So I watched black panther and I have to say it was amazing, it started off very fast paced full of action, Klaw was a really entertaining villain, it kind of slowed down in the middle but then picked up speed again, very action intensive but definitely my favourite marvel movie, was loving the cultural vibes as an ethnic myself, anybody saying it was predictable like nah they were going to kill off the black panther in his first film haha, I had some more to say but I've forgotten it, anyone else?

What's everyone's opinion on Michael b Jordan? So you guys think he's lucky because of his daddy or a good actor in his own right? I loved him as killmonger

2.) 21 Feb 2018 09:31:53
why would he be lucky because of his dad? his dad isn't famous?

3.) 21 Feb 2018 17:23:58
He's done well since he was a young lad in The Wire. Some fantastic actors in that, especially among the child actors. He didn't stand out compared to the rest as it was a smaller part. He was good in Rocky 7.

{Ed001's Note - yeah but who is his dad?}

4.) 21 Feb 2018 17:43:55
His dad is Michael A Jordan. Not Michael Jordan the basketball player and sports shoe enthusiast.

{Ed001's Note - and he is?}

5.) 21 Feb 2018 22:07:23
A total nobody Ed. Not involved in show biz. His mum had something to do with art.

{Ed001's Note - oh ok.}

6.) 22 Feb 2018 16:33:50
HAahhaaaaa guys I'm so sorry I legit thought his dad was the basketball legend omg I'm dying, it's like when I thought Robbie and Roy Keane were brothers because they both come from Ireland, same surname and similar first names, heeeez

So I went to go see Star Wars again this time with my brothers and sisters, I enjoyed it a lot more the second time although I think that may be due to having some more time looking at Daisy Ridley! Also I noticed this Star Wars went for laughs on a regular basis, a somewhat slight comedy angle. It's not to say I didn't enjoy it the first time ( which I did) but it does jump around like that song by that guy

Anyone been to see The Last Jedi? I thought it was decent overall, it wasn;t horrendous but it wasn't amazing either, it was like watching a TV show just because there were so many small sub plots going on. But hey each to their own

Welsh red376

{Ed001's Note - just got back from seeing it earlier, I liked it personally, though it did jump around a bit much and tried to cover too much at once.}

1.) 15 Dec 2017 19:52:02
Thought it was fantastic, definitely one of the best Star Wars films, it's bold and refreshing. Don't know what so many of the 'fans' are complaining about, it's like they want to dislike it just because it's different. Yes, there are flaws but the level of hate aimed at it is over-the-top and out-of-proportion (e.g. too many women fighting for the rebels? Absolutely ridiculous criticism). I was very, very young when Phantom Menace came out so I wasn't aware then, but in all honesty I'm now not surprised the child actor that played young Anakin in that film went off the rails due to the bullying he received after, the fanbase is ridiculously toxic.

{Ed001's Note - I am glad I am not the only one who enjoyed it. It was just a good film that could stand alone as a good film regardless of if it was Star Wars or not.}

2.) 16 Dec 2017 20:54:18
Not sure if that's aimed at me or not but I'll pretend it is, I didn't think it was horrendously bad but I didn't put it in wow OMG category either, a good film, decent. And I don't count myself as a hardcore Star Wars guy even if I did wear my Star Wars top to the cinema!

3.) 17 Dec 2017 03:53:45
Nah it wasn’t aimed at you Welsh, sorry for not making it clear. Just meant quite a large portion of the fan base is rather toxic and this film has once again exposed that. It’s clearly a hugely divisive film though, I see most fans rating it as either the best since Empire or the worst since Phantom Menace.

No worries zpecialone, I'm all for a female and ethnic lead stars, just wish Marvel would hurry up and follow suit although Black Panther is on its way out

Anyone been to see Spider-Man yet? I friggin loved it! Tom Holland is a brilliant Spider-Man and this Peter Parker is totally devoted, tony stark plays his role well and I can see why some may not like Ned but I think he's great, plot was pretty fleshed out in a good way and leads to a good future hopefully, then again I'm speaking as my 5 year old self who will love everything Spider-Man Haha.

I even forgot to mention the Vulture who I thought was played amazingly by Keaton, very menacing love the way he swoops through the air, a lot of this film has been made about its diversity and that they can change MJ from white to black( sorry if that was a spoiler) but Peter Parker must be white

{Ed007's Note - Me and the Mrs have just recently started 'seriously' watching superhero films apart from the usual Batman, Superman and Spiderman over the years. Is this new film involved with the films called The Amazing Spiderman with Andrew Garfield? I recorded TAS2 the other week on TV but we haven't seen the first one yet - does that make sense? It's so bloody confusing! We watched Captain America 1 and 2 the other week then we put on the 3rd one and we were like wtf's going on here! It was only when I was moaning about it to Ed001 and Ed004 that I found out there was a certain order to watch them, we watched Iron Man 1 and 2 the CA 1 and 2 thinking they were trilogies, although we haven't tried Iron Man 3 yet.}

2.) 09 Jul 2017 22:41:29
Haha Ed I've been there I know your struggles, yeah it's kind of one big timeline that dips in and out of bigger pictures and individual timelines, but the ones you watched the amazing Spider-Man have no relevance in what they call the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU), so the Spider-Man that just came out (homecoming) is te Spider-Man that is linked with the avengers and iron man and so on, does that kind of make sense?

{Ed007's Note - Yeah I've got you. Homecoming looks brilliant from the trailer, I've always been a big Spiderman fan since the old 70s TV show and the cartoon with Iceman and Firsestar but a lot of folk don't seem as keen on him compared to your Batmans etc.
I think I must have been the only person who wasn't blown away by Deadpool, in fact I thought it was pretty poor, and although I really enjoyed Suicide Squad the Mrs hated it. It's a weird messed up world to get involved in lol.}

3.) 10 Jul 2017 14:47:57
Am I right in saying, those that you like, missus will hate them. And vice versa. It's not messed up Ed07. I think it's kinda cute hehe.

{Ed007's Note - No not really we generally like the same movies except for her love and my hatred for Harry Potter. We pick a series of films and work our way through them, after the superhero ones we're going to catch up with The Terminator and Planet of the Apes films, that way it saves any arguing about what to watch.}

So I went to watch Wonder Woman finally, my two cents are pretty naff, Diana gets told not to do something she does it, Steve gets told not to do something he does it, William Strykers Actor gets told not to do something he does it, and the whole Diana being foreign to other customs was vastly overplayed and need I mention that awful scene at the start in the baths? I much preferred Guadians 2 which was my last trip to the cinema before ww

I have to say that the film didn't meet the critics reviews in my opinion. However I found it to be a very good film nonetheless.

The start was a bit confusing and the end was very rushed but the story played out brilliantly.

The similarities with cap 1 are bang on the money and not just for the war time setting. It seems to be the start of a universe and gives me hope for the future of the dceu

{Ed001's Note - do you think so? I was not impressed at all, thought it was just a mess with a poorly conceived story.}

2.) 05 Jul 2017 20:00:08
Sorry think I posted too early let me know if it got throufh.

I think the origins on themyscira could have been fleshed out more. Especially as there are so many great characters there buy as they are 'immortal' they can come in later films but just felt wasted.

Felt the pacing was good and the score, especially backing on action scenes was again well executed.

Finally I think gal ga dot really looks the part and really is believable as an amazon warrior.

All in all a very good film but by no means perfect.
