The missus just took me to see The Mummy, not my choice but there was nothing else to suggest on, so it was that or some Tagalog romcom that I would not have understood a word of.

I have to say I think I would have preferred the other! The Mummy is just a really bad Hammer horror movie, too many gags to take seriously and Tom Cruise was awful. I don't normally mind Cruise, but he just didn't seem like he was into this film at all.

There was nothing really wrong with it, the film had good effects, good actors, an intriguing world to set up but it just somehow does not work. The only thing it did was make me want to watch some of the old Hammer films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

I am hoping that it was just because it was an origin movie, and they never seem to work until you see the others. So I will wait and see what the next in the world is like before I make any real judgement on it.

Really disappointed to see so much negative reviews on this one because I like the Mummy character and Cruise.

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate, I wish I had enjoyed it. The missus did, but she has little taste or she wouldn't be with me!}

Not suprised it flopped, apparently Tom cruise took full control of the production undermining the newbie director. Completly changed the writing making the film feel disjointed. Not a good start for the dark universe franchise.

{Ed001's Note - that explains a lot. It was very Cruise-orientated but that was not what it needed. Russell Crowe was completely pointless in it to be honest, which is a shame as, at his best, Crowe is an excellent actor.}
