Anyone seen Manchester by the Sea? Just watched it there and I am emotionally drained after it. Casey Affleck put in some performance, the range of emotions he displayed was phenomenal. I'm not usually one for Oscar bait but christ this movie was just outstanding, it's all I can say. If you haven't seen it watch it as soon as you can, you might shed a few tears though haha ( I cried a lot I must say)

I watched a really good movie last night, Hunt for the Wilderpeople is what it was called. Directed by an up and coming NZ director Taika Waititi (he directed What we do in the Shadows and Eagle vs Shark; both also really good) but I'd recommend it to anyone interested in a feel-good/ adventure movie. Its even got Sam Neill back with his adventure hat on. So if that doesn't draw you in on nostalgia feels alone I don't know what will! But seriously though, a thoroughly enjoyable film with a lot of straight humor and a lot of heart.

{Ed001's Note - I looked at that the other day but never gave it a try. I will have to take a look now I know it is worth it.}

I seem to be the only person in the world who thought Civil War was a bad movie? Now don't get me wrong there's worse movies out there but I just did not get the movie, everyone in the theatre was cheering ever minute and me and my girlfriend were sitting there expressionless. I love marvel movies I've seen the majority in the cinema and The Winter Soldier is one of my favorite movies but I just thought Civil War was boring it was filled with unnecessary dialogue and basically there was no repurcussions. Personally I thought BvS was superb and Xmen apocalypse was great, and that's coming from someone whocant stand Bryan Singer. Just wondering am I the only person with this view.

{Ed001's Note - if we were all the same it would be boring. One friend of mine hated Civil War because she couldn't stand the idea of the superheros fighting each other. She liked Apocalypse as well.}

I know every one is creaming over Leto as the Joker,but I don't like the design/makeup,of him,and I'm personally not sold on Leto as an actor.Don't even get me started on Jai Courtney.

Margot and Smith will put in their usual measured performances I'm interested to see the rest. Delevigne Common beach etc,I don't really know much about them. It looks action packed and fun though I just hope some of the actors can deliver(in a film that probably isn't so much about acting haha)

I think what WB are doing with these DC movies to differentiate them from marvel is that they want great directors who have a history of being visually emphatic while getting the most out of their actors, I can see Leto winning awards for this performance and I don't think he'll be the only actor in the DCEU to be acclaimed for their performance

They're certainly taking it down a darker route with their directors and screenplay.
For me though I think Leto has become one of those actors who because people have said he's good in the past,it's kinda just stuck,I think every performance he's given has been forgettable,requiem for a dram,Thin Red Line,Dallas buyers club. I'm just not a fan of his.
I think he falls into the category of Hanks,Leo,washington etc that regardless of their acting people say it was a brilliant performance cus they've reached that point of having a reputation.

I hope to god I'm wrong. I still can't see why Jai Courtney was cast I can fart right now and my gas would have more charisma and presence

I must admit that this looks like it might just work. But the critics will probably slaughter it. I remember watching League of Extraordinary and thinking it was excellent only for every critic to say it was rubbish, likewise Van Helsing.

Critics only like crap like the artist and life of pi. Dull artistic pretentious rubbish.

I don't know about you ed but watching it hurt my eyes. Painful movie watching experience

Ccottz

{Ed001's Note - one of the worst films ever. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It has really tested my ability to decribe something so bad without swearing!}

I myself really enjoyed it an 8/10 the critics were way too hard on it, it was not a bad movie,the plot was weak but the characterisation was spit on. i'm a big comicfan so seeing these characters on screen was a dream come true. How did you feel about the Joker?

Ccottz

{Ed001's Note - it was a bad movie. It was overly focused on drama at the expense of excitement and action. I was so bored I found myself checking my phone, and I am not one of those people who live on their phone, I would regularly don't even take it when I go out. None of the actors were well cast, other than Harley Quinn. In fact she was pretty much the saving grace for it, along with Joker, who just needed more of a role.

I was very impressed with Jared Leto, I think he did a good job of the Joker. He was the only other one of the 'baddies' that seemed a good fit for the role.

It was a massive disappointment, DC Comics seem unsure what way they should take their films. The Dark Knight trilogy was superb, so they are trying to keep that darkness but add the jokiness and fun that has worked so well for Marvel. The mix does not work well. They should have stuck to the darkness of Dark Knight.}

I think it was the opposite, in my opinion he was what brought the movie down, Christoph Waltz was immense but the story was poor I was bored by the end of it if i'm being honest

Ccottz

{Ed001's Note - Waltz was the baddie? He was truly awful! His acting made me cringe, it was proper over the top comedy baddie he was doing. Not as bad as the bad guy who was chasing him. The whole thing was almost taken back to the crap that Roger Moore was doing, trying to be funny rather than doing an action movie. Craig was playing Bond as he has done but everyone else was acting like they were in a spoof movie.}
