Anyone seen Manchester by the Sea? Just watched it there and I am emotionally drained after it. Casey Affleck put in some performance, the range of emotions he displayed was phenomenal. I'm not usually one for Oscar bait but christ this movie was just outstanding, it's all I can say. If you haven't seen it watch it as soon as you can, you might shed a few tears though haha ( I cried a lot I must say)

23 Jan 2017 22:19:41
Anyone watched arrival yet? Watched it last night, enjoyed it. Got a good story, and different to the usual aliens v humans kind of film. Worth a watch if you like that kind of film, such as the day the earth stood still.

24 Jan 2017 08:41:06
But The Day the Earth Stood Still was crap. I'm sure you meant the idea or concept of the story, right DK?

25 Jan 2017 19:23:58
Yeah, it's just similar, not same story or anything. It's different to the usual ones

03 Feb 2017 19:12:54
It is a good movie, with excellent visuals and a good story. There is a sort of a twist that is connected to the aliens and what they want.

Watching a film last night and jack black popped up and completely ruined it for me, a man I really dislike and it got me thinking.

If you could pick an actor or general "celeb" to have a boxing match against who would you pick?

mines between jack black and caroline flack!

{Ed001's Note - who is Caroline Flack? Jack Black is a great choice. I don't like Adam Sandler in films but he seems like a genuinely nice guy off screen, so I couldn't pick him. I really can't think of anyone more punchable than Jack Black off the top of my head, in terms of actors.}

23 Jan 2017 16:16:24
shes some presenter of itv, really gets on my last nerve!

but jack black must be the most punchable man on the planet, Ever since I saw him on shallow hal doing that "cuckoo" thing that was it for me! hated him since that moment!

{Ed001's Note - ah ok. Agreed on Jack Black, that film was terrible too.}

23 Jan 2017 18:37:17
Can I just pick dumb celebs as a whole, the likes of joey Essex the kardashians etc etc. Kids now look up to them as an aspiration and it really frustrates me!

Also The bt footie commentators deserve a mention, mainly Steve macmanaman or Owen, loved them whilst they were at Liverpool now just irritate me.

24 Jan 2017 07:45:35
pick whoever you want its a free-for-all on here! keith lemon could take one to I think he's punchable!

26 Jan 2017 15:14:05
actually think ill add amir khan to this list

Deepwater Horizon (2016)

This is based on the real life disaster that befell the BP oil rig Deepwater Horizon in 2010. The film starts off introducing us to the characters and building up to the disaster with issues regarding safety reviews and arguments between BP officials and the workers there to ensure safety. Then it all hits the fan with special effects dominating the proceedings as we watch them try to save the day.

Overall it was just a paint-by-numbers version of the story, with very little to make it stand out from the crowd as a film in its own right. Its interest purely comes from the disaster it is based on. Having said that, it is a very watchable and enjoyable movie, which has decent performances from the stars, which include Kurt Russell, John Malkovich and Mark Wahlberg and a big budget spent on special effects.

Would I want to watch it again? Probably not, but it was a good film which tells a story that people do need reminding about. One to watch, but not one to watch again and again.

23 Jan 2017 18:40:39
cheers for the review ed, ill give it a try at some point

{Ed001's Note - someone down the page said it was good as well I noticed afterwards.}

23 Jan 2017 22:36:50
I ended up watching this tonight, I really enjoyed it and like yourself and J10 would recommend this.

I was surprised by the spin that was allowed to be put on to BP, I can't imagine bp are very happy about the way they were protrayed in particular a few of their staff members.

They built the characters well and actually cared enough for the characters to want them to survive.

All round good movie, but would agree it's not one you watch again.

24 Jan 2017 07:47:17
I like how tense they built up the ending when one would and one wouldn't go, I couldn't watch again either but its a good watch for a night in. did make my mrs cry when it showed the real people at the end as well.

22 Jan 2017 00:12:08
News that James Cameron himself is working on a new Terminator film.

I am a big die-hard fan of the second Terminator, and I really hope that this will work out. It will be years away for it to actually come out - if it works out well of course - but really, having Cameron directly involved excites me. Salvation and Genisys really have ruined this beloved and classic franchise.

What do do you guys think?

{Ed001's Note - I only liked the original personally.}

22 Jan 2017 12:23:26
I heard that Arny sold his image rights to the Terminator franchise, so he can be digitally put into it whenever.

22 Jan 2017 12:05:13
The first was ok, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the second. Maybe because I started with the second then only the first, and the second has set quite a benchmark in terms of the visual and the action scenes. And maybe it was the generation I think that I couldn't enjoy much of the classics during the 80s; Alien, Aliens, T1, Gremlins and many others.

{Ed001's Note - but T2 was just about effects, the story was weak and the action was just too over the top for my liking.}

23 Jan 2017 00:56:04
I personally thought T2's story was better, especially the parts between the boy and the terminator. About father and son kind of thing. And I tend to broke down easily when it comes to father and child.

{Ed001's Note - I thought it was awful. The whole Terminator being unstoppable thing etc. It was just an excuse for lots of different effects as it recovered.}

23 Jan 2017 10:02:52
I guess we will not agree on much about this. But Ed01, at least both of us agreed Jack Black is a great artist, right?

{Ed001's Note - hahaha. Something like that.}

21 Jan 2017 00:22:53
Fantastic beasts and where to find them.

I'm a Harry Potter fan but this just didn't hold my interest, first hour and a half of the film you wonder what the story is other than a guy mixes up his bag of beasts and goes to find them. The plot really is that thin. Few humerus points but can't comment on the rest as I fell asleep. Probably speaks volumes for the film I'm afraid.

23 Jan 2017 13:55:06
That bad?

23 Jan 2017 21:29:13
Harry Potter films I could just happily watch over and over again but this I won't be watching again. A film made of the franchise but many people seem to like it so think I'm in the minority.

{Ed001's Note - ok just wondered, I am not a fan of the films to be honest, though my daughter loved them.}

20 Jan 2017 22:15:44
Hi Ed001, just wondering if you've had a chance to see La La Land yet. Not much of a reviewer myself but thought it was fantastic, Stone and Gosling's chemistry changes it from being a good film to something that could go down as a classic. Would highly advise going to see it

{Ed001's Note - is that the musical one? If so I would not want to see it, as my pet hate is musicals!}

20 Jan 2017 22:36:19
That's the one Ed. It mightn't be for you then, though while there's a couple of very cheesy songs at the very start, there's only 3 more throughout the rest of the movie. Most of the other music is jazz that's being played in bars/ restaurants the characters are in. Gives a sort of Whiplash vibe (it has the same writer and director as Whiplash. I wouldn't say it's strictly a musical but it's probably enough to put you off. Cheers for the reply anyway

21 Jan 2017 19:27:57
You, I'll be honest not a fan of this, musicals for me should be that the songs move the story forward, these just seemed shoved in, no real story, and yes there was chemistry but I didn't really feel anything for the characters at any point of the movie. Kinda left me feeling underwhelmed and is why I hate oscar season, films for critics.

Live by night (2017)

Ben Affleck plays a gangster bootlegger who works on behalf of the Italian mob to get revenge against the Irish mob for killing his gf.

Was an alright film, but not great. The setting/era was really good and has a few absolutely fantastic parts (some of the scenes with the KKK and the odd delivery from Affleck are outstanding), but feels like it could have been shortened by 30 mins (lot of filler) and the plot has a few points that don't make sense.

Main thing really is doesn't have the depth or gripping point of my favourite mob films (eg the loss of everything for power in scar face or sense of betrayal/sacrifice of donnie brasco).

All in all a decent film but about it really.

23 Jan 2017 13:56:11
Is it in need of shortening or have they missed out bits which made other bits make sense?

28 Jan 2017 23:30:32
Just a lot of scenes that don't really add anything to the plot or develop any of the characters and could easily have been left out. also Ben affleck looks really wide in suits, not a criticism just an observation

18 Jan 2017 09:43:09
Deepwater Horizon,

Not sure if anyone has seen this, based on a true story of the offshore drilling site the film is named after.

builds up around the characters getting you invested in them and giving you people to care about, and also focus's on the suits who are only there for financial interest, does a good job of making you care for and dislike the correct characters.

Very slow start but then gets tense and builds up until the dramatic finale, mark wallberg is actually surprisingly like-able as the lead and the fact its based on a true story really gets you invested emotionally.

id recommend it if you like something with a lot of tense scenes and dramatic moments.

The Hollow Point (2016)

A new sheriff of a small town along the USA and Mexico border is left to investigate a drug cartel deal that went wrong, following the old sheriff going rogue and being relieved of duty. With drug cartels, cross border smuggling, cartel hitmen, dead bodies and an ex-girlfriend to deal with, the new sheriff has his hands full.

I knew nothing about this movie before watching it, but I thought it was very good. There were characters that felt real and the whole situation really felt like you were seeing into how life is on the border. Scarily real at times. I was surprised at how good this film was. Particularly surprising to me was seeing Ian McShane do so well, as I usually still think of him as Lovejoy from the old TV series, but he was really good as the drunken old sheriff who had been driven to take drastic measures by the things he had experienced over the years.

13 Hours. I loved most of Bay's films, up until the 2nd Transformers. Most of his recent films, especially Transformers, full of crap vulgar humours which I found rather disgusting than funny. Previous films, yes too, only that I still managed to enjoy them. Maybe the 2nd Transformers, I felt that it was too much and too annoying I couldn't no longer enjoy them.

It seems like it is one of his trademark, to add these kind of things in his films. But it's quite different with 13 hours. It felt more serious (there were still some slight humours, but for me, not as stupid as those in his previous films), and this maybe because the fact that this film is based on a true story.

I didn't care much about the story, whether it was indeed a true story, or maybe it was already altered or twisted to please the target audience. The idea of the story, soldiers who defended their fellow countrymen, stayed strong and fought even when they were outnumbered, worked just fine for me.

It was a solid action film, I enjoyed the battle scenes, even though they were not as big as most of his previous films.

Bay should make more of this kind of films; a bit more serious, and less stupid jokes.

12 Jan 2017 10:16:50
I will definitely give this a watch I think, did you ever watch Pain and Gain ? I went out my way to not watch this because Micheal Bay directed and Marky Mark was in it but when I finally did I was somewhat surprised at how good this movie was.

12 Jan 2017 11:46:49
Hi Shadrak. You meant Pain and Gain? Yeah I've watched it before, more than once actually. I was surprise of myself that I actually enjoyed it too. When talked about Bay in the original post, I totally forgot about this film. It still did have those stupid jokes, yeah, but I think it was the story that really captured my attention.

{Ed001's Note - that was a surprisingly good film to be fair.}

13 Jan 2017 17:33:07
It's the only Michael Bay movie I can watch without vomiting from explosion enduced nausia.

The Accountant (2016)

Ben Affleck plays a math savant who works as a freelance accountant to some of the most dangerous criminal organisations on the planet. As a cover, he runs a small business as an accountant to hide his true business behind. With the US Treasury Dept on his trail, he decides to take a legitimate job doing the books for a robotics firm after a glitch was discovered by an accounts clerk there.

For some reason that is never really explained, he takes a liking to the accounts clerk, played by Anna Kendrick, and then spends the film trying to save her after it is discovered the glitch was a criminal act and the firm try to cover up the problem by killing them both. What follows is well acted, with some really good action setpieces, but the story lacks any substance.

Watchable in the John Wick mindless action flick way, mindless fun. I enjoyed it but I thought there would be more to it, with a better storyline.

11 Jan 2017 13:25:30
Iv just watched this aswell ed, I enjoyed it. Liked the ending aswell!

{Ed001's Note - I was a bit disappointed with the 'twist' myself. You could see it coming a mile off. Well both twists I guess. I forgot about the first one as it was so obvious, almost glaring at you throughout the film.}

11 Jan 2017 19:27:01
I thought this film was ok. It had a great premise and good actors but it seemed to build up to a big finale only for it to shuffle off into the night whilst pausing momentarily to tie up the treasury dept and flashback storylines In a rather underwhelming fashion.

13 Jan 2017 05:08:09
Watched a few clips in Youtube after reading this review. I'm sold.

13 Jan 2017 15:44:05
Its definitely worth a watch HaizanMSS.

Kubo and the two strings (2016)

Sorry hit send early! Film is made using stop animation and before watching it read a lot of good reviews about it before watching it. Added to that with a cast of Charlie Theron, Matthew McConnoughy, and Ralph Fennes is a great cast to boot.

Will start off by saying that visually this film is stunning, is a truly beautifully made film and doesn't disappoint in that department. Added to that is actually a fairly poignant film and has a lot more depth than you'd expect from a kids film, is very touching at moments.

Saying that it feels like it is lacking something, can't put my finger on it but felt underwhelmed when it finished. Added to that is a long film and feels like it. Just felt like they could cut 30 mins or so from it and was Utd end up with a much better film.

All in all a good film and just a joy to see from a purely visual stance. The sheer effort to produce it comes across and get a sense those involved in making it are proud of what they have done.

10 Jan 2017 22:08:19
The film was beautiful. However, it didn't look much like a stop-motion, first I thought it was purely animation and made to look like it was a stop-motion. Unlike Wallace & Gromit or Chicken Run.

Overall thw film was just OK for me. Bought it for my kids, and they loved it, and that is all that matters.

Locke (2013)

Watched Tom Hardys new show taboo this weekend and found out this film was written by the same person who wrote it.

Saw it a couple of years ago and think it's worth mentioning. Before I start will explain that this film consist entirely of Tom Hardy in a car talking on his phone to people, as in he is the only actor you see in the entire film.

To summarise he plays a construction driver who's life changes over the course of the phone calls he makes driving home. The only real downside of this film is Tom Hardys Welsh accent isn't great but beyond that is a fantastic and unique film.

Personally like this film as it shows how a well written script performed by a talented actor can be better than 99% of the dross churned out by Hollywood today.

{Ed001's Note - that sounds really intriguing, I will have to look that up.}

10 Jan 2017 21:00:49
Let us know if you find the time to watch it as is a bit different and really enjoyed it. Also if you haven't seen it bronson staring Tom Hardy is another different but great film.sorry for the wee man crush but personally think he is a brilliant actor and there aren't many around

{Ed001's Note - I really like Tom Hardy, thought he was brilliant in Bronson but the film was awful and I couldn't sit through it. Warrior is one of my all time favourite films though.}

10 Jan 2017 22:01:40
Absolutely loved the warrior, thought it was a cheap knock off of the fighter before I watched it but blew it out the water. Speaking of personal favourites have you seen In Bruge (Colin ferrels only good film) or seven psychopaths (Sam Rockwell my other favourite actor is great in it)?

{Ed001's Note - I have seen both, In Bruge was ok, bit odd at times but very watchable. I don't really remember Seven Psychopaths at all, which is probably not a good sign!}

10 Jan 2017 22:14:51
I'm with you Ed. Warrior is one my favs as well. And Hardy, he was so ripped in it, and physically he looked like a real beast. Couple that with his acting, he was indeed a beast in that film.

{Ed001's Note - he does really feel like an animal in that film.}

Free State Of Jones (2016)

Based on the true story of a Confederate army deserter who gathers an army of fellow deserters, runaway slaves and women in an uprising against the corrupt local Confederate government. At times brutal and shocking, with a genuinely interesting personality to reveal, the film was a good watch, in the main. Unfortunately it was a bit disjointed, with the story jumping around a bit too much, including scenes involving his descendants interposed into the main story.

That made it a bit of a mess, added to the constant jumps forward in the timeline of Newton Knight himself, you were at times having to get your head round the story and figure out where you were, instead of just relaxing and enjoying. Matthew McConaughey as the lead was excellent, the film itself had enough to make it worth a watch, but it fell short of where it should have been.

This should have been a classic, all the ingredients were there, but the director failed to get it quite right. The racial tension between the runaway slaves and the deserters was never really explored. When it should have been exploring how the camp was badly divided and held together by Newton Knight's force of personality, it instead left it feeling like there were just one or two incidents.

Maybe it is just me, but I just felt like it was not doing enough to portray reality of the divisions, instead focusing on the brutality of the deaths, rather than the horror of the live's they led. It could have done with taking a hint from Mississipi Burning, which built up a feeling of the racial tensions around then in the Southern USA. This movie almost made it seem like the deserters were happy with sharing a camp and fighting alongside runaway slaves, it only hints that there were issues.

It almost felt like it was brushing it under the carpet, which is a shame as Newton Knight settled down to raise a family with a runaway slave, the colour of their skin did cause issues. The film even pointed out how his descendants struggled nearly 100 years later with those same problems. That, to me, should have been a bigger part of the film, especially when they touched on the rise of the KKK.

The Magnificent Seven (2016)

Denzel once more teams up with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua in this remake of the Magnificent Seven, which in turn was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece Seven Samurai. It is a familiar story, seven misfit gunmen in the wild west come together to defend a village from predation from an army of savage thieves.

With Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung-hun Lee and more, there is certainly star quality in the film. Of course, with the story being such a familiar one, there have been hundreds of variants of the story done since Kurosawa, the story is not what makes the film of interest.

A good remake which vastly improves on the previous version of Magnificent Seven, in my opinion. Denzel, as ever, is excellent in the leading role, meshing well with the others and is always believable. It is worth watching, even if you have seen the original Seven Samurai and Magnificent Seven. It just works.

David Brent: Life On The Road (2016)

If you can remember the mockumentary 'The Office', the original British series, that launched the career of Ricky Gervais, then you will know who David Brent is. If, like me, you thought that The Office was terrible, unfunny attempt at comedy, it is probably best to give this a miss. It is all about the cringe, rather than the humour. Brent makes you cringe constantly, but not laugh, at all. I really just do not get why this is called comedy, there is nothing to laugh at. Waste of 14 hours or whatever it took to watch this, it felt like a lifetime, the whole thing just dragged on from one cringey moment to the next. I miss the days when comedies were just about making you laugh, rather than trying to be clever.

08 Jan 2017 07:09:04
I've finally come across someone who dislkes him as much as me,I've never laughed at anything he's ever done,I just don't get it.

{Ed001's Note - nor me. Some of his ideas are good, but the actual execution is just not funny.}

08 Jan 2017 15:00:04
I found the us version of the office to be much better and actually consistently funny. The only things I've really enjoyed from gervais was the film 'the invention of lying' really good concept and actually executed successfully even if it included a ridiculously cheesey ending, and the series 'derrick' again one of his mockumentaries but executed brilliantly.

Considering his profile he has very little in his locker, in my opinion, that can be classed as comic genius. Good writer and good ideas but just like his singing career his acting career has lots of duds and his work doesn't age well.

06 Jan 2017 18:03:31
With the death of Carrie Fisher there's been talk of whether it would be ethical to use the technology from Rogue One to have her appear and play a significant role in Episode 9. My view is that it's fine and it's now a useful tool for film makers (as long as her estate still gets paid for her 'appearance'). What do you guys think, should they do it, write her out of the film or recast?

{Ed001's Note - personally I would prefer them to write her out or recast.}

06 Jan 2017 06:19:57
Spectral (2016)

This was just a really bad sci-fi movie, at least I think it was sci-fi, maybe it was intended to be a horror movie? I have no idea. It was one of those films I put on and forgot all about as it did not catch my attention at all. It was not the worst film, I certainly never felt an urge to switch it off in annoyance or because I was cringing at how bad it was, but it just did not keep my focus. It became background noise.

06 Jan 2017 08:15:45
It wasn't good? I am looking forward for it actually, the trailer looked good.

{Ed001's Note - it was just ok, bearable rather than good.}

05 Jan 2017 22:55:58
Anyone watched Lights Out?

06 Jan 2017 04:05:04
I have watched the original short. Creepy as hell. Haven't watch the full feature film yet, but the online reviews mostly praised the film. Have you, Darkknight?

06 Jan 2017 13:58:16
No mate, going to watch it tonight I think. I'll let you know how it is.

06 Jan 2017 23:34:34
Don't bother mate, waste of time!

07 Jan 2017 03:08:31
Haha. It was bad, darkknight? Sorry to hear that, darkknight.

I thought it will be as good as the original short. Have u watch it?

08 Jan 2017 07:11:51
The short sent shivers through my spine,I'll give the movie a miss as I don't want to spoil my experience of the short

08 Jan 2017 11:34:20
Good point wiggy. I'm sure you have watched his other shorts. He is really good, isn't he?

I believe there are lots who came into the mainstream after making great shorts.

Btw, I will end up watching this anyway, as I love horror films.

05 Jan 2017 06:55:00
Sugar Mountain (2016)

Two brothers that are down on their luck, losing the family business after an accident leads them to be sued, hatch a plan to make money. One of the brothers decides to pretend to be lost on the titular mountain, the day after the pair pretend to fight over his girlfriend, leading to suspicion falling on the one left behind. When the missing brother returns a few days later, they will sell their story, similar to the one that the film 127 Hours is based on.

The most interesting thing about this film is the bit part role played by Khal Drogo. Other than that it was just an obvious film, with a soap style storyline about love triangles. It was just ok, but that was all.

04 Jan 2017 17:43:42
Just got back from the cinema, took the missus to watch Passenger. I enjoyed it. Worth a watch if you liked The Martian and Gravity. Not one of the best films ever, but worth a watch.

{Ed003's Note - Cheers DK.}

04 Jan 2017 05:58:06
Call Of Heroes (2016)

This is a Chinese martial arts film set during the warlords era in China. A village in a rural area is in trouble when its government moved all its troops to the frontline. Left at the mercy of a vicious commandant Cao, the local guardians arrest his son for murder and face his wrath.

It was a proper old school martial arts film, but updated with modern effects. It had the lone wolf with a mysterious past, the evil baddies, the dedicated man forced to act against his moral code. Think Magnificent Seven or, more properly, the original Seven Samurai (that Magnificent Seven copied) set in China. I really enjoyed it, if you like martial arts films, you will enjoy it.

03 Jan 2017 11:17:13
The Matchbreaker (2016)

An idealistic romantic loses his job and gets offered some money to break up a girl's relationship for her disapproving parents. After he does it, word spreads and he soon finds himself breaking up relationships for a living.

This is really not aimed at someone like me, it just did not work on any level that interested or appealed to me. There was a lack of comedy and it was just sickly sweet. Maybe a date movie, but other than that I can not see a reason to watch it.

03 Jan 2017 21:12:15
Talking about romance and comedy films, what is your opinion on Spectacular Now? If you have watched it, of course.

Thanks Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - honestly I have never even heard of it before! Sorry mate.}

03 Jan 2017 21:37:01
It's Ok Ed01. If you can stand to watch films with high school romance, I would suggest for you to try this. It's not recent, but the story was different. Plus, Miles Teller was superb in it. Cheers Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - ah not my thing mate, even when I was young it would not have interested me. I try and avoid romance.}

02 Jan 2017 23:10:57
Just finished watching Usual Suspects ed, definitely worth a watch. Kind of saw the twist coming at the end though, but still a great film.

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers, I will add it to my 'to watch list' and try and get round to it soon.}

02 Jan 2017 19:36:54
What do you guys think of the Cloverfield universe? The viral dectective campaigns they do before each movie is pretty awesome, giving the fans something to look into before they watch the movie(this usually happens with about 6 months before the release).

I like the fact that all these different movies are all linked by 1 thing and that's a fictitious company called Tagruato.
The movies include: Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Super 8 and the upcoming God Particle.
There may be a few other movies that I don't know about, but I really do love this kind of thing.

02 Jan 2017 21:27:12
Only managed to watch Cloverfield and Super 8. Didn't know that Super 8 was linked with the same Cloverfield universe.

Cloverfield on its own was a really good one, I think. Only that, it was one of those kind of films that you enjoy lesser and lesser as you rewatch it few times.

How was Lane, hsf? I still haven't see it yet. I love the idea. After Cloverfield, I felt it would be hard to make sequels out of it. But when they expanded it by making Lane through a different viewpoint, for me, it seems like a brilliant idea.

10 Cloverfield Lane(according to the director) is on a totally different timeline. However, most of the theories I've watched on youtube have said that this is set in 2016, where as Cloverfield was set in 2008.

It's a good stand-alone movie, it's very confusing how it ties in with Cloverfield but there is a definite link when you investigate, as I said before mainly through the company "Tagruato" and some of their franchise companies such as Slusho.

I personally would watch the movie 10 Cloverfield Lane, then I would watch the following.

It goes into pretty heavy detail on a lot of the links and viral campaigns used.

I forgot to add, the reason you should watch the movie first is because the youtube link i posted contains spoilers.

I think it's just a bit of marketing. They've taken totally separate films and slapped 'Cloverfield' on them to build hype. Having said that I heard 10 Cloverfield lane is very good.

PutneyRed, they are all linked mainly by the fictional company Tagruato and it's sub companies(Bold Futura, ParaFUN wax, Slusho and Yoshida Medical Research). I would recommend watching the video I posted, it really does explain it a lot better than I can.

With all due respect, it sounds like you've just made up your own mind because on the face of it, they seem further apart than what they actually are. I'm also guessing you haven't seen anything but Cloverfield.
I mean no offence by saying this.

Hey HSF, I saw Cloverfield when it first came out and saw Super 8 a few months ago. I haven't seen 10 Cloverfield Lane but I read a lot about it's production because I found it interesting.

10 Cloverfield Lane started out as a film called The Cellar but changed it's name during production. Seeing how the story isn't related to the original Cloverfield in anyway I'm 95% certain the 'Cloverfield' universe is just a way of getting wider attention for their genre films produced by Bad Robot. Reading about the God Particle it again sounds like the story is unrelated to the other films.

I didn't mean to come down on the films, Cloverfield is decent, Super 8's a lot of fun and I've only heard good things about 10 Cloverfield Lane, I'll try and watch it soon.

I understand what you're saying.

Did you check out some of the survival gear that was dotted about during the viral campaigns?

I think this kind of stuff is epic and really makes the fans feel part of what's going on.

Just done watching two Japanese horror films; The Curse and Kairo (Hollywood remade it with the title The Pulse).

Decided to watch The Curse from recommendations. Quite an old film. A found-footage kind of film. However, it was quite unique compared to some other found-footage films that I've watched previously. More like a bunch of footage compiled together and being presented as if it was actually a 2-hour long documentary. For me, this stands out as one of the best J-horror films.

Kairo. If any of you guys have watched The Pulse, try check this one out. You'll understand why Hollywood decided to make a remake, and of course most of the times they'll ended up ruining it.

Tonight, definitely, I will be sleeping together with all the girls and their mom. There's no way I'll sleep on the couch tonight.

Slash (2016)

An introverted high school kid in Texas writes fan fiction, which includes some sexually explicit scenes and is embarrassed when it becomes known throughout the school. I am sure there is more, but I got bored by that point and turned this dross off. Just pure drivel. Badly acted drivel at that. Avoid.

Godzilla Resurgence (2016)

If you have ever seen the old Godzilla movies, with the guys in rubber suits grappling around mini sets, then you will have an idea what this film is like. It is a return to them. I have to be honest, I loved those films, no idea why, but always have. This is not as good as them, but I still enjoyed it, it has its own charms too. Difficult to really review without spoilers though. It is enough to know that it is a creature feature of the old school variety, with the charm of those old Godzilla movies, rather than the new style Hollywood versions, which completely miss the mark.
