Beauty and the beast, took the missus to build up some brownie points and I'm a big kid and enjoy Disney films so wasn't that big a sacrifice.

Firstly Disney are on to a winner remaking all there films (personally I wish they didn't as I'm an old cynic) but it's going to make them serious cash. The film is well made and the casting is spot on emma Watson and josh had in particular. This will be watched by families for generations and will go down as a classic. I would recommend it for those who have families, or those wanting to build up some easy brownie points.

Good movie and since I hadn't seen the original one, this was certainly an interesting, fun and enjoyable movie.

Just a general post on Hollywood rather than a movie review. I'm starting to get sick of the reboots and remakes with female casts. Movies for me aren't just a story but actually a piece of art. Every decision regarding a movie is made for a reason and I enjoy taking it all in.

But the remakes is just cutting out the imagination (if I painted Mona Lisa with a small twist or as a male people wouldn't call it a masterpiece). I'm not saying for a second that all female movies are a bad thing, but they are being made as a money spinner rather than for the benefit of a story. If a suffergette movie was made with an all female cast and gave a unique insight into their movement then I would take the time to watch the movie.

My point is Hollywood needs to stop this era of remakes, get back to giving us unique movies or stories even Disney are pulling out the same tricks by either making sequels or live action movies.

Sorry for the rant but would be interested to see others opinions on the state of the movie industry as a whole.

{Ed001's Note - it is something I have moaned about more than once myself. I don't care about the cast per se, it is, like you said, that it is being done purely for monetary reasons rather than to make the film better.}

I think you have to be pragmatic about or it will drive you mad. The studios are businesses with shareholders and profits are important, sequals and remakes are far more reliable than original films in that regard. There are still plenty of excellent films being made, you just need to search a little harder to find them.

I get that they have to make money, but its the loose links to already marketed material that frustrates me.

I.e. today i have seen they are making a just cause movie. Why? The game is an open world game where you can pretty much do what you want. The movie will probably only have the link of the title and the name of the character.

I also agree there are some great movies being made but flooding the market with remakes and live action movies is just frustrating.

Nerve:

A story about a social media game where people dare you to do things in the hope of getting more watchers.

An interesting concept and a slight representation into a generation that is obsessed with views and likes. Also goes into the fact that most people change when their in groups and anonymous.

The movie has good characters that have you caring for them (won't say too much as don't want to spoil it) however I will say the movie has plenty of moments where you wonder what's happening next.

I really enjoyed this and was hooked early on and would definitely recommend it. It was nice to see a film with a new concept rather than the current trend of rehashing movies and ideas.

I ended up watching lego batman yesterday, the film is a good family movie with plenty of laughs for young and old. The film is written very well to appeal to both the young and old audiences. Although some of the funnier bits can be seen in the trailers.

The movies story is between joker and batman and how the joker wants to be known as batmans greatest enemy. their are some interesting cameos that you don't expect but plenty of dc characters thrown in and plenty of made up ones to.

You can tell the movie was made by a batman fan with plenty of little details thrown in there. Overall an enjoyable movie, you probably don't need to watch it in the cinema but when it eventually comes onto kodi and your looking for an entertaining movie this is worth a shot.

Disclaimer: I may be going on 27 but my choice was take my younger brother to see this or watch the strictly come dancing tour.

Is it better than the last actual batman film?

2.) 05 Feb 2017 23:51:25
Ironically it has a better story. you understand why joker (zach galfinakis, sorry ed001!) is making his master plan and also understand why batman is trying to stop it. Batman is also more complex then most batman movies.

It has no 'martha' like plot holes, actually re-reading my original post I think I undersold this movie, it's thoroughly enjoyable and DC could learn a thing or two from it. Maybe they should just hire the director and his team!

I do like the look of this movie myself. As for Galifinakis, he is fine when it is just his voice, voiceover work is a totally different skill from actually being funny (imo)

Saw it and absolutely loved it! best batman film since the one with Heath ledger!

Has loads of laughs for little kids but had me and my sister in stitches at parts. Visually it actually looks great and is just a really fun movie! Added to that still manages to have a more coherent storyline with characters who obviously are tongue in cheek but make more sense than majority of recent dc characters.

Added to that can just tell it was made by a big batman fan with nods and winks to the ridiculous bad guys of early batman comics (like genuinely most of the ridiculously stupid baddies are actually genuine ones), the camp Adam west show and the overly dramatic and dark new batman trilogy.small spoiler but even bane in its talks with a ridiculous voice similar to the last batman film, dunno why but every time he spoke I laughed!

Is a very different to most films out there in such a fun and refreshing way, the whole thing is played for laughs and can't think of any dull moments. is a film could watch with your mates and laugh or just as easily sit with your young kid and both enjoy

Fantastic beasts and where to find them.

I'm a Harry Potter fan but this just didn't hold my interest, first hour and a half of the film you wonder what the story is other than a guy mixes up his bag of beasts and goes to find them. The plot really is that thin. Few humerus points but can't comment on the rest as I fell asleep. Probably speaks volumes for the film I'm afraid.

That bad?

Harry Potter films I could just happily watch over and over again but this I won't be watching again. A film made of the franchise but many people seem to like it so think I'm in the minority.

{Ed001's Note - ok just wondered, I am not a fan of the films to be honest, though my daughter loved them.}

I won't go into a top ten as such as I will just keep arguing with myself over what deserves to be number 1.

The dark knight is a superb movie and is up there with my favourites across all genres.

The whole captain America trilogy stands out for me, I think there a cut aboveboard the other marvel films.

Deadpool, had the potential to be awesome and they surpassed it imo.

GOTG funniest marvel film and one I didn't expect to like, watched it and was instantly hooked.

Ironman deserves a mention (1&2) in particular as without those I don't think we would have the MCU as it is today.

Spidey should be in here but I think the new one will blow it out of the water, was sceptical when he was added to civil war but seems very well casted.

Also a fan of the 1989 batman, I know when you watch it now it's a bit dated but for me it started my love for DC/Marvel.

As for The polls ed001 could be a great addition to the site.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed as Ed033 is setting up.}

Any deadpool references either before of after the film?

X-men are a group of films I've just never round to watching, and when they started messing with the timeline it became either harder to start watching them. Now Jackmans done with wolverine maybe it's time to give it back to marvel to run with. I know it won't happen though as it's making too much cash.

Spot on with this one ed, I loved the first two movies and also hadn't watched them for a while, but couldn't piece the links together. So was spending my time trying to figure out what was what rather than taking in the movie.

{Ed001's Note - normally I make a point of watching previous films before watching a film like that and it almost always makes no difference. Sod's law that when I don't bother it actually matters!}

The lass in it was the thing that held it back for me as I always associate her with comedy films just couldn't buy her being a serious character
