of endearment, rather than an insult based on the colour of his skin. I do agree though, you won't see films like that again. It just wouldn't work these days.}

I think it was more a reference to what Sammy Davis had to put up with back in the 50's/ 60's and the change in attitudes by the early 80's. Today you wouldn't even be able to get a line like that in anything no matter the context.

I don't think there are the stars these days to make such a film, there are too many ego's these days to make an ensemble comedy piece like cannonball or the earlier 60's one's.

08 Oct 2012 16:38:09
I watched sinister the other night not a bad film no gore but made you jump don't know if it will have the same effect on tv as the cinema but not a bad film.

Watched cabin in the woods the other night, a truly awful film

Cabin in te woods had the potential to be a monstermovie a proper one, but sdaly no, it is crap
huddz red

Yeah sinister makes you jump.... Especially the lawn mower scene..... I liked the ending too!

08 Oct 2012 15:11:07
Liam Neeson is king!

Is taken 2 any good then is it better than the first film.

I havnt actually had a chance to see it yet, but i have to admit ever since the first TAKEN film he has fast become one of my favourite actors, i know theres alot of opnions of THE GREY but IMO it was one of my fav films this year

He's always been a good and reliable actor, can't think of a bad film he's done.

I completely agree, the only film i slightly questioned was THE A-TEAM, mainly because i didnt want it to be re-done but i think even a film like that which lets be honest wasnt a great film, he still performed, one of films truly diverse and credible actors.

The grey was dreadful I wanted to slit my wrists after watching it truly depressing film

Waghead {Ed001's Note - the A-Team was pretty dire too.}

The Grey was an okay film, i know the wolves were overlarge, but in my opinion it was one of the more tolerable films of this year, and i agree The A-Team was dire.

A team was always going to to unfavourably compared to its tv predecessor as we all grew up with it on early saturday eevning tv after final score. But the tv show itself was awful so what were peoples expectations of the film?

For myself i enjoyed the film for what it was, an entertaining chill out.

I didnt have any expectations for the film really, its just a good film to zmobie out too as there is no brain power whatsoever needed to watch

Agreed in its my zombie out list, entertainign and don't need to think. Sometimes films can be too convoluted for no good reason. {Ed001's Note - I agree, and I wasn't expecting anything from it, I just thought the problem was that I got what I expected - nothing. It wasn't even good entertainment, like Avengers or Expendables, it was one of those films you watch once and never bother with again for me.}

Fair enough Ed, its got enough in for at least a 3rd viewing for me. {Ed001's Note - so long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters. Shows how subjective and personal film tastes are though.}

I'm more into sci-fi, war films, thrillers/ crime and martial artsy stuff, but cheesy action films have a time and a place usually for a chill out weekend.

What i don't like is crap rom coms and most comedy films of the last decade. {Ed001's Note - comedy films worth watching are rare these days, the only ones I can think of are Horrible Bosses, Tucker and Dale Vs Evil and the Inbetweeners movie (though that was weak compared to the TV shows) as funny films of the last decade. I am sure there must be more, but I literally can't think of any.}

Yeah i never got the inbetweeners things, the people that watch it are work are all in that early 20's generation which is more the target audience. If i gave it a go i'd probably like it its just having the time. I didn't like American Pie when it first came out, i was like its alright meh. Years later its more grew on me. But if i'm honest i'd rather stick on a bit of standup or something like Phoenix Nights, Police Academy that sort of thing. {Ed001's Note - Inbetweeners is one of those shows that I didn't like the look of so gave it a miss first time round. Then I was bored, there was nothing on, so I watched the first episode on 4OD and ended up watching the whole first series from beginning to end. It really is a truly funny show.}

If anyone wants to see what the new robocop looks like then gO to comicbookmovie.com there are some pics on there. Also set pics of the new iron man suit and iron patriot suit from iron man 3
Huddz red

The new suit looks like batman f*ck*d a power ranger. Not good!

Apparently robocop will have about 4 different suits as they continually modify it throughout the film, really hope this film is good. Is its sounding and looking really bad so far.

Check out the robocop rap on youtube.

Anymore news on the Top Gin sequel?

Sorry meant Top Gun Sequel!

Dont think its gonna happen mate the director who was hired to do it killed himself after finding out he had a brain tumour. sad really
huddz red

His brother Ridley should direct it instead in memory of him. Can see it now maverick is top dog at the top gun academy and ice man comes along tail between his legs fat as a house begging for a chance to teach the new breed some tricks.

o and forgot to ask is there anymore marvel films in the pipeline like another hulk? Or will they reboot the fantastic four? Not that there was much wrong with fantastic four. {Ed001's Note - Hulk is in the pipeline, as well as a reboot of Spiderman, that's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I will try and get some time to have a root round and see if anything else is planned.}

Ed is that another reeboot of Spiderman or a follow up to the one they've just done? {Ed001's Note - reboot.}

So they did that one that was out at the cinema in the summer and they've canned that already and rebooting again? {Ed001's Note - they do them in trilogies now.}

Upcoming Marvel Films : Iron Man 3 May 2013 The main bad guy is The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) : Thor 2 Nov 2013 The main bad guys are The Dark Elves : Captain America 2 The Winter Soldier April2014 main bad guy is his best mate Bucky who he thought died in original film : Antman 2014/15 , go to Marvel site it tells you loads more.........DH

Dont forget guardians of the galaxy, possibly ant mant and dr strange, the wolverine out next year and from what i hear also possibly black panther with sheild and hulk being tv shows
huddz red {Ed002's Note - Howard The Duck II}

Ha i remember howard the duck the film. it was so bad it was good, if only they were ed, if only.
huddz red
p.s avengers 2 is pencilled in for 2015

I'm laughing at ed1 and his "they do them in trilogies now" Lots to look out for then.

Personally i don't think there's much mileage in Captain America, i thought the film was ok, pretty good when soemthing was going on but took a while to get going, and honestly, i think he's the dullest out of all the marvel heroes. {Ed001's Note - it's true though, they actually made a point of it, I read the studio talking about it. I find it strange that they feel it is worth going back to the beginning in each set of films after just 3. There must be more mileage in it, just change the actors and carry it on!}

Yeah it is a concern, i hope they don't do it with batman now Nolan & Bale have left. We've had the origin, just carry on.

Spiderman's fairly boring as well to be honest. {Ed001's Note - it gets more boring when you have to watch the origin over and over. We all know he was bitten by a radioactive spider, let's move on and watch more of him tackling supervillains!}

True there are so mnay villains as well to pick from, thats why Nolan's Batman was so interesting, that he didn't do so much of the usual ones.

Joker, two face, bane, scarecrow, raas and talia al ghul are some of the most prominent batman villains. I hope if they make a justice league film they don't have another batman reboot first although I would quite like a flash movie first and maybe a Martian manhunter cameo in man of steel but that's highly unlikely
Huddz red

True but only Joker, Two Face and Bane featured in the last set of films and Bane was a waste. Scarecrow and the Al Ghul's were only really known to fans of the comics not the wider public.

does anyone know what the next marvel film will be? Is it thor two or iron man three then avengers two after those two? I'm guessing there wont be another captain america film as its a bit pointless. Is there a suggested running order to watch them in? I've just seen the avengers boxset on amazon which looks pretty good and was wondering if there's a set running order. Starting with with captain america obviously and ending with avengers obviously but is there anything in the others which links them in universe into a timeframe not counting sequels obviously. Thanks!

I think the running order is:

Captain America,
Iron Man 1
Hulk (with the Tony Stark cameo at the end)
Iron Man 2
Thor (I think Thor takes place more or less at the same time as IM2 as if you remember Agent Coulson gets called away to take care of something out in the desert, that didn't make any sense until watching Thor so i think the 2 overlap)
Avengers Assemble.
