So who's really looking forward to Deadpool? Or will you all be busy celebrating valentines? Personally dead excited for this one. The trailer looks brilliant Reynolds seems to have nailed the character and the scene where he shoots the three men with the same bullet is worth the entire cost of watching.

{Ed001's Note - I am really looking forward to it, as is my brother in law to be, we are planning to take our other halves along to watch it.}

30 Jan 2016 19:46:18
Ed001
Yougot some partner if she's willing to watch deadpool and valentines weekend. Think it's going to be a cracker. Hopefully they can redeem deadpool after the abomination that was xmen origins wolverine
Btw i wanted to ask you ed whether you guys have a still spot open on tje poddies . Got a stable connection now

{Ed001's Note - the only issue is whether she can get time off or not, that is always the problem. She loves action movies. Wolverine is one of those films I am trying to forget I saw. It was just embarrassing, mind they keep using Huge Jackoff to play him, which is already off to a crap start as he just doesn't have any charisma nor does he have the physicality to be him.

We need to sort out who is when on the poddies, but yes mate, we will get you on one soon. Just waiting to find out if a Charlton youth coach can get permission off the club to appear. We want to ask him about Gomez and Shelvey and youth development in general. So we might have to put you back a week after we set a time for you, though his one will probably be an extra one.}

31 Jan 2016 13:27:03
Yeah sure not this week tho. Keep me posted after that

{Ed001's Note - ok mate.}

For anyone interested new Suicide Squad trailer, looks amazing!

21 Jan 2016 12:14:40
I know every one is creaming over Leto as the Joker,but I don't like the design/makeup,of him,and I'm personally not sold on Leto as an actor.Don't even get me started on Jai Courtney.

Margot and Smith will put in their usual measured performances I'm interested to see the rest. Delevigne Common beach etc,I don't really know much about them. It looks action packed and fun though I just hope some of the actors can deliver(in a film that probably isn't so much about acting haha)

21 Jan 2016 22:02:46
I think what WB are doing with these DC movies to differentiate them from marvel is that they want great directors who have a history of being visually emphatic while getting the most out of their actors, I can see Leto winning awards for this performance and I don't think he'll be the only actor in the DCEU to be acclaimed for their performance

22 Jan 2016 09:47:24
They're certainly taking it down a darker route with their directors and screenplay.
For me though I think Leto has become one of those actors who because people have said he's good in the past,it's kinda just stuck,I think every performance he's given has been forgettable,requiem for a dram,Thin Red Line,Dallas buyers club. I'm just not a fan of his.
I think he falls into the category of Hanks,Leo,washington etc that regardless of their acting people say it was a brilliant performance cus they've reached that point of having a reputation.

I hope to god I'm wrong. I still can't see why Jai Courtney was cast I can fart right now and my gas would have more charisma and presence

26 Jan 2016 21:25:04
I must admit that this looks like it might just work. But the critics will probably slaughter it. I remember watching League of Extraordinary and thinking it was excellent only for every critic to say it was rubbish, likewise Van Helsing.

27 Jan 2016 13:55:39
Critics only like crap like the artist and life of pi. Dull artistic pretentious rubbish.

15 Jan 2016 23:21:51
I will start this post by stating that I am not a fan of rodent smuggling lothario Richard Gere, but I have just watched a Film called the benefactor and it's superb.
Beautifully shot,great script and the best performance I have ever seen from Gere it is not an easy watch with many uncomfortable moments but definitely worth a watch if you enjoy a good drama.

18 Jan 2016 15:55:13
Alright Deano

If that's the type of film your into, i'd recommend The Hunt with Mads Mikkelson, a danish film. It's a fairly raw watch but it really got me thinking. Brilliant performances.

14 Jan 2016 22:38:14
Oscar nominations are out, thoughts? Early tips?

15 Jan 2016 11:30:48
I see ed1s all time favourite actor got a nom. Could it be this year for christian bale?

{Ed001's Note - did he? Bizarre. Mind Tom Hanks won it, so acting ability is obviously not relevant to winning a best actor oscar.}

15 Jan 2016 16:20:27
How dare you ed001. I love tom hanks.

{Ed001's Note - sorry to hear that mate.}

15 Jan 2016 17:11:45
Yes ed best supporting actor against hardy an Stallone.

{Ed001's Note - that will probably end up going to Stallone just for the fact that he can still speak after all that surgery bless him. The plastic deserves an oscar all of its own.}

15 Jan 2016 17:29:58
Some interesting nominations amongst the usual suspects

16 Jan 2016 09:03:03
Ed did you say you'd watched creed in another thread? I heard stallones performance was really good?

{Ed001's Note - no it was not showing for about an hour so I went to eat and bumped into someone I knew and ended up missing the start so didn't go and watch it.}

18 Jan 2016 15:53:01
Hey lads, as always late to the thread for me.

Creed is well worth the watch and sly is ok but he's just himself. If that's worth an oscar nom now, that's a terrible and really sentimental choice!

{Ed001's Note - that pretty much does win oscars these days. They do not have to do the role right, just have the right role.}

18 Jan 2016 22:35:00
Got to agree about Stallone in creed, doesn't do much and think the nomination is a sentimental gesture. On the other hand really enjoyed Tom Hardy in the revenant

14 Jan 2016 13:15:29
Rip Alan Rickman

Goodbye Severus Snape

Farewell Hans Gruber

So long sheriff of Nottingham.

{Ed001's Note - that is such a shame. I met him once at Reading train station, my then gf had a huge crush on him and almost fainted. He just looked a bit bemused. Seemed a nice guy though.}

14 Jan 2016 13:31:16
Yeah seemed a good bloke

13 Jan 2016 08:56:24
They are doing a reboot of the Narnia series - this time starting with the Silver Chair book and it will be a fresh start, unconnected to the previous trilogy of films, which covered The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Prince Caspian and The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. I remember liking the book as a kid, the Narnia set being one I read a few times, so I will be interested to see how they work it.

13 Jan 2016 10:01:28
I was never a big fan of fantasy books myself,and didn't like the Narnia series in the slightest. I know this may sound silly as I'm not a writer and cs lewis is so loved,but when reading the books I thought he was just trying to show off how many adjectives he knew,every sentence describing the weather,rings, witches etc would need 3/4 synonyms,It just pissed me off as a child. There's setting the scene and then there's just being a showoff of your knowledge of the English language. I really struggled to get into them for that reason because it felt less about the fantasy and more about Lewis's ego (I hope that makes sense)
If I remember correctly within the collection,the books were a weird set out too,like the 3rd book was the first chronoligically,then the 4th published was the 6th chronologically. It all just confused me when I read them.

Regardless of that though I enjoyed TLTWTW but never watched the other 2. Does it look liek they're doing all 7 books again then? Seems silly to me,it was only a while ago they did the original trilogy

{Ed001's Note - the chronological order was set out correctly, it is just that the Lion, Witch Wardrobe one was the most famous and popular and people know of that, even though it is the 3rd book. The first was not a particularly good one to be honest which is probably why it has never been done in film. They always start with 3 and go from there. They are not being clear over what they are doing, but they are starting with 6 for some obscure reason.}

13 Jan 2016 08:52:47
Pacific Rim 2 is still moving forward, though I have no idea why. I have to be honest, I thought it was a terrible film and really can not understand why anyone would want to watch a sequel!

13 Jan 2016 10:04:57
Guilty pleasure ed,robots fighting aliens on a gigantic scale. I hate that I for some reason enjoyed the first,it defies all convention within myself but my inner child loved it. The dialogue was horrific,acting horrific,screenplay was just clearly was not thought through,(how do you forget you have a gigantic sword that can swathes through flesh,and also ignore the main premise that only twins can operate the machines just for a terrible love story) graphics were ok even though clearly the main focus of the film. All that said thought

IT'S ALIENS VS ROBOTS!!!!! :)

{Ed001's Note - I can get with the aliens v robots thing, like the idea of aliens v predators I love, but the actual films? Just utter dog turd.}

14 Jan 2016 16:34:59
I remember watching Pacific rim. I ajd heard about it from from my friends with regards to how terrible it was. So i just decided that i was going to switch off the smark in me . And imspite of everything being crap aliens vs robots did it for me . At least it had decent action unlike any of the die hard series or expendables

13 Jan 2016 08:49:31
Interesting news that Batman has more than a cameo role in Suicide Squad. I am looking forward to that film and having Batman in it makes it more intriguing.

08 Jan 2016 23:41:12
One for you ed.

Last knights.

Based on 47 robin but with a light medieval fantasy twist. Lot better than I expected.

{Ed001's Note - with Clive Owen? If so I have seen it and like it.}

09 Jan 2016 13:34:41
Yep Clive Owen. Pretty decent film.

{Ed001's Note - I enjoyed it too, I do tend to watch his films, with him being a Liverpool fan he often tries to include references to them in there somewhere. Like, if he is based in an office, he will have Liverpool memorabilia on the walls. If the film is rubbish I can at least amuse myself trying to spot that.}

09 Jan 2016 20:41:07
Didn't know that.

I quite enjoyed it.

{Ed001's Note - the trouble is, once you know that, you will often get distracted looking for it rather than watching the film. Or at least I find I do.}

10 Jan 2016 09:09:54
I might if its a film I've already seen.

Its like sam Jackson and his purple thing or cage and his Elvis obsession then.

06 Jan 2016 10:43:32
Just to spark a bit of debate: I decided to go on IMDB last night to see what terrence malick was up to (seemignly another movie in the pipeline) and got reminded about SPR and TTRL as twin movies with similar release dates,looking a tthe boards,there were plenty of argument for and against each masterpiece as to which was superior. So I decided to think up some more ''twin movies'' and see what the general consensus was as to which is best. feel free to elaborate on why.just for fun :)

Saving Private Ryan or Thin red line

Deep Impact or Armageddon

Mission to mars or red planet

the prestige or the illusionist

end of days or stigmata

{Ed001's Note - I have to be honest, I am not a fan of any of those films.}

06 Jan 2016 11:00:28
I'm not particularly a fan myself of most of them. I liked the prestige,(it all got a bit bizzarred when tesla got involved)

I usually can't sit through SPR AND TTRL.

My preferences If i was just sat watching TV would be (come on ed join in just for fun)

TTRL (I just like the narration and focus on the minds perspective)

Armageddon (the flashback scene with liv and bruce wins it)

Red Planet (The ending for mtm is comedic gold and hand victory to RP)

The prestige (the illusionists insistance on poor fx and a much stronger rivalry in prestige wins it)

Stigmata(2 absolutely awful films gabriel byrnes attempt to act out a terrible script with some crditiblity wins it)

{Ed001's Note - I would honestly turn over all of them.}

06 Jan 2016 13:32:33
Private Ryan is typical Spielberg. Starts well sags in the middle and ends ok but with a lot of sentimentality. Its really only the beach scenes that got it the rep its got.

However despite sitting on my shelf for years I still haven't watched thin red line.

Deep impact I recall was more scientifically realistic by Hollywood standards. Still bad though. But it was dull. I cared little for the characters and considering the plot that's quite bad. Armageddon, well it over does the sentimentality. But that's the point. Your more involved. Some good laughs as well.

Never seen the next two.

Prestige I quite liked. Odd but good. Illusionist I got so bored I turned off half way through.

End of days. Its Arnie.

06 Jan 2016 13:58:12
''Never seen the next two''

don't bother haha

06 Jan 2016 16:13:33
Well saves me a couple of hours so thanks

05 Jan 2016 22:07:05
There's a Baywatch movie!

A. Baywatch. Movie. !

{Ed001's Note - yeah I saw they are making that, The Rock is starring in it. It is difficult to believe there is any point in this. It had its time, was good for teenagers but it is done now. I really wish there was an original thought somewhere in movies now.}

05 Jan 2016 23:00:04
Lets hope he doesn't swim like his name.

Saw the girl they cast. Better looking than Anderson.

Does seem a bit pointless.

06 Jan 2016 16:14:58
Is it just me that never saw the fuss around Pamela Anderson ?

12 Jan 2016 17:29:42
She had big tits Mort1. That's all you really need these days apparently.

14 Jan 2016 16:36:32
Not atruer word hsf.Why do you think Mia khalifa is so famous?

{Ed001's Note - who?}

14 Jan 2016 17:01:19
I guess that's what being in a relationship does to you ed. She's the world's no 1 ummm let's say entertaining adult actress

{Ed001's Note - oh ok, never heard of her, but then how many people actually ever bother to find out their names? That's almost stalkerish Reet.... ;-) }

14 Jan 2016 17:14:58
Don't judge me. I didn't even know who she was until yesterday (apparently she's the latest trend ) when i shouted out "who is mia khalifa" at my institute and everyone started looking at me 😂😂

{Ed001's Note - yeah yeah.}

14 Jan 2016 17:28:52
Ed should i bring up your escapades (or rather the link to your escapades from 90s which harry filmed)

{Ed001's Note - I really hope they aren't on tape!}

15 Jan 2016 23:24:00
Good God Mia Khalifa 😓😓

04 Jan 2016 10:47:14
Watched The Reverent over Christmas. Wow a great film with a great performance from Di Caprio. Weren't keen after all the other movies showing at the moment but glad I watched this one . A bit difficult to watch the bear mauling scene but after that 8 out of 10.

{Ed001's Note - what was it about?}

04 Jan 2016 12:25:06
It's a western basically involving the fur trading in the 1880s.Di Caprio is a tracker who knows where the buffalo will be but also has a native Indian son.The Indian's also know all about the buffalo's movement's setting up some great battles.Any more information will spoil the entertainment. Well worth a watch

{Ed001's Note - ok mate, will take a look if it is on.}

03 Jan 2016 18:19:18
Watched the movie 'Kingsman, The secret service' the other night.
Colin Firth, Samuel L Jackson and Michael Caine, not to bad really.

07 Jan 2016 12:55:54
Had it arrive on rental. Was going to watch it at weekend. But just got notice of redundancy consultation so not really in the mood now.

{Ed001's Note - sorry to hear that Mort, good luck for the future. Kingsman is ok though when you do get a chance, might cheer you up a bit as it is quite funny.}

07 Jan 2016 14:14:25
Was expecting it some point. Bit earlier than expected though. Chance of a job at the end of it. But maybe best to move on. Fresh start an all that. Thanks though mate.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed it works out for the best.}

02 Jan 2016 19:18:55
Just got round to watching star wars after being busy for the past two weeks. Either everyone else are sheeps or i watched something else entirely but was it not just a new hope ripoff. Wont spoil it for anyone else but man you would expect the billions disney paid they could atleast come up with a better script.

{Ed001's Note - that is exactly what I said mate. Really disappointing and I can see why George Lucas was really unhappy and had to stop himself as he was launching on a rant when asked about it!}

02 Jan 2016 20:26:17
After the first scene you could see the plot coming from a mile away. I've personally given up on all these holywood films as it seems no one can come up with an original idea at all. Its just rip off after rip off. can't believe I spent 15 quid really miffed about it lol.

{Ed001's Note - it is really disappointing.}

04 Jan 2016 17:22:11
A star wars film proving disappointing after all the hype? Well I never.
