So suicide squad. What a shame. All the right ingredients but unfortunately not the right chef. Leto nailed it, as did Davis. Flag, enchantress, croc, and to an extent Harley were all good characters. The others not so much. As I said before the film would hinge on will smith and I think he blew it, his best scene was when talking with his daughter towards the end of the film but otherwise a 6/10 performance. Thing that bugged me the most was the character bios, looked cheesey and a cheat of a way to introduce the characters.

Overall a decent popcorn flick but no better than 6 or 7 out of ten, if I'm generous. Just think the DCU is starting a dangerous trend with their films. None have really exceeded a 7/10 so far in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - agreed.}

Also forgot to mention, this culture of hundreds of trailers needs to stop, soon you'll watch the whole film before it's released.

Suicide Squad Review.

Don't worry I won't be putting in any spoilers and also want to say the critics know nothing.

The movie is DC's equivalent to avengers assemble in terms of bringing multiple characters together and they use the same formula with a twist and it works. The film is cleverly constructed and it's nice to see different characters take prominence. The story flows effortlessly compared to BVS and seems to have learnt from that films mistakes. They don't feel the need to push the characters down your throat and allow them build a relationship with the audience in their own time. They even re-introduce a few others too.

Side note: The music for the movie is on point and works with the feel of the film perfectly.

Now, there is flaws and plot holes with the movie, but the rest of the film makes up for it in abundance. Each character brings their own elements to the table and it works brilliantly and I actually want to see more of what DC will offer (I didn't after BVS). The film also manages to touch on the worlds moral compass which is refreshing.

Overall I would recommend the movie, ignore the critics and form your own opinion.

I will discuss the film in more detail when more of you had a chance to see it. As giving a review without spoilers is difficult.

I myself really enjoyed it an 8/10 the critics were way too hard on it, it was not a bad movie,the plot was weak but the characterisation was spit on. i'm a big comicfan so seeing these characters on screen was a dream come true. How did you feel about the Joker?

{Ed001's Note - it was a bad movie. It was overly focused on drama at the expense of excitement and action. I was so bored I found myself checking my phone, and I am not one of those people who live on their phone, I would regularly don't even take it when I go out. None of the actors were well cast, other than Harley Quinn. In fact she was pretty much the saving grace for it, along with Joker, who just needed more of a role.

I was very impressed with Jared Leto, I think he did a good job of the Joker. He was the only other one of the 'baddies' that seemed a good fit for the role.

It was a massive disappointment, DC Comics seem unsure what way they should take their films. The Dark Knight trilogy was superb, so they are trying to keep that darkness but add the jokiness and fun that has worked so well for Marvel. The mix does not work well. They should have stuck to the darkness of Dark Knight.}

Jaded Leto did a fantastic job with the joker, and I'm glad they didn't put too much of him in the film. As it could of overshadowed the others, plus I think he will be the main villain in the solo batman film with Harley.

I agree with ed001 though, they do seem to be struggling with what exactly is their place in the market. But I still enjoyed it.

Ed don't you think that they would struggle to match the darkness of dark knight? That film is another level and trying to match that could backfire. Similar to someone copying ledgers joker, it just wouldn't work.

{Ed001's Note - no, I think the characters lend themselves to that kind of film. They should be dark, they are all dark, especially Amanda Waller, who is the baddest of the lot. By trying to make them a bit lighter, it ruins them. They are great because they are bad. Play on that, not on trying to humanise them.}

I personally didn't care much for the Joker. It could be down to the fact that he isn't Heath Ledger or it may be that he was nothing more than a gangster with green hair. The relationship between him and Quinn was way off too. Will Smith was pretty good I thought but Deadshot was too focused on his daughter who shouldn't have even been there at that point, think they missed out on character development for him due to this. The rest of the cast was hard to judge with them being overshadowed by Robbie and Smith but there's potential for the future. The film wasn't a masterpiece but other than the Dark Knight trilogy which comic book films have been? Though I'll admit it was very messy and the antagonist could have been better

It doesn't surprise me that it's getting bad reviews. I thought the original trailers looked horrendous, the film itself was quite boring. I feel like they make films for people who have no attention span nowadays. Such a shame as the dark knight should of been just the start of something great for DC.
