The Judge.

Robert downey JNR is a hotshot defence attorney, his mother passes and he has to go back to his home town. His dad is a judge of this town has been for 40+ years gets accused of murder of a man he sentenced incorrectly.

The film is a bit long 2 hours or so but after a slow start it builds into a really good film, lots of emotion, different stories play out in the back ground, good characters who you have reasons to love and hate. 100% worth a watch!

The Accountant - 2016.

Ben Affleck is a mathematics genius with aspergers syndrome, who is an account for some of America's most wanted criminals, the films split into 2 stories pretty much, 1 is the FBI hunting down afflecks character and the 2nd is the story of the same character working as an accountant for a firm trying to find a fault in there books as they as looking to go public,

I won't go into much on both stories but the film is a much better watch than I thought it would be, Affleck does some of his best work and it has plenty of depth to his character, and the film doesn't end as the 2 main characters falling for each other, i'd highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good action movie with a solid back story.

7.5/ 10!

I don't understand how this film got so much flack. It's got a very good story that hooks you from the beginning, Affleck makes you care for his character and it sheds light on the struggles for family's and sufferers of Autism.

Very good movie, wouldn't necessarily watch it again but as you said J10 definitely worth the watch.

7.5 bit of a push for me but was a really good film! Bit like John wick in that it is just a cool film where afflecks character is really really good! Just think the plot is a bit predictable and the whole bit with him and Kirsten Stewart didn't really work. worth a watch though!

3.) 07 Feb 2017 08:27:31
i think 7.5 is justifiable, its a good watch at no point do you want it to end, the story is solid, and what film these days aren't predictable? at least it didn't end as a traditional love story. Gives a good solid back story.

and roland i'm not surprised Affleck and Kirsten stewart didn't work considering she wasn't in the film haha!

Lol what ever the girl was in it, fair enough is a good film like.

5.) 07 Feb 2017 22:16:28
The lass in it was the thing that held it back for me as I always associate her with comedy films just couldn't buy her being a serious character

6.) 08 Feb 2017 10:16:09
yeah she was wrong for the part, I can't take someone who does films like pitch perfect and other shocking comedy attempts as a serious lead, never mind one who is supposed to be of high intelligence, luckily she wasn't featured to much!

Watching a film last night and jack black popped up and completely ruined it for me, a man I really dislike and it got me thinking.

If you could pick an actor or general "celeb" to have a boxing match against who would you pick?

mines between jack black and caroline flack!

{Ed001's Note - who is Caroline Flack? Jack Black is a great choice. I don't like Adam Sandler in films but he seems like a genuinely nice guy off screen, so I couldn't pick him. I really can't think of anyone more punchable than Jack Black off the top of my head, in terms of actors.}

1.) 23 Jan 2017 16:16:24
shes some presenter of itv, really gets on my last nerve!

but jack black must be the most punchable man on the planet, Ever since I saw him on shallow hal doing that "cuckoo" thing that was it for me! hated him since that moment!

{Ed001's Note - ah ok. Agreed on Jack Black, that film was terrible too.}

Can I just pick dumb celebs as a whole, the likes of joey Essex the kardashians etc etc. Kids now look up to them as an aspiration and it really frustrates me!

Also The bt footie commentators deserve a mention, mainly Steve macmanaman or Owen, loved them whilst they were at Liverpool now just irritate me.

3.) 24 Jan 2017 07:45:35
pick whoever you want its a free-for-all on here! keith lemon could take one to I think he's punchable!

Deepwater Horizon,

Not sure if anyone has seen this, based on a true story of the offshore drilling site the film is named after.

builds up around the characters getting you invested in them and giving you people to care about, and also focus's on the suits who are only there for financial interest, does a good job of making you care for and dislike the correct characters.

Very slow start but then gets tense and builds up until the dramatic finale, mark wallberg is actually surprisingly like-able as the lead and the fact its based on a true story really gets you invested emotionally.

id recommend it if you like something with a lot of tense scenes and dramatic moments.

i have heard they are doing a second movie, but i just think a series might have worked better, maybe like you said they will double back on that.

J10

{Ed001's Note - Will Smith was contracted to a series of films according to an interview in the local paper he did here.}

Haizan, Do you think it would have worked better as a series instead of a movie? taken time to explain how the elves became the higher class, why the orcs are so hated? and a bit about will smiths characters background? all stuff that is to much for a movie but could benefit from 6/7 hour long episodes maybe? that's the feeling i got from it felt a bit rushed, decent enough idea just poorly executed.
